Chapter 14: "I'm here for answers"
I bang on Daniel door at one o’clock in the morning. I set the bag I pack before leaving my room on the ground. Knowing it might take him awhile to open the door. After Bambi left I took a three-hour nap. I plan on going to see my mom tonight since today was a Friday. I’m going to ask her where my father is. Thinking back now my mom probably knows where he’s at.
I let out a frustrated groan going to knock on his door again. I was about to knock on the door again when it open suddenly. Daniel looks down at me with squinted eyes. I smiled up at him knowing that I woke him. He runs his hand through his hair with a groan. That’s when I notice he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
“Why are you knocking on my door at one in the morning?” He grumbled.
“Good morning Daniel! I need your help.” I told him grabbing my bag from the floor.
“What…It’s one o’clock in the morning. How did you know I didn’t have a roommate?” He asks as I walk into his room.
“I didn’t, but I’m sorry for waking you up. I need your help to get off the school ground.”
He shut the door turning to look at me. I glanced down at his uncovered chest. I think I kinda drooled a little. I reach up to wipe my mouth looking away from his perfect body.
“What you need to get off school ground?” He asks walking over to his closet grabbing a small duffel bag.
“I need to interrogate my mom. I think my dad may know what’s up with me.” I told him.
“Your invincibility powers?” He said zipping up his bag.
I watched him move around his room. He barely even hesitates when I ask him for help. He grabs a bag and fills it up in two minutes. He now stood in front of me his bag hung over his shoulder. A shirt was now covering his perfect chest. I think I actually frowned at that.
“Yes.” I finally answered him.
A small smirk form on his face “Then we better get going. You got money for the plane ticket?”
He walks over to his door opening it. He motion for me to get moving out the door. I nod in an answer as I walk by him. He shut the door behind him grabbing my wrist as I go the wrong way.
“Wrong way!” he whispered pulling me down the opposite way.
“But the front gates is right down that hall,” I told him.
“You really think that those guards are just going to let us walk out of here?”
“Ok, no. You know another exit?”
“Yeah, where going under bookworm!”
I don’t know how Daniel knows that a secret tunnel was behind a picture frame in the boys bathroom. Like what a weird place to put one, but a smart place. It took us a couple hours before we came to the tunnels end. We walk in silence the whole way there, only speaking when warning each other of objects in the way. Daniel push opens the small door revealing the bright stars in the sky. I followed him out onto what looks like a mountain.
“How far does this take you from the school?” I ask him looking at the view.
“About two miles.” he told me.
“I didn’t even notice we walk two miles. So, how long until we get to the next town?” I started walking down the path.
“Ten miles actually….”
I stop in my tracks turning to face him with a shocked look. He almost bumps into me looking down at me with an amused look. What does walking ten miles humor him about? I just flipping walk two, but ten….I don’t think I’ll make it.
“Ten miles?” I ask him.
“If you walk, but were not walking.” he moved pass me over to some bushes.
He walked into the bushes disappearing on me. I looked at him in confused. I moved to follow him after a minute of hearing nothing, but a loud engine stops me. Then out came out Daniel on a motorcycle.
“If we take this bad boy it’s about three to four miles.” He told me with a smile.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about!”
After stashing the bike in a safe place we took the next flight home. Like last time I slept the whole way there. I felt someone shake my shoulders to wake me up. I came to suddenly wiping the drool from my lips looking over at Daniel. The sunbeam in my face letting me know it’s morning.
“You drooled all over my shoulder.” He said pointing at the big wet spot on his shirt.
“Why you just let me make a pool on your shoulder?” I ask him grabbing a tissue to soak it up a little.
“You were sleeping.” He said with a shrug.
I look up at him in the face trying to read him. He looks away from me watching the people make their way off the plane. I smiled crumbling up the tissue standing up from the seat. I took the bags down from the compartment handing him his.
“Tell me I’m right or wrong?” I ask him again.
“Your Who…” I cut him off by walking away.
A soon as I walk off the plane I felt the humidity that comes in Florida. I breathe in the air of home with a smile. I now realize how much I actually miss this place. Ohio climate is noticeably different. It’s cooler there while it’s warmer here. I waited for Daniel inside the airport since he decides to take his sweet time.
Now that I’m here and about twenty minutes from my own home, I felt a jolt of energy run through me. My mom and I have been blowing this off way too long. I don’t know if I every would have to ask my mom where my dad was. He might have the answer to all my questions.
“Let’s go bookworm.” I look over to see Daniel walking off towards the exit.
I rolled my eyes running to catch up with him. He led me out the airport towards another motorcycle. What’s the deal with these motorcycles and how is it that they appear wherever we go?
“What, You have motorcycles station at every location in the world?” I ask hoping on behind him.
“No. I can’t station one at every part of the world, just most of the world.” He said handing me a helmet.
“My dad actually owns ten airports around the state. I have a motorcycle parked in every one of that location.” He told me.
“So your father didn’t leave you and your mom?” I ask him curiously.
“I don’t think he could have left if he wanted to. Falling for a vampire was his handcuffs.”
“Wow, your mom is a vampire. Is she still around with you guys?”
“Yeah, my parents are still very much in love.”
That’s like the best thing to hear. I didn’t even think of a woman vampire getting together with men’s that’s human. It’s good to hear that his parents are still madly in love. If only I can say the same about mine.
I told Daniel my address before we hit the road. I wrap my arms around his waist tightly watching the trees and cars pass by. When we finally pulled up in the driveway I notice my mom’s car was here and one car I don’t recognize.
“Wonder who’s visiting my mom?” I wondered out loud sliding off the bike.
“Who do you think it is?” Daniel asks getting off after me.
“I don’t know, but were about to find out.”
I made my way up the walkway to the front porch. I knocked on the door before going in. I look back to see Daniel studying the car.
“Mom!” I called out.
I walk more into the house seeing no difference from when I left it.
“Anglia!” My mom called shocked.
She came running out the kitchen looking over to me in shocked. Daniel came up behind me coming to stand next to me.
“Hello, Ms. Deon.” He said noticing my mom standing in front of us.
“Uh..Hi. Who’s this and what are you doing here?” She asks still in shocked.
“I’m here for the answer,” I told her setting my bag on the floor.
