Chapter 22 Chapter
22
Two recently heartbroken women teamed up, and Maya found handsome Tony. Tony was instantly taken by Aveline's appearance and recommended the trendy hairstyle currently in demand.
Aveline promptly refused, saying, "Cut it short, the shorter, the better."
"Miss, although the trend now is the cool and bold look, I personally think that too short hair might limit your style. How about keeping it shoulder-length? It not only makes you look younger but also suits various occasions."
"No need."
"Miss's hair is long and black; it's been there for many years. Cutting it all off would be a shame," Tony sighed.
Aveline looked at her reflection in the mirror. Even though she had been sleep-deprived and her complexion was dull these days, her striking features couldn't be hidden. Her long black hair, untouched. for years, cascaded down naturally, giving her a bewitching appearance.
Alexander liked her long hair. She hadn't had it trimmed for years, so when she saw that Tony was reluctant to start cutting. Aveline picked up the scissors and said with a faint smile, "I'll do it myself." Without any hesitation, she began snipping away, and the black strands of hair fell to the ground, as if severing the connection to that part of her youthful past.
"Alright, the rest is up to you," Aveline handed the scissors back to Tony, letting him style her as he pleased.
Maya, with her new pink hair, saw Aveline's new hairstyle. Her first reaction was astonishment, and her second was admiration.
"I finally understand what it means to look good in everything, even if you wear a potato sack! Aveline, you look so chic!"
In order to complement Aveline's middle-parted style, Maya quickly took her shopping, determined to buy her some unisex clothing. They strolled through the streets, turning heads wherever they went.
As night fell, Maya pulled Aveline to a store window and took a selfie, posting it on her social media with the caption, "A new beginning."

Aveline accompanied her to have the steak she used to refrain from eating. Maya was delighted, saying, "Aveline, do you remember how we were back in high school? We were barely teenagers, and it seemed like the most challenging thing in the world was solving function equations. Looking back now, equations can be easily solved by plugging in the formulas. But men, no matter how you calculate, they still leave you wounded.
Aveline hadn't touched alcohol in a long time, but tonight, she wanted to indulge for the last time. She took a sip and said, "That's because you were a poor student. I never thought function equations were difficult."
"Yes, yes, who can compare to you, the academic genius? I remember when you skipped a grade in high school at the age of thirteen. I thought a junior high school student had walked into the high school section by mistake. Little did I know you were a prodigy."
Maya poured her another glass and raised her glass, saying, "Genius or not, let's toast to our single life. Without that scumbag, I can buy whatever I want from now on."
As she spoke, Maya's eyes welled up with tears again. "Aveline, do you know? I used to buy discounted synthetic steaks for twenty dollars at the supermarket. I lived frugally to support his education. I gave my all for our future. I'm only 24 years old this year. I've never even bought a decent dress. How could he treat me this way?"
Every family has its problems. Aveline hadn't even cleaned the snow in her own house yet. She could only gently advise Maya to look forward.
She initially planned to take her home, but Maya insisted on taking her to the Ivy Vibes Club.
Aveline sighed and understood that Maya needed an outlet for her feelings.
Despite her busy schedule, she had a year to recuperate, but returning to the United States after handling these matters didn't mean she could immediately move on.
The thought of her chemotherapy and the likelihood of her not surviving it had Aveline worried that she wouldn't be able to have fun with Maya for a long time. She didn't refuse.
It was her first time in such a place. Maya was extremely excited, pointing out the club's welcoming staff. Aveline didn't pay much attention; she was busy looking at a bold and vivid black horse painting in the lobby. Unbeknownst to her, Maya noticed her lack of interest and thought she was concerned about her purity.
Little did she know that Aveline was more focused on her upcoming chemotherapy, and she didn't want to get too drunk
Chapter 22
around with other women, did he ever think about you? You're divorced now, don't be afraid. Tonight, let loose! I have money
Everyone knows real estate commissions are high, and she sold villas. A single transaction would often earn her tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands. Maya, being young, pretty, and resourceful, earned a considerable commission over the year. If she hadn't been using that money to establish a home for her boyfriend, Maya would have also been a small fortune. She could afford an extravagant night every once in a while.
Maya was determined to party like there's no tomorrow tonight.
Noble Springs Residence.
After a day of medical care, the child's fever had finally subsided, bringing relief to Alexander. He tucked the child in and quietly left the room.
Nora, wearing a graceful smile, came to welcome him and said, "Alexander, it's getting late. Why don't you stay here tonight at Noble Springs Residence? I'm worried that the child might wake up again at night. You know, he doesn't cry as much when you're around.'
Alexander rubbed his slightly weary temples and replied, "I have a prior engagement. Dr. Hartford is staying, so you can ask him if you need anything."
Nora hesitated, realizing that she couldn't push too hard. She thought he would have divorced Aveline by now if she made the phone call at 10,30 like she had planned. She didn't expect things to take a different turn.
She couldn't rush; she could only respond empathetically, "Alright, please be careful on your way back." Alexander nodded and left. As soon as he got into his car, Jordan handed him a set of keys. "Mr. Sterling, these are the villa keys that Miss Blackwood sent."
Alexander's expression darkened, and he spoke sarcastically, "She's moving fast now that the money's in her hands."
Jordan didn't want to say much but decided to mention what he had seen on Maya's social media not long ago. After a brief hesitation, he said, "Mr. Sterling, Miss Blackwood seems to have... truly given up on
you."
