Chapter 46: Bonus Chapter Pt. 2
Ryan: “What?!”
Amara: “I lost four pounds in the last two weeks. I don't think it's normal.”
Ryan: “Let's go to the doctor right now.”
Amara: “I don't think she can help.”
Ryan: “She can tell us what's wrong. She'll write some supplements or medicine.”
Amara: “Medicine doesn't work on my body. I already know the reason why it's happening. My appetite has dwindled drastically. I don't feel like eating, I mean I don't enjoy food as much as I used to.”
Ryan: “You don’t like Haily’s food? It's okay, I'll cook for you. You know I'm a great chef but if you don't want that either then I can hire the best chef in the world.”
Amara: “Uhm…”
Ryan: “Give me a few minutes.”
Amara: “Diav…”
In Amara’s head: And he's gone. (in the living room). Why did he ask me to come here?
Ryan: “Love, meet Pavlo. This man can cook any dish you want.”
In Aria’s head: Did he just kidnap him?
Luca: “Ooh, can I get a selfie? I'm your biggest fan.”
Melora: “He means to say he's a big fan of your food, your restaurants.”
Aria: “Pavlo looks like he's having a heart attack.”
Luca: “He's naked. Where did you snatch him from?”
Ryan: “Luca, shut up and lend this man your clothes, I think he's your size. He'll live with us.”
Pavlo: “I'm sorry but what's going on?! One moment I was in my bathroom and the next I'm here. And I haven't smoked anything in ages so…”
Ryan: “Oh, where are my manners? I'm Ryan Diavolo Accardi.”
Pavlo: “Aren't you guys the most ruthless crime group?”
Luca: “Ruthless? Look at us, do we look ruthless to you?”
Pavlo: “I need to leave. My wife is pregnant.”
Luca: “You're divorced and you don't even have a girlfriend.”
Ryan; “Listen, we won't harm you, you just need to cook for her. She's my wife and as you can see she's pregnant but she doesn't feel like eating. So if you wanna live to see another day I'd suggest you make her something to eat that she likes I'll pay you well, don't worry. What do you want to eat, love?”
In Pavlo’s head: Yes, please tell me because I'd like to live.
In Amara’s head: Damn.
Amara: “Make your best dish, Pavlo.”
Pavlo: “As you wish, ma'am.”
Ryan: “Luca, take me to the kitchen and help him.”
Luca: “Me? Ask Walter, he knows about spices and shit.”
Walter: “He's lying.”
Ryan: “Both of you take him to the kitchen.”
Both: “Yes boss.”
Walter: “I'll fucking kill you. (two hours later in the dining room)”
Amara: “How will I eat if you guys keep looking at me like that? (later Erole’s cabin)”
In Ryan’s head: She didn't eat and then I found her sitting in her garden. I thought it would be a good idea to just let her be.
Ercole: “I feel like we're ignoring the elephant in the room.”
Ryan: “What do you mean?”
Ercole: “We're ignoring the fact that you're a hybrid. Then why are we not discussing the fact that she's likely carrying hybrid babies? We're being ignorant and we are risking Amara's life. she isn't a vampire like your mother. (Ryan’s living room)”
Luca: “Amara, are you okay?”
Amara: “Yeah.”
Luca: “Then why are you looking at me like that?”
In Amara’s head: I don't know why I'm looking at him like that. Those veins on his neck, making me feel some type of way that I can't explain. I've officially lost my mind at this point.
Luca: “You're scaring me. Are you…”
Amara: “NO!! Don't come near me.”
In Luca’s head: The fuck just happened?! (Ercole’s cabin)
Ercole: “All I'm saying is maybe she isn't eating food because it's not tempting her enough. Maybe she's craving something else.”
Ryan: “Are you insinuating that she's craving blood?!”
Ercole: “When your mother was pregnant with a hybrid baby, she could barely control her blood lust at the time. Even though she was a vampire all her life she craved blood like a newborn vampire. It almost got out of hand to the point where the Accardi mansion used to be full of blood bags all the time.”
Ryan: “If she wants blood then why didn't she tell me?”
Ercole: “Because she doesn't know. We're talking about a creature who has never thought about blood like that. It's all so new to her, that's why you need to tell her.”
Ryan: “You want me to ask her to drink blood? Do you not realize how absurd that sounds?”
Ercole: “The babies are hurting her, can't you see that?”
In Ryan’s head: How can I not see what she's going through everyday? She keeps the mate bond blocked all the time so I don't feel her pain, her thoughts.
Ryan: “Of course I can see it, I feel it everyday but you don't understand, I can't ask this of her. She's already given enough, she's going through a lot. I can't ask her.”
Aria: “Let me ask her. I'll talk to her.”
