Realm of Wings

Chapter Chapter Nine - Sorting things out

A/n: Yes I know, it was a few days... Two chapters, here you go 😘

Kallan, hotel room in Shigatse:

“So, first you want to put me in chains and now you are accusing me of lying?” She furrowed her brows and pointed towards her chest, complementing her comment.

I don’t know what this woman is up to, but clearly, she is lying to me. There is no way that she had all her powers from birth and found out what she can do on her own, it’s just not possible! Besides, even though I have received all my powers only ten months ago, I know for a fact that she is taught to keep her mind closed as I can’t hear a single word she thinks.

But even though I can’t believe what she is saying to me, something is stirring in my mind, should she be truthful to her words. It had always been odd to me that the Fae only receive their magic at the age of hundred-forty. Why only then? Why not sooner or only when we accomplish some difficult task? I had asked my father about it, on several occasions, but he never wanted to answer me.

Just like the fact that there is nothing written before the three generations of royalty before me, or the fact that our lands are divided in two by some unknown force, her having the magic from birth is something that is questioning me a lot too.

“I’m Jade, by the way.” She suddenly said, without me even asking for her name. I locked my gaze on her face, trying to show mine to be indifferent upon hearing it, even though I hated to admit that the name suited her. “I just thought that you should know who you’re accusing. That’s all.” She said while crossing her arms again, pulling her shirt even tighter against her chest, pushing the lace of her bra, that she had flashed before, through the thin fabric.

As her long blond hair that cascaded down her back, while her too large of a t-shirt was tucked underneath her armpits, showing the cleavage that she has, made me clench my jaws, I didn’t want to get close to this woman. It’s not that the scars on her face, like the cut on her left eyebrow or the gash on her lower lip, or the bruises that she had gotten from the explosion earlier, took away the beauty of her face, but I just simply don’t trust her.

There is too much that I don’t understand of which she isn’t giving me the answer to. Like how can it be that she has never encountered one of us; how does she not know about Fae or even heard of the meaning of it being one; and how is she keeping her mind blocked if she hadn’t been through the ritual?

I need to try something, to figure out how this is all possible.

She had taken a seat at the other end of the couch, where I took a seat earlier, so I scooted over to her, focusing on her amber eyes while lowering my voice and commanding her to show her, her wings. I needed to see them to know how strong she might be, to see what kind of power she might have, other than the balls of light, healing and mesmerizing talents she has. All Fae can do those things after the ritual, it’s just that our wings show us how strong they are and they give us an additional power. And if she can block her mind, she can read minds as well, so she must have been given the ritual of a royal, I assume.

“My what?” She chuckled, not caring that I was so close to her that I could kiss her if I wanted to.

She had just sat still, didn’t blush from my boldness of coming this close or even trying to command her to do something. She just truly didn’t care what I would have done, as she knew already that I wasn’t here to hurt her. Of course, I couldn’t read her mind but her face said it all, she is a force to be reckoned with, a strong and fierce woman that is not easily tamed. I like that in a woman, but her chuckles threw me off-side.

“Summon your wings.” I commanded her again, baffled by the fact that I even had to repeat myself. How strong is she?

“Are you joking me? Do you have wings?” She asked me in return, completely startled while raising one brow in question.

“Yes, you have them too, don’t be stupid.” I slumped back on the couch, back to my non-trusting demeanour, because she had just been able to withstand my power to command, twice. It was defeating me actually, that she was able to, I mean I’m the prince of E’ne Belanore, my father’s kingdom, for crying out loud!

“No, I don’t.” She said while crossing her arms. “Show me yours then, if you’re so keen on seeing mine.” She countered with a smug look on her face as if she had won this round.

Even though I know that she is lying about her abilities and now having the audacity to say that she doesn’t have wings, you can always sign me up for a little game. I never walk away from a challenge, certainly not one that a woman had initiated towards me. So, the little flare in her amber coloured eyes needed to be doused with some showing off of my magic.

I stood up from the couch and within a flash, my black, thick veined, yet sharp-edged wings spanned the back of my body, flapping just a few strong times to make me elevate from the floor and then land my feet back on the carpet.

Jade’s jaw dropped, I could tell that she was genuinely amazed that my wings were this strong and a smug smile came upon my face now. Her companion, Neil, looked up from his laptop as well and also his jaw had dropped in a shocked expression. Jade stood up from the couch and walked around my back, I glanced back to see what she would do and when she raised her hand and her fingers went forward, I flinched away.

“What are you doing?” I asked her perplexed, she surely wasn’t going to touch my wings, was she?

“I- I’m sorry, I just thought that… no never mind.” She said, stumbling over her own words.

