Chapter 8
Helen looked at me. “Are you serious?” she asked. “You couldn’t have waited until she was awake?”
“No,” I said. “I wanted to, but I couldn’t help myself. I just had to do it.”
“Are you going to tell her?”
“Yes.”
“Well, good. She should know. What did she say when you asked if she wanted to go get some of her clothes?”
“Said she was fine and went to sleep.”
“There is something odd going on.”
“True. I wasn’t supposed to be there, I wasn’t supposed to save her.”
“What do you mean?”
“Not long before, well, yesterday, Jackson told me that I wouldn’t get a premonition to go to that hotel and save her. He said that there was someone important to me in that hotel, but that I wouldn’t be able to save them.”
“Weird. Then how did you do it?”
“You helped. You got me there.”
“Still weird. That would be something you’d normally see.”
“I know. Especially considering who was in there.”
“Yeah. You need to talk to him.”
“Yes, I do.”
I yawned.
“Go to bed. I’ll come by and check on you in the morning.”
“Thanks Helen.”
“You’re welcome.”
When she left, I made sure that the door was locked and crawled into bed with Kendra. I would sleep better knowing that I was waking up beside her.
Hopefully it would be a dreamless sleep.
