REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON

Chapter 21: Ripples of Shadows

Kyle's pov

Getting her food. What was I thinking? She never said she was hungry. I had no idea what I should have gotten her. I knew nothing about her now that I thought about it. She seemed tired after the first lesson so I assumed she was hungry.

She began to eat the food inside the food flash. It was made before I came to the bayou. I made sure it was made properly and tasted it myself.

I knew I was right for buying her food even if I wasn't sure at first.

I let her eat before we started the next lesson. I had something else in mind which was similar to stealth but a bit harder.

"Okay, break's over." I said as I watched her take the last spoon of her meal.

"Let's go. " I said and led her to the edge of a murky bayou pool.

"Water," I said. "Can be both an ally or enemy just like the ground. We are going to move through it without a wave. And when you don't you would have learnt another method of stealth." "Alright Kyle. Show me." she requested.

I nodded. "It is all about balance and control, Lyla. You have to be one with the water. Move in complete harmony with it." I glanced at her.

"Watch me closely."

I stepped in the water and focused on keeping the weight of my feet evenly distributed in the water. My movements slow. I focused on minimizing any form of disturbance unless I would form a wave. I felt the water respond. It began to ripple but it didn't form a wave. I was delighted.

Lyla's eyes were on the water. "Your turn. "I said to her.

She stepped into the water. Her first few steps were heavy and sent ripples through the water along with waves.

I didn't say a word. Instead, I watched as she adjusted her self and balanced herself. Her movements became balance.

"Good," I encouraged. "Now think about you being lighter to the point you can barely touch the surface."

She nodded. I saw how concentrated she was and I was happy she was putting much effort.

As she took another step, the ripples were not as much as the first one. I could see she was getting it.

"It's like a dance." I said softly. "You have to move with the water, not against it. Do you get me?" I asked and she nodded.

She took a few more steps but the water remained below her feet. She was getting the hang of it.

"That's it." I was proud of her. "You're doing great."

She began to smile. "Thanks, Kyle. This is really incredible." she said smiling.

"It's all you. "I responded. As much as I wanted to get all the credit, she was doing this herself.

I suddenly heard something through the forest.

Like a branch which broke. I decided to listen more.

I heard the footsteps retreating. I knew someone was watching us. I saw the Lyla was busy practicing her balance in water so I didn't want to distract her. And she wouldn't realise I was gone. I ran off as I looked for sign of someone.

I stopped when I saw a figure.

Within two seconds, I was in front of it.

He was covered from head to toe so I couldn't see who it was.

"Who are you?" I asked the person..

He refused to say a word. I had this feeling that this was all my father's doing. Since he wasn't ready to talk. I decided to take matters into my own hands.

"Since you won't say who you are and what you are here to do, I will get myself. " I said and grabbed the person.

He didn't seem muscular and he didn't put up much of a fight. I grabbed his head covering and opened It.

It wasn't a he. It was a she. She looked very familiar for some reason.

So my dad has decided to send women to do his dirty work. How shameless could he be? For some reason, the lady's fave seemed so familiar. I had met her somewhere, I just couldn't remember.

She was a werewolf, I saw the color of her eyes. And I knew she was part of the Rouge's pack.

Now I remembered. She was the girl who served me a herbal tea during my strong hangover. I knew she wasn't good news from the beginning and I said she was weird.

I wasn't ready for m dad to ask me questions concerning Lyla. And after everything my dad still went against my wish and sent someone to follow me.

He didn't care about anyone but himself. I was prepared to kill the person he sent to follow me but I could tell kill a girl no matter how annoying she was.

That's was one of the rules I told myself so as to not become my father one day. Never kill a child or a woman.

I had another idea. I dragged the girl forward and looked into her eyes. "You will go home and tell my father that you don't know where I am. That I escaped when I figured someone was watching me." I told her and she didn't blink. "I will tell him just that. " she said without moving or trying to run as I let her go.

"Okay, you may go."

We were safe for now. I just compelled her to do whatever I want. She would only tell my father was I told her to tell him.

"Nice try, dad. "I muttered and went back to where I left Lyla.

"Where were you?" she asked "I was looking everywhere for you. I actually thought you went home so I started to get ready to leave. So, where did you go?"

She questioned again.

"I just went for a stroll "I lied.

"While on training? That isn't the case. At least you would have answered your phone."

She said and I brought out my phone to see missed calls with messages.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was ringing. It must have been on silent. "I responded.

"Whaever. Anyway thanks for the meal. And i gotta go, it's getting late." she said.

"I gotta go. See you." she said and with that she was gone.

I thought it was best to not tell Lyla the truth. I didn't want her panicking over my dad thereby losing interest in training of course.

I got my things and left too. Lyla was improving fast and liked it.
