Psychic Enchantress

Chapter 38. Forgive Me

“I’m so stupid!” I shreaked.

“No i’m the one who is. I’m sorry I kissed you. I shouldn’t have.“Jake apologized stuffing tissue up his nose to clog the bleeding.

“But I kissed you back!” I shouted. “Don’t you get that?”

“So you like me then.” He stated looking hopeful.

“I like Mason more. I’m his girlfriend now Jake. Please get that. You can’t come barging in here proclaiming your liking when you know i’m with someone. That someone who happens to be your best friend.” I screamed.

“I don’t think he’s my best friend anymore. I broke the code.” He said sadly. Mason and Jake have been since kindergarten and i’m the one who broke them up.

“Make this right with him Jake.” I told him.

“There’s no use. Once the code has been broken, the friendship is too.” He stated, looking down at the floor.

“You could at least try.” I scolded.

“Okay. How are you gonna fix things between you two?” He questioned looking up at me.

“I don’t know.” I sighed.

“I don’t think we should be friends anymore.” Jake stated, walking towards the door.

“Jake.” I called. He stopped and looked at me with pain in his eyes. I gazed into them and took a small amount of that pain. Enough to make him feel as if he can go on being friends with me. I can’t lose him.

He closed his eyes and shook his head before looking back at me.

“Okay that’s a little rash. We can be friends but I don’t think Mason is going to be okay with it ” he smiled nervously.

“I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” I waved goodbye.

He gave a small smile and head out the door of my bedroom.

So much has happened in just one day, I don’t even know how i’m still standing. I went in the bathroom and splashed some water on my face to see if it will aid in refreshing me. I looked at my reflection and I couldn’t even recognize myself. I looked washed out, pale and despondent. An hour ago I was smiling with color in my cheeks and now, well, the little color I had in them were gone.

I walked downstairs to find Kalina sitting at the island in the kitchen drinking a glass of water. The look she was giving me clearly stated that she heard everything that happened in my bedroom between me and the guys.

“I don’t need to ask if you heard or anything right?” I asked.

She shook her head in response.

I walked over to where she was and sat in the stool beside her. She grabbed a bottle of water and gave it to me.

“I really need a sister right now.” I murmured.

She turned to face me and held out her arms offering a hug. I looked at her and I felt the tears coming. The pain I felt from breaking Mason’s heart and the pain I absorbed from Jake all in one.

I hugged her and wept in the crook of her neck. She rubbed my back in the attempt to comfort me.

“It’ll be okay.” She whispered.

I cried harder in response to that because I highly doubt it ever will be. What made it even worse, is that I had use my telekinesis and slammed Mason against the wall. I didn’t even know I could.

“You wanna talk about it?” She asked.

I sniffed and let go of her hold.

“Jake kissed me and I kissed him back.” I sniffed.

“Oh so you like him then?” She ask confused.

“I was gonna tell you earlier but I guess I should now. Mason and I are together now.” I looked at her with sad eyes.

“That’s good isn’t it. I like Mason.” She smiled.

“Yeah but Jake is his best friend and he likes me also. I like him too but I like Mason waaay more.” I explained. “Jake kissed me and I kiss him back. Mason saw us and he beat up Jake.”

“Oh so that’s why Mason stormed out looking pissed and Jake left with bloody tissues stuffed up his nose.” She said coming to a realization.

I nodded in response. “The worse part is, is that I used telekinesis and slammed Mason against the wall to break them up. So to him, its like I was defending Jake when really I wasn’t defending anyone. I was just trying to stop the fight.”

“Okay so using your telekinesis on Mason, not good.” She sighed. “The only solution to this problem is talk to him.”

“He doesn’t want to talk to me. You should’ve seen the way he looked at me.” I cried.

“You really like him don’t you?” She questioned.

I nodded.

“Then go and talk to him.” She poked my arm.

I went upstairs to seek my phone. Took me some time to find it but I eventually did.

I dialed his number and I waited. It wrung and wrung. Yet no answer. I tried again but still no answer.

I took a quick shower and put on my navy blue sweatpants and tank top. By the time I was finished it was 7:30pm. I slipped on my minion bed slippers and sat by my computer. Shira appeared to be online on Skype so I called her.

“Oh wow you do remember me.” She said sarcastically.

“Hi Shira.” I sighed.

“What happened?” She commanded, her face now looking concerned.

“Mason....Jake.” I could feel the tears begging to return.

“Details.” She ordered.

“Jake came by earlier and told me that he still liked me and I sorta like him too but Mason and I are together now and I like him more than Jake. Jake kissed me and I kissed back and Mason caught us.” I hurriedly reply in one breath.

“Okay what the fudoodle. Hold on a minute, how am I just knowing that you and Mason are together?” She demanded looking pissed.

“Well because we became official like three hours ago.” I stated looking at her blankly.

“Oh.” She muttered. “If you like Mason more than Jake. Leave Jake out of it and focus on Mason. He’s your boyfriend now.”

“I don’t think he is anymore.” I sighed. “You should’ve seen his face Shira!”

“Talk to him Xayla. Apologize.” She said simply.

“He won’t answer my calls.” I whined.

“Who are you and where is my best friend?” She asked, furrowing her perfectly shaped eyebrows.

“I’m here.” I muttered.