Ryan: “No, I can't stand in the corner like a coward while you convince her to drink blood. I'll talk to her. (Ryan’s living room)”
In Luca’s head: Where is he?!
Luca: “Where were you? I tried to mindlink you and call you but you weren't answering.”
Ryan: “What's wrong?”
Luca: “Something happened while you were gone and Amara has locked herself in her room.”
Ryan: “What? Is she okay?”
Luca: “No, she isn’t. I saw something. I saw a blood lust in her eyes. She was looking at me like a vampire looks at her prey.”
Ryan: “Don't fuck with me Luca, it's not funny.”
Luca: “I swear on my ancestors, I'm telling you the truth.”
Ryan: “Love, it’s me. Will you open the door for me? You okay?”
Amara: “I don't think so. Where were you?”
Ryan: “I was at Ercole’s cabin. I need to tell you something.”
Amara: “I know.”
Ryan: “You know?”
Amara: “Yeah, I've been feeling like this for the past few weeks. I thought I was losing my mind at first. Maybe I developed a taste for new food, that's why I couldn't bring myself to eat. But today it all became clear when I saw Luca’s neck, those pulsating veins.”
Ryan: “I'm sorry love, I should've told you sooner. It's my fault.”
Amara: “It's not your fault.”
Ryan: “If I were just a werewolf, you didn't have to go through all of this.”
Amara: “I never apologize for who I am and I don't want you to apologize for what you are either. I love all of you, every part and I love them too. I don't care what I need to do to keep them safe and fed. I would do anything for them.”
Ryan: “You're my world, all three of you. (the next morning in the kitchen)”
Luca: “So are we just gonna hand her a blood bag?”
Ryan: “Luca, shut up.”
Luca: “What? It's a genuine question.”
Ryan: “Would you drink it like that?”
Luca: “Fuck no.”
Ryan: “Exactly. (a few weeks later in the garden). You know, little sprouts are probably the size of a watermelon now. I wonder what they're dreaming about.”
Amara: “Maybe about who gets to inherit the scar. Who would become alpha. Or maybe planning their escape route for when they have to start wearing actual pants.”
Ryan: “Speaking of escapes, have you started giving any thought to the big day? You know, how are we welcoming these bundle of sunshines into the world?”
Amara: “I've been thinking about it. So many choices.”
Ryan: “Exactly. Which is why I thought we could brain storm today. Hospital delivery, all decked out and sterile? Birthing center like that adorable one near our hotel? Maybe a home birth with just us and a midwife? I want you to be as comfortable and empowered as possible during this whole thing. What feels right for you.”
Amara: “Part of me…well, a big part of me craves a familiarity of the hospital. It's safe, there's immediate medical help if anything goes wrong.”
Ryan: “Understandable and it's our hospital, remember?”
Amara: “Exactly but then there's another part of me, the part that longs for something more natural, more intimate. The idea of welcoming our babies in our own home, surrounded by just the things that bring us peace.”
Ryan: “With a midwife, someone who specializes in natural births and who could answer all those crazy questions that pop into your head at 3:00 a.m.”
Amara: “You know me so well.”
Ryan: “Whatever you choose, I'll be right there with you. Holding your hand and cheering you on. The decision is yours.”
Amara: “I know, it's just scary but having you here, supporting me and reminding me. It makes the whole thing feel a little less scary. can we trust the midwives?”
Ryan: “We can.”
Amara: “Promise me, if something goes wrong, you won't leave the twins alone.”
Ryan: “Nothing will go wrong.”
Amara: “We never know. Promise me, Diavolo. If something happens to me you'll take care of the twins and Drako.”
Ryan: “Nothing will happen, I promise. If the angel of death comes near you, you're gonna beat his ass and make him run for his life.”
Amara: “Just promise me it'll put my heart at ease.”
Azrael: “Just tell her.”
Amara: “What is it?”
Ryan: “We’re mates, love and sometimes mate bonds reach a point where the souls become one. So when one dies, the other one dies as well.”
Amara: “And you think our bond has reached that point?”
Ryan: “For me, yes. If something happens to you nothing can stop me from going with you.”
Amara: “Not even our children?”
In Amara’s head: And he just shook his head. As if he just didn't tell me the most dreadful truth. What will happen to our children after us? They won't live the same life we lived as orphans. No, no, no, no. I can't let that happen. Dying isn't the option. We both will be present in our children's lives. (Ryan’s room the next day)
Aria: “How are you feeling, mama?”
Amara: “Miserable.”
Aria: “Just a few days now.”
Amara: “Oh. Oohhh!!!”
Melora: “What's with the ohing? Are they coming?”
Melora’s Mindlink: “What's wrong with her?”
Aria’s Mindlink: “I have no idea.”
Amara: “No. But someone else is.”
