Axel: Chapter 31
Shar and I laugh all the way home to the clubhouse, reliving the fight and the way Shar had jumped on that mans back. I even keep giggling at the response she had from Chaos when she gave him that kiss.
There seems to be a lot of bikes parked in front of the clubhouse I think, but take little notice of the bikes themselves until I notice one has the Rogue Legion MC logo on the tank.
Coming to a stop next to the bike, I look over at Knuckles, who had driven us back and place my hands on my hips, giving him my you’re dead look.
Storming through the door, I quickly take in the fact the Rogue Legion MC brothers are sitting around eating and drinking, Sharp and Crack at the head of the table right next to Axel. Yeah, my man, sitting being friendly with these assholes.
As the door bangs behind me everyone turns and Axel has the audacity to smile at me, I’ll give him a smile and my temper rises once more.
‘What the fuck are these assholes doing here and why are you sitting here fraternizing with them?’ I shout, but everyone can hear the hurt that is in my voice, too.
Everyone stands and tries to speak to me at once, but I point from one to the other of them, ‘Y’all are supposed to be my family, but it’s just another load of bullshit isn’t it, another MC who shit’s all over anyone but themselves.’ I say quieter and hurting far more than I first realized.
Shar takes my hand in hers and squeezes, letting me know I have her support, no matter what.
Axel reaches for me and I step back fast, not wanting him to touch me. I let him see how much hurt is in my eyes before I say, ‘You’re sitting with them, they fucking locked me up, they never tried to find out why I was there or what I needed, as if they didn’t fucking owe me that at least.
‘You’re all as bad as each other, and why I thought being here would be different, I don’t know.’
Buzz dashes forward. ‘Mia, it’s not what you’re thinking. They came to offer help.’
‘Help? They came to offer help? Well, they’re a bit late with that. They should have offered before they locked me in a room like a criminal.’
‘We locked you in that room so we could get Axel to you, so he could be with you, to work things out together.’ Sharp states as he walks towards me.
‘Calm Mia, let’s tell you what’s happening here.’ Axel nods towards me as though that’s going to make me listen.
‘It’s okay, we’ll not bother you anymore. You have your brotherhood. Me and my girl are out of here.’
The room bursts in loud cursing and Shar steps forward alongside me when I hear her squeak and as I turn, I see Hammer has thrown her over his shoulder and is walking away.
I lunge towards him to grab Shar but find my feet leaving the ground and my back is at Axel’s front as he wraps his arms around my torso and carries me out of the common room and to his office.
Once Axel clears the office door, he kicks it shut with his foot, places me in a chair, then squats in front of me. I’m past being reasonable at this moment, cross my arms over my chest and give him the evil eye.
‘Mia, stop and listen. We all agree that what they did to you was uncalled for. They should have asked why you were there and offered you any information they could, although contacting me was the right thing to do too.’
‘How could you sit with them eating and drinking like you’re the best of friends?’ I murmur and I’m struggling not to burst into tears.
‘We were waiting for you to come home from the club. Your meal’s waiting for you and I wanted you here when I went over what they came for and what’s happening next.’
I don’t respond because I could be nasty at this minute, but that’s not who I am. Messing with Brandy is still not sitting well with me, and treating her as I did is just not something I would normally do. My hurt has caused me to mistreat people and I’m not comfortable with that.
Rubbing my hands over my face, I take some deep breaths and try to calm myself. Axel is rubbing my thighs, trying to calm me, I’m sure.
‘Are you ready to listen?’
My eyes snap to Axel’s and I squint them, letting him know I don’t appreciate any of this bullshit.
‘Okay, tell me, then I can get out of here.’ I say, locking my hands together and trying to be reasonable, but I’m not sure it’s going to work at the moment.
Axel stands and sits on the edge of his desk, searching my face for something, but I’m not sure what.
‘Gunner went to see Cara’s uncle, to sort out all the bullshit that he’s causing. Bloom threatened the club, Gunner’s club, that if they didn’t come and grab you for him, then he was going to get Zara one way or another and kill her.
‘They came to try to organize something to take out Bloom. Zara is safe. Gunner has taken her out of the country.
‘Sharp and his club feel pretty bad about what happened to you, Mia. They want to make it up to you by helping keep you safe. I agreed to that as we need the extra men, now we have seven extra which gives us an enormous advantage.’
Shaking my head, I take my hair tie out and run my fingers through to ease the headache that I can feel starting. ‘How can they make up for five years of my life, Axel?’
‘They can’t, but they can help keep you safe from Cara’s uncle. That’s still part of what happened to you back then. All this is because of Cara and her ol’ man Snap. I’m pleased Gunner killed her because if she’d still been alive she wouldn’t have been breathing long.’
Axel leans down and gently takes my forearms and pulls me towards him, wrapping me into his body between his parted legs.
‘You can’t leave me Mia, I love you and I’ll never let you go.’
Looking up my eyes fill with tears because I don’t know if it would kill me to leave him too, ‘I love you too Axel, but I have to trust you and I’m struggling with trust, not just with you, but anyone.’
‘I know babe, but I’m going to find you a counselor, get you to talk about all the shit that happened to you, get it out and put it to bed once and for all.’ Bending his head, Axel takes my mouth gently, softly pulling my bottom lip into his mouth and gently sucking.
Knocking at the door has us looking behind us, but I lean my head on Axel’s chest once I see it’s Drag at the door.
‘Come in, Drag.’ Axel states, but keeps me within his arms, leaning his chin on the top of my head.
Drag closes the door behind him, runs his hands through his hair, then looks at me, ‘Mia, never think we don’t love you here. You’re not just our Pres’s Ol’ Lady, you’re ours as well, you’re the clubs first lady. Sharp and his men came to help us get rid of this situation once and for all. We’ll always stand beside you and we would allow no one to hurt you.’
Turning so my back is to Axel’s front, I give Drag a weak smile, ‘I’m sorry I went off like that, Drag, but when I saw them, it just hit me like they had put a knife into my chest. You all looked so cozy when I walked in that it felt like a betrayal.’
‘I can understand that, but we would never do that to you. Buzz is about ready to rip someone a new asshole, so do you think you could come out and show everyone you’re alright?’
Looking up at Axel, I turn back and nod, then take hold of Axel’s hand and walk behind Drag back into the common room.
We spent the next three hours eating, drinking coffee, and talking about this whole clusterfuck of a situation. Sharp and his men are being polite to me and each of them has apologized for not finding out more at the time and the time I had served.
‘Mia, we’re going out tonight to take out Bloom and his gang. You need to stay here safe with Shar. I’m leaving three of the prospects with you, Jig, Fizz, and Brad. You’re well acquainted with them. They’ll keep you safe.
‘We’ll be going in about fifteen minutes. Once they’re taken care of, we’ll be back. I need you to stay safe, so I don’t worry. I don’t want to be distracted, okay?’
Nodding, I reach up and guide Axel’s head down, taking his lips and kisses him thoroughly, ‘I’ll wait here and you all stay safe.’
‘Will do babe.’ Axel kisses my nose and I head upstairs to our room and leave him to do whatever they need to do to clear this mess up once and for all.
