REVENGE OF THE BETRAYED WOLF

Chapter Chapter fifty-five

Fenix was running with difficulty, the wind whipping her fur, when suddenly a wolf lunged at her; she skilfully dodged it. The situation darkened, however, when two more wolves pounced on her. In the midst of the struggle, the blue wolf opened her imposing maw, and in an instant, a rope was wrapped around Fenix's neck. Desperate, she shook her head to free herself, but realized she was being held by a group of men.

As she struggled against the rope, a wolf took advantage of the distraction to bite her back. Realizing she was under attack, out of weakness and survival instinct, she relinquished control to Freya. Feeling a stabbing pain in the side of her back, she brought her hands to the area to soothe the sting a little, but a voice made her look up.

Palas, his eyes squinted and a pistol in his hand, was looking at Freya with contempt.

"You're pathetic, Freya. The hour of your death has come. Now you'll pay for being born and for taking what was rightfully mine. Tell me where your children are. They too must die. I want to see Cronus defeated for changing me for you." "You're out of your mind, Pallas, leave my children out of this! If you intend to kill me, do it now!" cried Freya, her voice ringing with fury and helplessness.

"If you intend to kill her, do it now. We have no time to lose before her pack suspects she's missing. After that, we'll deal with these brats or, with any luck, they'll die of cold and starvation." Claudia let out a sinister laugh that echoed in the air, savoring the defeat of her late enemy's daughter.

Freya stared at Palas, wanting to throw herself on top of her and strangle her until her skin turned blue, but reality pinned her to the ground. Men armed with rifles and ropes surrounded her, destroying any attempt at escape.

In despair, Freya silently prayed to the goddess Selene that Cronus would soon find his children. She didn't care about dying again, she only cared about her little ones.

Meanwhile, Crono's chariots arrived, stopping in front of the three vehicles lining the road. Crono rushed out of the vehicle he was in, recognizing the car Freya and her children were in, he rushed in and quickly opened the doors, examining the interior with a worried expression. When she didn't see him, her eyes darkened and she clenched her fists tightly; panic gripped her body as uncertainty and fear grew in her mind.

"Sir, we found this she-wolf in one of the two parked wagons," said one of the men, gripping Eris's arm tightly.

Crono, his eyes full of anger, turned to Eris and, grabbing her by the arms, shook her and in a harsh, cutting voice asked.

"Where's my family?

Eris, visibly terrified, tried to explain.

"Crono, Claudia and Palas forced me to come. I swear I didn't mean to hurt your family."

Crono's patience was at an all-time high. Holding her tighter, he repeated in a threatening voice.

"Did I ask you where Freya and my children are?"

The fury in Crono's eyes was palpable, his teeth gritted with rage. At that moment, desperation and fear for his family's safety had driven him to seek answers, let alone kill this she-wolf on the spot.

Eris swallowed, feeling as small as an ant, aware that she couldn't escape her fate. She let out a stifled sigh before replying.

"They went into the forest. Palas and Claudia followed them. I didn't want to go with them and stayed here waiting."

Crono, the fury still palpable in his eyes, asked urgently.

"How many people does Palas have?"

"Over thirty wolves, who were left without a pack. They joined them to take revenge on you." Eris, visibly frightened, looked like a blank sheet of paper. With a desperate cry, she added: "Don't kill me, Crono. I'll do what you want, but I don't want to die." Her tears flowed uncontrollably, as if she were choking on her own words. At that moment, she knew her fate depended on Crono.

Crono let go of her arms and grabbed her neck with one hand, squeezing fiercely. Anger for his family, burning in his veins, repeated itself in his mind: "I will destroy the parasites who prey on my family. Crono's hand tightened, as he felt Eris's nails digging into his arms, gradually losing his strength. Realizing that she was no longer moving, he abruptly released her to the ground. Then he turned his intense gaze to his men, and exclaimed with fury. "Let's kill these wolf deserters. I don't want any of them alive. Leave, let's get my family."

The thirst for vengeance resounded in his voice as they prepared to confront the traitors who threatened his family. The forest became witness to Crono's fury as he and his men moved swiftly into it, but he stopped at the sound of his wolf's voice.

"Crono, I can smell our wolf. Stay on the left side, along the path.

Crono motioned for his men to follow him, and ran until he reached some rocks, guided by the scent that called to him. He stopped in front of the rocks with their narrow openings, confusion reflected on his face as he realized that the scent had reached them.

"Alpha Crono, what do we do now?" asked one of his men.

"I don't know. The smell of our moon only goes so far," replied Crono, looking puzzled. Just as he was about to leave, a small voice echoed through the air, stopping him dead in his tracks.

"Daddy, you've come to pick us up. Mommy said you came to pick us up," exclaimed Metis, who seconds earlier had glanced outside, recognizing his father's voice coming from outside the little cave. The other children, noticing their father's presence, came out in turn.

Crono turned quickly to see his children and bent down to welcome them into his arms.

"My puppies," he began to check, "they're fine, they're not hurt."

"Daddy, I was scared. Mommy left and said you were coming to get us," said Psyche, her face wet with tears.

"Where's Mom?" asks Ajax, worry showing on his face.

Crono gently strokes Ajax's head and tenderly says.

"You're going to go with Derex. He'll take you to the car, I'll get Mom and meet you there. Do you promise to wait for us there?"

The children nodded.

"Go get Mom and bring her back, Dad," said Metis..

Crono, his eyes watering, smiled at his little one and, his voice cracked with excitement, said.

"You don't know how happy I am to hear you call me Daddy.

He hugged his puppies again.

"You and your mommy are the most important thing in my life," he added, pulling them apart and looking at Derex, "I trust you. I trust you. Take them to the car, I'll be back soon. "Alpha, I'll guard them with my life," Dexter assured.

Crono took Métis in his arms and passed her to Dexter. Dexter placed her on his head, sitting on his shoulders.

"I can walk," Metis protested, realizing that her father still found her weak.

Dexter took Ajax and Psyche's hands and began to walk. Crono watched them walk away and, after giving the order, signaled his men to advance. Fury burned in his eyes, he just wanted to find his companion so he could be with his family again.
