Raging Barons MC – Book Three – Silver

Raging Barons – Silver: Chapter 16

-:- SILVER -:-

My neck hurts and why the fuck am I sitting up to sleep? Rubbing my hand down my neck, I realize I’m sitting next to Eden’s hospital bed and still holding her hand. Looking up, I see she’s awake and watching me quietly.

Standing quickly, I press the buzzer next to the bed to let the nurse know that Eden is awake, but I lean down and move the piece of hair that has dropped over her face.

“How do you feel?” I ask her quietly.

“Hurt, everywhere,” she’s still staring at me. “What happened?”

“Someone attacked you in the parking lot of the club. We don’t know who it is, but it’s the same man who was loitering the other day. You remember when you rushed inside?”

“Oh, but I don’t know who that is, or why he was interested in who I am.”

“I don’t think he’s interested in you, Eden; I think he wanted to hurt you and he did hurt you.” I tell her.

The nurse bustles in, smiling, “Hi Eden. I’m Jillian, your nurse for the day. How are you feeling?”

I sit back and listen to them both, how the nurse checks Eden over and I quietly make my way out of the room and text Axel to let him know Eden is awake.

The nurse walks out of the room and informs me the doctor will be around shortly, so I quickly head back into the room and sit with Eden and wait.

“Do you have my purse?” Eden asks.

“Yeah, but he stole whatever money you had in it. That seems to be all he took.” I tell her, and I notice the tears in her eyes welling, but she doesn’t allow them to fall.

“Okay.” Is all she says before closing her eyes and dropping back to sleep.

The doctor walks in, and I fill him in on the fact Eden seems lucid. She remembers being attacked, but doesn’t know why. He reads her chart and then squeezes my shoulder. “She’ll be okay son, she just needs a little rest time. I’ll be back in a couple of hours to check again.” With that, he walks out.

Taking out my cellphone again, I send a text message to Target.

Me: Have you found anything?

Target: Nothing yet, but Meat disappeared, so he may have something.

Me: Where is he then?

Target: No idea. He’ll not surface until he’s ready and until he’s satisfied that he has all the information he needs to report back to Axel.

Me: Give me his number and I’ll text him.

Target sends me Meat’s number and I send off a quick text asking where he is and that I’m up for breaking someone’s legs if need be.

Leaning back in my chair, I watch Eden sleeping. Her breathing is easy and her cheeks have a little color back now. Her eye is going to take a while and the bruise on the side of her face. The more I look at her, the more my anger grows and when we catch this fucker, I’m gonna make him wish he wasn’t born.

Axel sends a text response asking me to keep him informed and he’ll be here in about an hour with Mia and a pile of things she’s bringing for Eden.

The shock of someone beating Eden in the parking lot of the club has left me feeling sick. I’m going to get her some things, as she’ll not have anything with her. None of us know where she lives. I’ll ask Specs to check the club records for an address.

Walking into Specs’ office, I give him my best winning smile and his eyebrows lift nearly to his hairline. I would love to laugh out loud, but I think that would take the seriousness of this situation away.

“Specs, can you check the records for Eden’s home address please, so I can collect clothes and things for her? She has nothing at the hospital, so she’ll need things taken in.”

“Of course, hang on a minute,” Watching Specs screen. It flashes from one thing to another and then he stops, writes an address on his pad and rips it off, handing it to me. “There you go.”

“Thank you.” I smile and quickly leave the office to give Shar a call to go with me. She better have staff covering the coffee house this morning.

Pulling up in front of the address Specs gave me, I look at Shar. “It’s not what I expected. I thought it would be in better condition, she doesn’t look like a person who would leave the garden like a pig stye and the house looks like it needs cleaners going in.” I’m shocked, but it’s not up to us to look down on anyone.

Shar jumps out of the vehicle. “Come on Mia, let’s knock and hope someone is here. I don’t know if she lives alone, but if not, then we can’t get in without getting Fizz to pick the lock.” She laughs at that because Fizz the prospect just pulled up and doesn’t know he could be a cat burglar in a minute.

