Chapter Tanners Night
Tanner
I deserve an award for my patience. I want to climb on the roof and shout to the moon, “Goddess, we made some fucking progress!”
Aviry finally talked to me without an end goal to murder me. I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s still there. But, maybe after I let her beat my ass, she let go of some anger. I’m not going to lie, Aviry whooped all three of our asses.
But what kind of man fights a female? Especially when she’s in the right. She’s a very strong and fast woman, and I can appreciate the work she must’ve put in to become this fierce.
I was fine an hour after the fight, thanks to my healing abilities. And, I feel much more relieved now, mentally. She agreed to be our champion. Now we just have to jump the turning her into a wolf hurdle.
“I’m surprised she’s being a little more approachable.” My wolf Lance chuckled.
“I’m not talking to you, Lance. You’re the one who got me in this mess in the first place.” I shook my head and pushed my wolf back mentally.
I was sitting in the entertainment room, creating a schedule on my laptop for Aviry, when a chair pulled out in front of me. I sipped some water and continued typing.
“So, did you give her the handbook?” Alpha Nix asked, sitting down.
“Yeah, she has it. I told her to read it, and I would see her tomorrow. I’m prepared for all of her questions.” Because of course, she’ll have some, we didn’t tell her everything.
“Did you remember to blackout the winning section?” Nix asked.
“Yes, although she’ll be pissed if we don’t tell her.”
“Well, let her be pissed at me. She already knocked you and Cay unconscious today. Joel is refusing to leave his room.” Nixon scoffed.
“I’d rather not dwell on that. I made my peace with her tonight. As she put it, we have no beef.” I laughed, remembering how Aviry referenced our newfound relationship. “I’ll let you reveal the final part. Even though I already know she’ll reject it.”
“She can’t reject what I don’t offer.” I looked at Nix, confused. “I have a potential luna coming. She’ll be here on Monday.”
“YOU FOUND YOUR MATE?” I whispered, yelled, closing my laptop. We’ve been looking for our mate for years.
“No, I was…offered one.” He shrugged.
“Wait, what? Explain this shit Nix.” I focused all my attention on my alpha as he explained the situation. The more he spoke, the more I wanted to laugh.
“So, you what bought an online luna, Nix?” I laughed. “Wait, you said Monday, don't they offer same-day delivery.” I laughed even harder.
“It’s. Not. Funny.” Nix snarled, trying to control himself. “It was either find a suitable luna or settle for a human girl if she wins.”
“Don’t forget we have to turn her. So she won’t be human for long.”
“That doesn’t change anything. I don’t want her to be, my luna. I want someone who already knows our ways, someone who is already trained to control a pack beside me.”
“Trained? Like a dog Nix? Don’t forget your luna will become your chosen mate after you mark her. That means you’ll have to have actual relations. It’s not all pack business all the time.” I sighed and opened my laptop again. “My advice to you, as your friend, and beta. Give Aviry a chance. After we TEACH her, I’m certain she’ll be an amazing luna for you.”
“She hates everyone here, Tanner. A luna is supposed to be able to run a pack, not run them away.” Nix debated.
“She just got here, Nix. Damn, the girl just found out werewolves are real.” I closed my laptop again and drunk the rest of my water. “She needs time to adjust. I already told you she matches your personality. She’s exactly what you asked for, except the part that she’s human. You’re one glove, and she’s the other.”
I stood from my chair, it was getting late, and I had a long day ahead of me tomorrow. A one on one with Aviry was sure to be a headache. “I’m going to bed, Nix. Think about what I said. But also try your idea out. Just don’t make a permanent decision yet.”
As I was about to walk away, one of our teen warriors in training walked into the room. A black mark under his eye and a very interesting name scrawled on his forehead.
“Sean, come here,” I said, Nix turning in his chair to look on.
Sean walked over, his head held down. “Ye…yes, Beta. Hello Alpha Nix.” He greeted shyly.
“Are you starting an Aviry Mills fan club, Sean?” Nix asked curiously.
“No, sir.” Sean shook his head.
“So why is, Aviry Mills, written on your head? And why do you have a fake black eye?” I asked.
Sean took in a deep breath and released it. “Aviry Mills taught me the error of my ways. I am a weak man who threatened to fight a female. All women deserve respect. Thank you, Aviry Mills.”
A brief silence passed.
“HA HA HA!!! OH SHIT, DUDE. HAHA.” Nix was bent over laughing. “Wait…wait did she tell you to say that?” Sean nodded. “And you listened, why?”
Sean pointed to his eye, “Because, Alpha Nix, this black eye might be a real one next time. And Aviry is always watching.”
Nix burst out laughing again. I shook my head and grabbed my laptop.
“Sean, go clean your face. I don’t know what you did to provoke her, but I hope you learned your lesson.”
“Yes sir, I did.” Sean walked back out of the room. Leaving me with a grinning Nix.
“That Aviry is something else. I tell her not to hurt my people, so she finds a different way to teach them a lesson.” He shook his head, standing up and walking a few steps ahead. He looked back at me. “Maybe Tanner; I’ll see how this goes.” He left the room, taking the stairs to the third floor.
Those two are perfect for each other. Now ask me how I’ll get them to realize that. I have no fucking clue. I might have to call in a favor from the Moon Goddess. But, I’ve been asking her for a mate for years, and look how that’s turned out.