“This is not you Xayla. You don’t sit down and whine about your problems. You face them head on and fix them. Get up off your butt and go talk to him. If he doesn’t want to talk, the hell with it. I’m sure his ears work perfectly fine.” She scolded.

“You’re right.” I sighed, smiling a little.

“Am always right Xayla. Now go.” She grinned. “Go get your man.”

I giggled a bit and signed out.

I picked my phone and car keys up and rushed downstairs.

“I hope everything goes well.” Kalina said frightening me. I didn’t even see her sitting on the couch.

“Geez you scared the crap out of me.” I squealed, holding my chest. “Yeah me too.”

I went out and locked the door behind me. When I got in my car, I thought about going back inside and just talk to him tomorrow at school but I doubt I would even have the chance. I turned the key and the car roared to life.

During the journey to Mason’s house I thought about what I had to say. I was going to apologize for what I had done and, well, I don’t know what else to say. I really don’t want to lose him. He means so much to me. And even though I have no idea what my feelings are exactly, I just know I can’t be away from him. He’s been there for me through so much. He cares for me, protects me, and he’s just always there. Even when we weren’t friends. He would sit at our table in the cafeteria and look at me when i’m speaking about something that’s bothering me. He didn’t say anything but he just listened all the same. He’s always there for me and I can’t lose him.

I sat there in my car outside his house trying to mutter up the courage to go in.

Xayla why are you like this. You’ve never been this nervous before. You’re a badass chica. Now get your butt up and go.

I took a deep breath and got out my car. With each step I take, I felt my heart beating even faster.

“You can do this. He doesn’t hate you. You’re overreacting.” I mutter to myself.

Knock knock. I knocked on the door twice. I heard someone approaching so I turned my back to the door and took another deep breath in.

“Xayla?” A voice called.

I turned around to see Mason’s adoptive mother standing with a worried look.

“Oh hi Rebecca.” I smiled a nervous smile.

“Come in, you must be cold.” She said looking at my attire. I didn’t even realize I was still in my night clothes. My sweatpants, tank top and minion bed slippers. Jeez Xay, you could’ve at least put on a sweater.

I stepped in the house and she locked the door.

“You’re here to see Mason aren’t you?” She smiled a sad smile.

“Yes.” I sighed. “Is he here?”

“Yes he’s upstairs.” She replied. “I haven’t seen him so, so upset before.”

I looked at away, thinking about going back home.

“Does it have to do with you?” She inquired, curiously.

“I’m afraid it does.” I sighed, looking up at her. ”

She smiled at me with sad eyes.

“He’s upstairs.” She told me.

I nodded and head to the stairs.

“Xayla?” She called.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face her.

“Please sort things out between you too. I really don’t like seeing him like this. He does impulsive things when he’s upset.” She begged.

I gave her a small nod before heading up to Mason’s room.

I stood there with my hand mid air in a fist, contemplating whether or not I should just leave.

Yup, i’m leaving. I was about to turn away when the door opened revealing a very distraught Mason.

He and I stood there facing eachother. He had the same pain in his eyes and he wasn’t that upset as before.

He stepped back and closed the door leaving me on the opposite end.

I felt my heart broke when he did that. He could’ve at least hear me out. Now am just simply pissed. I tried opening the door but it was locked. I raised my palm over it and used my telekinetic energy to open it. It swung open and I saw Mason sitting on the bed with his face in his hands.

He shot up when the door opened and looked at me with a surprised expression that quickly turned into anger.

"Leave" He ordered.

“No. Not until you listen to what I have to say.” I said quietly.

I closed the door behind me to shut out some of the noise from Rebecca.

“You can be with Jake, Xayla. I won’t hold you back.” He hissed.

“I don’t want to be with Jake. If I did, I wouldn’t be here right now.” I snapped back.

“Well, I don’t want to be with you.” He said with so much venom I almost believed him. He turned his back to me to avoid looking into my eyes.

"Bullshit." I hissed.

He looked at me with a pained expression in his eyes.

“Why did you kiss him?” He asked.

“He kissed me...” I answered simply.

“You kissed him back.” He stated, blatantly.

“I can’t say that I didn’t.” I admitted.

“You like him.” He stated once more.

“I do.” I confessed. “But I like you more and I wanna be with you, not him.”

“Oh so you had to kiss him to figure that out.” He laughed mockingly.

“I’m sorry Mason. ” I said, ordering the tears to stay away.

“I trusted you Xayla and you went ahead and kissed my best friend!” He boomed.

"I’m sorryI cried.

“Sorry doesn’t always make things better.” He replied, turning his back to me.

I walked to where he was and I wrapped my arm around him. He tried to remove my hands but I held him tight.

“Xayla stop.” He whispered.

“Please forgive me. You should know I am not a cheater. It just happened and I immediately felt guilty about it. I was even going to tell you about it if you not had show up and saw it for yourself.” I pleaded.

He didn’t say anything. He just stood there with his hands on mine. While I just stood there with my arms around him.

“Forgive me ” I pleaded.

No answer.

“Come with me” I said letting go of him.

He turned to look at me questionably.

“Please.” I pleaded.

He didn’t say anything, he just picked up his jacket and looked at me expectantly.

I walked out the door with Mason following behind me.

I felt the need to tell him everything and I mean everything. I’ve been wanting to for a while so I guess I needed a push and this was it.
