Realm of Wings

Chapter Chapter Eight - Clearing the air

Jade, Shigatse district, police station:

“We need to leave!” Green-eyes yelled towards his companion, the dark-skinned female who had been standing stealthily in the other corner before. She on her turn crouched behind the desk and twirled her fingers in front of her chest, making it glow purple, using her core energy to do something that I couldn’t. It baffled my mind as I saw a perfect duplicate of her beautiful body rising and running towards the incoming crowd. She had summoned a perfect copy of herself!

Even though I didn’t know these people, I hesitated for the need to help this woman, surely she wasn’t going to give up her life, just for me, was she? But as I focused my gaze towards the bullets that were flying around everywhere, some of them just shot right through her body! The copy of this woman was just that, an illusion of some sorts!

A sudden tug on my arm let me push myself out of my thoughts, dragging me after the green-eyed man to leave the building at the back, and there he pushed me straight through a window! Luckily we were only one level up, so I hadn’t had fallen deep, but still, the landing on my ankles and the roll after, wasn’t really pleasant. I know I am stronger than any human alive, and more agile too, but the fact that this man just dragged me out and expected me to be fine when jumping out of a window was strange, to say the least.

I know that I just saw a female use some sort of magic, making it aware to me that she was a fairy too, even though I couldn’t do what she could. But still, his actions and expectation of me landing safely on the ground, was just unheard of!

As soon as I got up again, from my tumble against a garbage container that stood in front of me, green-eyes was cursing heavily. “For crying out loud! Why didn’t you – Never mind, we need to go!” He yelled again, grabbing my arm, for the third time, and forcing me to follow him.

My skirt had been ripped at the sides, my shoes were nowhere to be found and I was running barefoot in a Chinese alley, following an unknown man and woman to god knows where.

“Where are we going?!” I yelled to them, with the man running in front of me and the woman behind me. Alarms and sirens were blaring through the streets now, all focused on the police station, while we tried to get as far away from it as we could.

When we turned around another corner, green-eyes suddenly stopped and pushed me against a wall by pushing his hand against my throat. Immediately I used my skills to fight him off, pushing him backwards and making sure that he couldn’t come near to me again. A look of surprise jumped on his face, but I kept my senses going as I didn’t want the female to attack me in an unexpected action as well.

“Do you want to go back?” He suddenly snapped at me while pointing towards the building we had just jumped out of.

“No! I’d rather go to my hotel room and look through the footage to see who bombed the station.” I blurted out, not exactly sure what I was getting at. Why am I telling him the truth?

There were a million questions roaming through my mind, thinking both he or she could have been the one that I had seen on the footage, as they were both aware of the magic in our world. But why hadn’t I seen one of them before? I have never had gotten a lead towards someone who could use magic, and suddenly there were two of them standing in front of me right now.

“No, not going to happen, you are coming with us because you are arrested for your transgressions.” He stated, confusing me even more. Is there a law against using magic? Since when?

“The hell I am! I’m here to figure out what happened a few days ago and suddenly you two popped up and messed up my whole mission! Who are you guys anyway?” I continued.

“We messed up your mission? We have been sent out to exactly do the same! Who send you?” The woman suddenly asked surprised and lowered her guard in confusion.

Clearly, all three of us were confused and not trying to hurt each other, even though green-eyes here tried to arrest me earlier. What the hell is going on here? Suddenly another bomb went off and the three of us looked to where the blast came from. “Let’s get to my hotel room and we can talk there, is that alright with you, green-eyes?” I asked while looking at him in the so-called green orbs.

He was startled for a moment, as I had boldly given him a strange name, but composed himself quickly. “So, you haven’t been the one that used magic here, a few days ago?” He asked me and I shook my head. “Fine, we’ll go to your hotel room.” He conceded.

“Neil, get me the footage the minute before the bomb exploded,” I stated while I burst into the hotel room, followed by green-eyes and his companion.

Neil furrowed his brows for a moment but he had never disobeyed one of my commands and he wasn’t going to start doing now either, so with a nod, he sat himself down behind his computer and hacked his way through the police network. It would take some time for him to find what I wanted so I turned my way towards our two visitors.

“I have a million and one questions, so why don’t you start talking?” I said to them. “Starting with your names, because I hate to call you green-eyes and black beauty in my mind for all of eternity.” I continued as the female chuckled and put a wide smile on her face and the male just sat himself down on the couch that was in the room.

“I like her, can we keep her?” She asked green-eyes while he squinted his eyes and tried to bore right through my head. I don’t know what his game is, but I don’t have the time, nor the patience to wait for it. “My name is Trixie and this bothered man here is Kallan. We are here to investigate why a Fae had used his magic in the realm of humans. Which seemed to be the same mission you were appointed to.” She started to explain herself.

