Chapter Chapter fifty-one
After spending the day with his children and keeping them company until they fell asleep, Crono headed for Freya's old bedroom. Throughout the day, she had kept herself hidden, avoiding any encounters with him. Without a sound, Crono turned the knob and entered. He found her in front of the mirror, combing her hair, deep in thought.
Freya was surprised by Crono's presence, and a palpable nervousness invaded her body, causing her heat to spasm. Throughout the day, she had avoided meeting him, but now that he was in front of her, she didn't know what to do. She sighed several times to appear calm and finally spoke firmly.
"What are you doing here? You have no right to enter this room without my consent."
Crono, replied with the intensity of his controlled desires.
"Your pheromones are calling me, Freya. Don't forget you're already mine." He struggled to hold back before lunging at her, he just wanted to set things straight, he wanted to tell her about his love and his children, "Freya, we need to talk about our children and why you left without telling me they existed."
Freya wanted to set things straight with him, she let out a heavy sigh and spoke in a firm voice.
"Crono, the day I found you with Palas, I found out I was pregnant. You didn't feel any connection with them because I wasn't marked. That's why there was no link between them and this pack. I didn't hide it from you because I wanted to, but because Palas and Eris tried to poison me the day I found you in bed with Palas. My friends helped me escape, but after the birth of my little ones and Metis's mobility problems, I didn't want to be separated from them. Until now, they wanted to meet their father."
"Those damned Pallas and Eris are wanted. When they show up, they'll have to pay for all the damage they've caused."
"After that assassination attempt, I couldn't put my little ones' lives in danger. I was going to come back to take revenge on them, but first I had to make sure my little ones were safe. But you see, your daughter Metis is smart and she decided to look for you. My other two cubs followed her.
"My Metis is very smart and mature. She has a lot of you, in her mannerisms and the way she says things," he expressed, his eyes fixed on Freya.
"Yes, my three little ones are different, they have different qualities, Psyche is tender and sweet and my Ajax is my little grumpy one" Freya's eyes lit up every time she spoke of her children.
Crono took a few steps towards her and, in a soft, melancholy voice, spoke.
"All I want is for you to forgive me for all the hurt I've caused you, Freya. You don't know how angry I was when you weren't in the house. Your father can testify that not a day went by without me looking for you."

"Crono, I understand that I'm your mate and that you're like this because of your children. But I've known for a long time that you don't love me and that the only woman you've ever loved is Pallas."
"I've already told you several times that I thought what I felt for Palas was love, but I understood too late that it wasn't loving a person. She only did what I asked her to, and she was so submissive that I was seduced by it at first. Instead, when you arrived, my life went from monotony to meaning. You're the only she-wolf I've ever loved and still love, Freya".
Freya listened intently to Crono's every word, but her expression remained unruffled.
"You say that about your children, but don't worry, they'll always be your cubs, and you can visit them in my father's pack as often as you like. Tomorrow we leave for there, and I'll stay and live there." Anguish shone in Crono's eyes. He wasn't going to let his children leave him now that they had appeared.
"Freya, don't take my children away from me. I never imagined I'd have children, and now that they've appeared, you and they are my life. I'm absolutely fascinated by everything they do. I love being a father."

"The decision is made, Crono. I came back to this pack only for my children, since I found them, I don't see the need to stay."
"Freya, you can't just leave. I'm not going to let you out of my life again. I want to work things out and not force you. Let's just do something. For the sake of our puppies, give me a chance to show you that I love you and will be a good companion to you. You don't know how I keep from throwing myself at you, but I want to make things right. I'm just asking you to let me show you that I love you."
Freya couldn't deny that the man in front of her liked her. Watching him interact with his children today, she realized that he was a good father and that his children needed him. However, her heart didn't know if she should believe that he loved her. She didn't know if she should stay and give him a chance.
"For our little ones, I'll stay a season in this pack so the children can share with you and your people. As for us, time will tell." She looked at him pleadingly, "Crono, don't force me to sleep with you. I'm in heat and I don't want to feel used to mate with you. I know you can control yourself, and I need to feel safe around you."
After marking her, Crono had felt the need to be with her every moment, it was his nature. But with everything that had happened in their lives, he didn't want to force her to be by his side and sleep with him. Her request grieved him, for he had long dreamed of being with her. However, he knew she had suffered a lot and he was willing to wait until she loved him again as he loved her.
"It's okay, Freya. I'll give you some space. I just want you to know that my room will be open whenever you need me. My bed yearns for your warmth. I'll let you rest alone," letting out a resigned sigh, he turned his back on her and left the
room.
Freya watched him go, her eyes reflecting a mixture of anxiety and fear. She walked over to the table by the bed and took a pill to neutralize some of the symptoms of her heat. As the medicine took effect, she lay back on the bed, immersed in a sea of tumultuous thoughts.
The silence of the room echoed with the solitude that now enveloped her. She closed her eyes, but images from the past haunted her, reminding her of betrayals and emotional wounds. She sighed deeply, wanting only the happiness of her children.
