Chapter 23
Alexander's icy gaze swept towards Jordan, who hurriedly explained, "Mr. Sterling, Miss Blackwood is currently with Maya."
Maya is Aveline's good friend, so it's quite normal for them to be together. In the past, in order to keep track of Aveline's every move, Alexander had Jordan add her on Facebook.
As Jordan explained, he took out his phone and scrolled through Maya's first moments. Maya, with her striking romantic cherry blossom pink curled hair, caught Alexander's eye immediately. Beside her was Aveline.
Their styles were worlds apart from their usual looks. Maya's waist-length hair had turned into a shoulder-length split-end style. With her slender face, her sunny, girlish charm from the past seemed much more melancholic now.
She looked down, wearing an oversized unisex shirt that revealed her delicate collarbone, exuding a restrained kind of beauty.
The caption read, "New beginning."
Alexander didn't realize that his hand holding the phone was trembling slightly. After pursuing her for an entire year, she had finally let go, something he had wanted, so why did his heart ache and feel suffocated?
No, his sister was buried in the ground. Why should she get a new beginning?
He wasn't feeling pity; he was just unwilling-
The torment was not over, and she couldn't escape it.
Alexander remained lost in his thoughts, and Jordan added, "Miss Anderson took Miss Blackwood to the Ivy Vibes Club."
He opened the next moments, and in the dimly lit setting. Aveline lazily leaned on a soft sofa. A handsome young man in white kneeled on one knee, feeding her grapes.
At that moment, Alexander nearly shattered Jordan's phone.
"To the Ivy Vibes Club."

The coldness lingered in the car, and Alexander couldn't get the image of that white-clad young man out of his mind.
He knew that Aveline couldn't resist him in a white shirt. Occasionally, she would even draw pictures of herself wearing a white shirt, imitating his look from his youth. In that moment, Alexander realized he didn't want a divorce!
Not only did he not want a divorce, but he also wanted to keep her with him forever, to make her suffer every day as a penance for Anthony's sins.
Jordan didn't dare to take a breath in the car. They couldn't fully comprehend the situation. In the past two years, Alexander had been accommodating to Nora, but it seemed like his feelings for her were not there.

Instead, no ignored Aveline, they felt he truly loved her.
Sometimes, love and hate were intertwined, and Alexander, blinded by his hatred, was willing to do anything to hurt her.
When Alexander rushed to the Ivy Vibes Club, there was no sign of those two. Aveline had brought Maya back home half an hour earlier, and Alexander came up empty-handed.
Alexander instructed people to search several places, but there was no trace of Aveline. Jordan even checked all the hotels in the city, but found no information.
"Mr. Sterling, your wife probably prearranged a place to stay. It takes time if she didn't go through an agency for a rental"
Alexander's brow furrowed. She had probably planned this from the start, leaving as soon as she got the money.
"Find her, even if you have to dig three feet into the ground!"
The good news was that Aveline hadn't brought a man on stage. The young man who had received her earlier was now tied up and kneeling before Alexander.
Alexander lit a cigar and looked at the two shivering men in the room. "Raise your heads."
The two men didn't expect to anger such a big shot. Their bodies trembled, and their voices quivered as they answered, "Mr. Sterling."
"Did you touch her?"

"No, no, the lady didn't like to be touched by others. She kept her distance from us and left with her friend after only having two drinks."
Alexander sneered, then leaned down to closely examine one of the men. The young man was heavily made up. and his strong perfume made Alexander frown. "She actually allowed you to feed her grapes." The young man was on the verge of tears, and Alexander said heartlessly, "Cut off his fingers." "Mr. Sterling, have mercy!"
Jordan also checked the room's surveillance. "Mr. Sterling, Miss Blackwood really didn't touch them." The two men cried with snotty noses and teary eyes. They had only wanted to find a wealthy lady and make a fortune. They had gone to great lengths to do so, but she hadn't even spared them a glance. Now, they had an intimidating figure in front of them. It was a miserable situation.
Alexander didn't bother with them anymore. He aimlessly drove around, knowing that Aveline had no place to stay in the city. Where would she go?
Since Anthony had been sent to the ICU, she no longer needed to stay at the hospital. Her phone was turned off, and Alexander had searched every place they had been to before.
Finally, he returned to their marital home. He had only stayed there briefly that night and hadn't been there for a long time..
In the room, all signs of life had been erased. The fresh flowers she placed on the dining table every day were gone, and even the vase was missing.
In the master bedroom, their wedding photos, along with all photos of her, had been cut out, leaving only him hanging on the wall. It looked eerie and lonely.
All the expensive clothes he had bought for her remained untouched after the Blackwood family went bankrupt. She had only taken some cheap items from street vendors.
The valuable jewelry and handbags had been given away, and the one valuable diamond ring he had given her had been returned.
Her toothbrush, water glass, and bath towel, all traces of her in the bathroom, were gone. Only their couple's electric toothbrush remained on the shelf, solitary and abandoned.
Alexander swiftly walked to the baby's room, which was Aveline's sanctuary.
He hadn't realized that his palms were sweaty. With a click, the door opened, and he stood at the 104

entrance, looking at the empty baby's room.
In that moment, Alexander felt a chill running through his entire body.
She had completely severed all ties with him.
"Mr. Sterling, you can be rest assured. I checked every airline and passenger transport company, and there's no record of Miss Blackwood purchasing a ticket. Mr. Blackwood is still in the hospital, so she won't leave."
It was then that Alexander noticed something. He could easily have killed Anthony, but he hadn't. It was probably because, deep down, he knew that Anthony was Aveline's last straw.
As long as Anthony was alive, she would always be under his control.
"Find her and bring her back."
"Yes."
Alexander lay on the master bedroom's bed, where they had slept separately. He, too, couldn't sleep at night.
He knew it had nothing to do with Aveline, but he couldn't get past this obstacle in his heart.
Every time he saw her happy, he thought of his pitiful sister. It was her fate to be Anthony's daughter. This was what she should bear."
He loved her intensely while simultaneously hating her, and he mercilessly tormented her to relieve the anger inside him.
Perhaps he should consider a different way of punishing her.
