Psychic Enchantress

Chapter 43. Death and Disappearance

Mason’s POV

Its been three months since Davilla took over Xayla’s body. We’ve been looking everywhere but no sign of her.

Its been three months since Davilla took over Xayla’s body and three months since the last time I had Xayla in my arms.

The past few months have been nothing but unbearable for me. Xayla became the reason that i’m so eager to get up in the mornings.

Now, well, now Davilla is walking around in her tiny body, murdering people.

Yes, murdering people.

Xayla’s grandmother told us that, thats what Davilla does. Its like she gets some sort of energy from killing an innocent soul. Its bull crap to me. I know I’ve been in a dark place before, beat some guys up and all but I would never kill a soul. I don’t have the heart for that.

Xayla’s grandmother said that she’ll be working with Kalina to find Davilla’s location. I don’t know what difference its going to make because they’ve been doing that for the past month. Kalina said though that it would be much better to track her location when she’s asleep.

I really hope they find her because time is running out and if we don’t find her by this weekend, Xayla will be gone forever.

“Hey when is Xayla coming back to school?” Jake questioned. Shira was sitting next to him, clinging to his arm. She transferred schools when I told her about the Davilla situation. She said that it was her plan to move here even before she heard about Davilla. She just wanted to surprise Xayla.

“Ummm..” Shira trailed off trying to come up with a lie. We had told the gang that she had to go back to Florida for a family funeral. Yeah, that’s the best lie we could come up with.

I rolled my eyes at Shira. “Hopefully by next week.” I answered Jake, when I realize Shira didn’t have the guts to lie to her boyfriend.

Jake nodded his head in response. We were outside waiting on Chloe and Theo to get out the school so we could grab some coffee at the shop but they were taking forever and I was getting very uncomfortable with Jake and Shira alone.

“Thank you God.” I muttered to myself when I saw Cynthia and Evan walking out the school’s exit with Chloe and Theo following behind them.

“What were you two doing, fucking in the janitor’s closet?” I grumbled.

“Don’t be rude Mason but if it will make you feel any better, yes, we were doing it in the janitor’s closet.” Cynthia told me sternly but then chuckled after.

“That’s disgusting. Do you have any idea how many ger-why am I even talking to you!” I shouted, annoyed.

Cynthia rolled her eyes at me.

“Let’s go-wait is that..” Chloe looked shocked at whatever she was staring at behind us.

The gang turned around and their faces soon had a shocked look. I had an idea at what they were looking at or who they were looking at but I was too nervous to even look.

I slowly turned around to see Xayla, well Davilla standing at the end of the parking lot smirking at us. Xayla’s appearance now seemed to be going away. Now she had a much paler skin and she had streaks of purple hair against her dark brown. Also, her eyes, well her eyes were jet black now. I could see it from right where I stand.

“It looks like Xayla but its not her. Who is it?” Evan questioned.

“I don’t know.” I lied.

Davilla walked over to where I stood and I felt my hands sweating and my heart rate increase. Its like I wanted to rip Davilla’s head off but then I would ripping Xayla’s head as well.

She just stood there gazing up at me. She looked haunted.

“Do you guys know each other Mason?” Chloe asked.

“Yes, do we know each other Mason?” Davilla grinned a wicked grin.

“You’re not getting away with what you did.” I threatened her. Low enough so that she alone could hear me.

She smirked at me then looked to my left where Jake stood.

“Hey there.” Davilla flirted.

I saw Shira’s body stiffen and I knew she was having a hard time believing it was Davilla that was standing right in front of us and not Xayla.

“Do I know you?” Jake asked with a disgusted expression. Jake can be very disrespectful when it comes to someone see.ing like a threat to his friends.

Davilla seemed insulted by that. “I know you know a friend of mine.”

“Who are you talking about?” Cynthia inquired stepping a bit closer. Evan stepped with her with a protective stance.

Davilla looked at her and smiled. “Xayla.”

“Where is she?” Chloe whispered timidly.

Davilla looked at us, a grin slowly spreading across her face. “She’s dead.”

With that said, I grabbed Davilla’s hands and twisted it behind her.

“Yes, I like it rough.” She laughed.

“Xayla’s not dead. You’re lying.” I growled at her.

“We both know I’m not Mason." She said my name with disgust and that made ny anger boil even more. I twisted her hand even more and she made a sound as if she were in pain.

She turned her head and gazed into my hands. I immediately let her hands go free but it wasn’t voluntarily. Its like she used her telekinetic energy to remove them.

Davilla turned to face me and pushed me backwards, making me hit a nearby car.

“Now you got me angry!” She growled.

She turned her head swiftly to Shira and pushed her away making her drop to the ground. She did the same with everyone else except Jake. Shira got up and started to run to where Davilla was. I didn’t even realize how far Davilla had pushed her.

“I like you so you’re coming with me.” She smirked at Jake.

“That’s never going to happen, I have a girlfriend.” Jake announced quite confident.

Shira grabbed unto Jake’s arm but Davilla grabbed hers as well and pulled her towards her. She put both hands on her head. One on top and one below her chin.

“What are you doing!” Jake bellowed.

I heard a snapping sound then I saw a lifeless Shira fall to the ground. “No!” I screamed. I tried to get up but I was clumsy. The hit I got on my head made me very dizzy.

“Now we can be together.” Davilla grinned at Jake who was now at Shira’s side, crying. Like a girl, I might had. Okay don’t get me wrong, if I was in his position, I would be crying like a girl too.

Jake got up and hit her in her face forgetting the rule that a man should never hit a woman. Davilla deserved it though. She’s a murderer but I couldn’t help but realizing he was hitting my girlfriend and not Davilla herself.

Davilla fell to the ground holding her face with a shocked expression plastered across her face. She turned to Jake with a wicked look.

“Don’t Davilla. Leave him alone.” I growled at her. I managed to get up but my walk was clumsy. I insisted though on walking towards her before she killed another friend of mine.

Yes I admit it, they’re my friends and I’ll do whatever it is to protect them. Except Theo. I still don’t like him.

Davilla got up and grabbed hold of Jake’s hand then disappeared with him in thin air.

I looked around the abandoned car park but I saw no sign of them.

I heard a noise to my left and I saw Chloe trying to get up. Cynthia hit her head on the light lost which caused her to pass out while Evan and Theo were against the school’s exit door passed out as well.

“What hap-Shira!” She screamed, running over to Shira’s lifeless body.

“What happened!” She screamed at me.

This is all my fault. I should’ve been able to stop Davilla but I was so....

Shit.

Now Shira’s dead and Jake’s been abducted.

I withdrew my phone and dialed Kalina’s number and told her what happened.

Kalina and her grandmother have been going to every crime scene that related to Davilla to erase any witness’s mind and plant a coverup as to how the person died. With that, eliminating every evidence that led to Davilla. Or should I say Xayla.

“What happened Mason!” Chloe screamed at me making me cringe.

I shook my head unable to answer that question.

You really don’t want to know, Chloe.