I was getting cramped up by my clothes but I wasn’t going to wait for them to explain themselves while I did nothing in the meantime. So I loosened the tie, unbuttoned the blouse, took it off and threw it in a corner without any self-restraint of people who saw me half-naked. The skirt was already torn in pieces so I ripped that further apart and threw it towards the earlier disposed blouse. “Fae?” I asked them, wanting for them to elaborate further, while I took a wide t-shirt from my overnight bag and pulled it over my head.

Trixie bit her bottom lip, looking at my long legs which weren’t clothed yet. I took a pair of leather leggings and pulled it over my ass, to cover myself fully. Then I walked over to the love seat that was in the room too and sat myself down. “What? Have you never seen a female dress before?” I snapped at their confused expressions.

“No, it’s not that.” Trixie took a moment to let her eyes roam all over my body, I guess she appreciates what she saw. “It’s that your question took us by surprise.” She said.

“Which one? I’m the one that is confused here, so please tell me more.” I said.

“Well, you have magic, I’m sure that you know what Fae are, right?” She continued.

“You mean fairies?” I replied at which Kallan snorted.

“No, not fairies. Fae.” He finally started speaking.

“Okay hold on, I need to clear the air here for a bit.” I stated and took a few deep breaths. “I am hundred and sixty-three years old, being born and raised on Earth, have scoured this planet a million times over to find some leads as to where I have truly come from, which I haven’t found until recently. Then I came here, to search for any clues as to whatever I had seen on the footage that was shown to me yesterday, and you two suddenly pop up, from god knows where showing me some of your own magic and claiming that I need to be arrested for my transgressions!” I breathed again, unleashing a whole bunch of air.

Their eyes started to widen and their jaws dropped, but I wasn’t done. “So, please, could you enlighten me with whatever it is you know about my roots or where the hell I’m supposed to be from? Because clearly, I know jack shit about Fae.” I said while throwing my hands up in the air.

“Miss?” Neil suddenly interrupted me. “What!” I shouted a little too hard in annoyance, at which I cleared my throat immediately, apologising in some sort of way. “Sorry, but I have to inform you that I believe them to be the same group of men.” He explained.

Kallan stood up from the couch and walked around the desk to see what Neil was mentioning. I stood up as well, trying to figure out why Kallan was suddenly so interested in seeing what Neil had seen. Kallan leaned on the desk, with both hands, while looking at the screen of the laptop as Neil had shoved himself aside.

I was so close to Kallan, as I wanted to see the camera’s footage myself as well, but only then realised how gorgeously good looking he was. Of course, I had seen the short black hair, tousled on his head, and his muscles that almost tore their way through his black shirt, from a distance. But this close I could smell his cologne and see the stubble on his face, both smelling and looking rather ruggedly, just the way I like it.

But I shook my head, he wanted to try to arrest me earlier and the dominance that he was showing now, as Neil had immediately backed away as soon as he came near to him, were annoying me. For now…

“They are human.” Kallan simply stated.

“Yeah, of course they are. Besides werewolves and vampires, only me and the guy I mentioned from the footage I have seen yesterday, are the only supernatural beings I have ever came in contact with.” I stated. “And now you two of course. Well, I have seen Trixie use magic, but not you, so I’m not sure about you yet.” I continued to blurb.

“Trixie, make sure that our men are following them, we still have to apprehend the culprit which we came for in the first place.” Kallan ignored me and commanded her, at which I asked for Neil to give her a burner phone so we could at least contact their men, should we need to. After taking it from me she left the room to do Kallan’s bidding.

“How many of you are here?” I asked him.

“Just two more guards, so the four of us.” He explained and I nodded.

Neil took his place behind the laptop again as Kallan strode his way towards the couch. He sat down and leaned back, sighing softly while looking at me. “So you really don’t know anything about us?” He asked me.

“No, I have been raised and trained by nuns and only recently found out that I’m not from this planet and am an actual fairy – sorry Fae.” I explained.

“Nuns?” He asked me. “Yes, warrior nuns.” I completed and he had to stifle a laugh because of the contradiction of peaceful nuns becoming fearsome fighters.

“So, that’s why you were able to fight me off in that alley. You are fast.” He complimented me. “Thanks, they have trained me well.” I lowered my head in remembrance of missing sister Anselma.

“But who trained you in your magics?” He continued to ask me. “No one, I did that myself. But all I can do is shoot balls of light, heal myself with my core energy and recently I found out that I could make people do what I want-

“What do you mean, you recently found out? You underwent some sort of ritual to obtain your magic, right?” He asked completely confused. I raised a confused face as well but explained to him that at the age of six I had shot the ball of light, gained my agility at the age of ten, extra strength at about sixteen, healing powers at twenty-four and so on. There hadn’t been a single ritual for me to have gone through, for me to obtain anything. Everything I can do right now is stored within me from birth. Besides, there wasn’t anyone that could perform any sort of ritual either as I had just explained to have never met anyone like me, so why is he so confused?

“You’re lying.” He stated. “That’s not possible.” He shook his head in annoyance and disbelief.