I hesitated to ask her my next question, as her facial expressions had proven me wrong and let me know that she wasn’t intrigued by the shape or colour of my wings, but by the fact that she truly never had seen wings at all. Was she lying again, simulating a fake expression, or could it be that she really didn’t have wings? Was that the reason why she didn’t use them when I pushed her out of the window? “You weren’t lying were you?” I asked her, still a bit guarded. “About not having wings, I mean.” I elaborated and she shook her head.

“No, there is no reason for me to lie. I need answers and if I am lying to you it’s not helping my case, is it?” She said, replying to me in all honesty, even though I had to scoff for still not truly believing her.

I sighed to her, realizing that she had been telling me the truth at least about the wings. “Our wings are strong but delicate, and we take pride in taking care of them and keeping them in pristine condition. We either only take care of them on our own or let our partner take care of them. But we consider it to be a rather intimate action between two Fae.” I explained to her.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come forward in that way, it’s just that I’m extremely curious and only wanted to experience what they would feel like.” She said without hesitation.

I suddenly heard the door of the hotel room open and close, and when I checked I noticed that Neil had left the room. The Englishman had probably not wanted to get in the way of our conversation and went to give his ‘boss’ some privacy.

“You’re not a virgin, are you?” I asked Jade with a slight smile on my face, knowing the answer already as she had taken off her clothes earlier, without a single thought to it at all. But I was curious about her as well, as she is intriguing me with her character and actions.

“I’m hundred-sixty-three years old, what do you think?” She countered me with a smile. “Besides, I’m still curious about how they feel. I promise I won’t have an ulterior motive, other than just feeding my curiosity. Would you let me touch them, just this once?” She asked me politely, and I couldn’t detect any malicious intent on her face, so should I let her? Would it harm me?

I sighed but eventually turned around for her to be standing in front of my back. I glanced behind me to see if she would actually touch my wings and when I saw her fingers go forward and graze the base of my right wing, I shivered in delight. Her gentle touch went upwards, following the edge of my upper wing, up until she couldn’t reach further. The apex of my upper wings was higher than she was tall, so she couldn’t reach up till the top, but even so, she didn’t stop her expert research there.

She let her fingers trace some of the veins and nerves, as they were easy to detect as the blackness of them contrasted to the shadowy cells in between them. I didn’t want her touches to have aroused me, as I wasn’t in the mood for it now. I had only let her do this because she had never seen wings. But even so, her surprised gasps and exploring touches churned my emotions and made my thoughts go haywire. My head tilted to the side once my skin started to tingle on my back. I tried to shake off the pleasant feeling of her movements by rolling my shoulders and straightening my back, but it happened to be futile.

“Are all Fae wings the same?” She asked me while breathing against my back, that’s how close she stood.

“No.” I tried to answer in all decency, but it came out more huskily than I had intended. “There are a lot of different colours and shapes.” I continued to explain, hoping that she couldn’t detect how horny she was making me with her ministrations. She hummed in response, but kept touching my wings, following the edges and curves, until I couldn’t take it anymore.

I let the magic dissipate, at which my wings disappeared and I quickly turned around to cage her against the wall. She gasped from the movement but was otherwise not frightened by my action.

“I thought you were just feeding my curiosity, or are you feeling something different?” She asked with a smug smile on her face while putting her hands on my chest. Only now I realized that she had completely done this on purpose, to rile me up and to see how long it would take for me to react to her. Cunning little fox.

“I told you we only did this when being intimate, and even though it’s just your curiosity, you are feeding me as well.” I said while grinding my hips against hers, making her feel what she is doing to me, not giving in to losing this battle. “So, yes, I’m feeling something different.” I chuckled to her, while I could see a flash of red on her cheeks and the small muscles in her neck contract together, as she clenched her jaw.

Even though I enjoyed the fact that I could rile her up as well, I’m treading a dangerous pass here. This is not what I had intended to find in this place, at all! I don’t know enough about her, to be sure that she is someone I can trust. She is either incredibly strong or still lying about something, as even though I thought I had her distracted just now, her mind was still clouded. During this moment, she still managed to keep the blockage up on her mind and it was bugging the hell out of me. I don’t know what her intentions are, but she definitely is not going to be without me. I need to keep an eye on her at all times.

A knock on the door interrupted us, which made Jade take a few deep breaths and push me away to walk over to the door. Clearly, she had been aroused as well but wasn’t going to let the others know of that.

Both Neil and Trixie came inside again and I took a moment to try and read Neil’s mind, as I hadn’t had the time before. He didn’t have his mind blocked but his thoughts couldn’t help me any further either. He truly doesn’t know what was going on now, as he was pushing out question after question about me and Trixie, and the safety of ‘Miss Jade’ as he so kindly kept thinking about her.