We knock hard on the front door and wait a minute or two. When no one answers, Shar hammers on the door and shouts, “Answer the damn door.” That’s when we hear someone moving around.

The door is flung open and a scruffy bitch stands in front of us in her pajamas, “What the fuck do you want?”

“We’ve come for Eden’s things. She’s in the hospital and needs some of her clothes.” Shar snaps.

“She doesn’t live here anymore and nothing here belongs to her.”

Before we can say anything more, she slams the door and we hear her stomping up the stairs. I look at Shar and she looks at me, shrugging her shoulders.

Back in the vehicle, I look over at Shar. “What now?”

Shar rubs her hands down her thighs, then looks at me. “I think she was homeless, Mia, and before you say anything else, let me tell you. It’s just a feeling I had and I let her use the shower at my apartment and she nearly cried. She had that look… the one we had when someone did something for us, when we had nothing and nobody.”

“Oh my god, no, please no, we’ve got to help her.” I say because I never want to see that look again on anyone, to be totally alone and at rock bottom is the worst feeling.

Shar taps her leg with the tips of her fingers, then turns to me. “Let’s go to the club. Her vehicle will still be parked there. We’ll know if she’s homeless because all her stuff will be packed in it if she is. It’s what we would do, isn’t it? Keep all our stuff with us and sleep in the vehicle.”

As we’re driving to the club, I ask Shar, “How are we going to get into the vehicle to get her stuff? We don’t have her keys.”

Shar laughs. “Have you seen the hunk of shit she drives? Obviously not, because girl, a good pull on one of those doors and it’ll probably just drop off the damn hinges, or Fizz can break in.”

I giggle. “You’re determined Fizz is going to break into something today.”

Arriving at the club, we check out the vehicle and it’s a junker for sure. Fizz has to break in, but it didn’t seem difficult at all and we see everything Eden probably owns packed neatly into this piece of crap. We get pj’s, toiletries and a set of clothes she can wear when she leaves the hospital.

I look at Fizz. “Can you lock this back up?”

Fizz laughs. “Mia, the vehicle is fucked. Why don’t we drive it over to the clubhouse and leave it in the compound because Eden won’t be driving it for a little while? I can get it started if we do that.”

After calling Axel, he agrees that’s what we need to do, so Shar drives it behind me back to the compound where we park it on one side for when it’s needed.

Entering the clubhouse, Axel walks over to me, wrapping me in his arms as always when he first sees me. “Everything okay?” he asks and I feel like crying.

“She’s living in her fucking piece of shit car, Axel. We went to the address that is on her club records and this woman answered saying she didn’t live there anymore, then slammed the door in our faces.” I tell him and I can see that has pissed him off as much as it did me.

“Well, she can’t live in her car when she leaves the hospital. Do you want us to give her a room here until she gets on her feet?” Axel asks me and that is why I love him so much; he is such a good man and cares deeply about women.

“Yeah, let’s give her a room here until she is okay again.” Giving him a broad smile and a quick kiss.

Shar grumbles about us being sickening, always slobbering over each other and why can’t we act like ordinary people that have been together a while, you know boring, which has me giggling, then full on laughing.

Entering the kitchen behind Shar, I come to a full stop. It’s empty, no coffee pot on, no food cooking, no Meat!

“Where’s Meat?” I shout out and Axel places his arm over my shoulder, murmuring, “He’s hunting.”

Looking over my shoulder, I frown and ask, “Hunting what?” Which has Axel grinning broadly. “Not what Mia, who?”

“Who?” Shar asks, then smirks, “Oh, who.”

I’m looking from one to the other trying to work out what the fuck they are both talking about, when suddenly it hits me, who…the one who hurt Eden, of course.

Grinning, I look at Shar, she looks at me and we high-five each other, laugh and then rush out to the vehicle to get what Eden will need. We decide I’ll go to the hospital with Axel to take things and Shar will stay here and put a meal on for later.

We don’t care how long it will take Meat to come back as long as he either takes out the fucker or brings him back so someone can.
