Chapter 471
Chapter 471 Argument
Anaya slowly walked forward with her hands on her waist. She said with a long face, "He left in another direction."
She had seen it just now. It was Trenton who took Edward away.
Trenton knew what he should do better than Samuel. At most, he would
threaten Edward and would not hit him. Thus, Anaya did not intend to tell Reina about it.
Reina did not suspect anything. She turned around and realized that Jaylon was still holding her.
Jaylon noticed her cold expression and let her go before she spoke. "Sorry."
He rarely felt guilty toward others, and he did not like to apologize.
However, ever since he reunited with Reina, he frequently apologized to Reina.
Reina was silent for a moment and moved her eyes to the sparkling lake.
"Thank you for what happened just now."
It was windy today, so her voice was very low.
But Jaylon still heard it.
He raised his hand and tried to hold her hand.
Reina waited for a while before she shook his hand off.
Although the result was the same as before, the few seconds of hesitation before she shook him off was enough to make Jaylon happy.
At least, it was much better than before.
After recuperating for a period, Reina was much better, and her face was much rosier.
After meeting Edward that day, she did not go out much and was worried that Edward would come to pester her again.
However, the next few days were peaceful. Edward never appeared. Reina put her guard down and took a job as a translator.
Although the work of translating online was paid well, it was not available every day.
When she was free, she would occasionally translate for companies to earn some money.
Anaya was worried that Reina would go out alone. She wanted to ask the bodyguards to follow her, but Reina refused.
Reina was going to do a live translation for someone today. It was inconvenient to bring a bodyguard.
Anaya had no choice but to let her go.
The live translation work went very smoothly. The corporate executives spoke highly of Reina's reaction to the changes and her professional ability. They friended her on Line and said that they would work with her again when they needed her help.
Coming out of the company, Reina went to the bus stop to wait for the bus.
In the end, the bus did not come, but Edward came.
Edward's arm was dislocated, wrapped in a gauze that was hung on his neck.
There was also a piece of gauze on his forehead and a few bruises on his face. He looked a little messy.
Edward strode to Reina and said with a gloomy face, "Reina, you are quite awesome. I just wanted to see you. I went to your house to see you several times but you refused to see me!"
Reina guessed that Jaylon had someone stop him outside the door. She asked, "Why are you looking for me?"
"Are you kidding me? Can't you see what's happening to me? Your man
asked someone to beat me up. He didn't pay for my medical expenses! He
let me go to the hospital myself.
"Your man hurt me. Shouldn't you compensate me for him?"
Reina said without hesitation, "I have no money."
"You live in such a magnificent place. How can you have no money?"
Edward suddenly became excited. "Reina, now that you are rich and married into a good family, are you going to ignore us?
"My injuries were caused by your man. He is so rich. Just give me 100 thousand dollars! Or I'll call the police."
In the face of his unreasonable behavior, Reina was very calm. "Suit
yourself."
Jaylon valued kinship very much, so he also had compassion for Reina's family.
In the past, when Lacey crossed the line, he made a move against Lacey only after he had been forced into a corner.
Edward had only said a few words to her that day. Jaylon could not beat Edward up like that.
Edward used to be a gangster. In the past two years, he had been collecting protection money. Reina guessed that the injuries on his body were caused by his friends.
She was so fearless that she pissed Edward off.
But he could not go to the police.
After all, the injuries on his body had nothing to do with Jaylon.
After Trenton took Edward away that day, he only warned Edward and did
not do anything to him.
His injuries were caused by his accidentally crashing into someone while he was riding a motorcycle after he was drunk a few nights ago.
The one he bumped into was a little girl. The girl was seriously injured and
was still lying in the hospital.
Her parents wanted him to compensate her, saying that if he couldn't
compensate her, they would sue him.
He had been borrowing money over the past two days. He still owed a lot of
gambling debts, so no one dared to lend him money.
In desperation, he came to Reina and wanted to blackmail her.
However, Reina did not believe him at all.
This morning, that family gave him an ultimatum, saying that if he couldn't
take out the money, they would sue him tomorrow.
He was very worried. It was pointless to threaten her, so Edward grabbed
Reina by the collar and said hatefully, "I asked you to give me money. Did
you hear me?
"We are family. You married into a rich family to enjoy your life, but I have to live in a dark corner like a cockroach. Why is that?
"If you don't give me the money today, don't even think about leaving!"
Reina was worried about the baby in her belly, so she didn't dare to make a
move. She grabbed his wrist and pulled it. "I have no money! Let me go!"
Edward scolded, "Fuck you! You married such a rich man. How can you have no money? If you don't give me money today, don't even think about leaving!"
As he spoke, he seemed to feel that it wasn't terrifying enough to just grab her collar. So he pinched Reina's neck. "Hurry up and give me the money! Otherwise, I will kill you right now!"
Reina could not breathe. Her face turned red and she slapped his arm hard.
The bag on her shoulder slipped down.
She said with difficulty, "Let go."
They made a lot of noise. The people around noticed the situation there
and stepped aside, not daring to get involved.
Just as Reina was about to suffocate, a young man in a volunteer vest rushed out of the crowd and pulled Edward away.
Edward staggered back a few steps and was about to curse when he was
punched in the face.
He didn't stand steadily in the first place, but after taking this punch, he fell
to the ground.
By the time he regained his balance, Reina and the person who had just hit
him had disappeared, leaving only Reina's bag on the ground.
Edward spat on the ground and cursed.
Some people around took out their phones to call the police. Edward was afraid of the police, so he picked up Reina's bag and left ignominiously.