Melora: “Who?”
In Amara’s head: You'll find out soon. (a few days later in the living room)
Ryan: “Um, love, I don't wanna laugh, just so you know. Don't take it the wrong way but did you just pee yourself? I mean it's completely natural.”
Amara: “No. It's water. My water just broke!! (at the hospital)”
Pamela: “You're already at six centimeters dilated. You didn't feel the contractions?”
Amara: “I used to have painful periods and I was in pain for the last few months. So now, I don't feel anything new.”
Pamela: “They'll be in your arms in no time. We'll wait until you're fully dilated.”
Amara: “Mhm. (in the hallway)”
Luca: “Walter is taking care of the kids. Is everything okay?”
Aria: “It's only been three hours, you know it takes time.”
Luca: “I just hope they're fine.”
Aria: “Me too.”
Pamela: “Okay, almost there. I can feel the head right against the cervix. Just one more big push and your little one will be here.”
In Amara’s head: I let out a guttural cry, my muscles bunching and straining. Ryan stands at my head, his hand gripping mine like a vice.
Ryan: “That’s it, love. You're doing amazing, you can do this. Remember what we practiced, slow and steady, like a wave coming ashore.”
In Amara’s head: I grit my teeth, focusing on the rhythm of my breath and the burning fire in my core. Another push, longer this time, a primal or escaping my lips.
Pamela: “There you go, the head is out. one more final push.”
In Amara’s head: Ryan leaned down, his forehead pressed against mine, whispering encouraging words in my ear
Ryan: “You're almost there, love, almost there.”
In Amara’s head: I dig deep, summoning every ounce of strength. A final push then...a sudden release. A squalling cry fills the room, slicing through the tension like a burst of sunshine.
Pamela: “It's a boy. You did it. You have a beautiful baby boy.”
In Amara’s head: Pamela lifted the newborn, a tiny wrinkled miracle, his hair dark like ink against his flushed cheeks. A sob escapes my lips as I gaze at my son, a wave of relief washing over me. Ryan leans down, his touch feather light, tracing the curve of our sons perfect cheek.
Amara: “Hello, my love. Welcome to the world.”
In Amara’s head: But the celebration is short-lived. Pamela's smile titans, her eyes flickering towards the monitor.
Pamela: “Amara, there's another one coming, the other twin.”
In Ryan’s head: My heart lurches, but not Amara as her gaze for her unwavering for her son.
Amara: “I know, we're ready.”
In Amara’s head: With renewed strength, I channel my primal energy. Another push, another cry and this time…
Pamela: “You've done it again. You have a beautiful baby girl.”
In Amara’s head: This time, the tears came freely, washing away the pain and exhaustion. Ryan brimming his eyes with disbelief and wonder, reaches out, his hand hovering over his daughter's downy head. Pamela lifts the newborns, tiny, wrinkled miracles and places them on my chest. My eyes flooded with tears as I gaze at the bundle of joy, a cry escaping from my lips. Ryan's face crumples with emotion as he reaches out, his finger chasing the curse of our babies cheeks.
Amara: “Hello sunshine's. Welcome to the world.”
In Ryan’s head: The world dissolves into a bubble of pure joy. The sterile walls fade away, replaced by warmth of our tiny family. The miracles of life held close in our arms. The world shrinks to the soft curves of their tiny hands, the rhythmic signs of their lungs. We are a family, four hearts beating and perfect harmony. The sun dips below the horizon, painting the room in a glorious twilight glow, assembling the new dawn that has just broken.
Amara: “She has your eyes.”
Ryan: “And he has yours.”
Amara: “They're a perfect mixture of the both of us. They're perfect.”
Ryan: “Aw, look at his small scar.”
Aria: “Can we come in?”
Ryan: “Do you want them to come in?”
Amara: “Yeah.”
Ryan: “Come in.”
Aria: “Aw, look at them. They're beautiful.”
Amara: “That's your family's scar, right? But what's this? It looks different then his.”
Ryan: “What scar? Female heirs don't inherit the scar.”
Amara: “But she did, I mean it's different but look.”
In Ryan’s head: Amara pointed with her finger but there was nothing. I can't see a scar there.
Ryan: “Love, there's nothing.”
Amara: “I swear, if you're…”
Aria: “I can't see it either.”
Amara: “You guys can't see a scar on her right hand?!”
In Amara’s head: And they all shook their heads at the same time. They can't see it? I tried to touch her hand cautiously. They can't see it, but I can.
Ryan: “We'll figure it out later.”
Aria: “Don't worry, enjoy the moment. Have you guys decided on a name?”
Amara: “Yeah, tell them.”
Ryan: “Meet Raiden Shadowvale Accardi and my princess, Alva Shadowvale Accardi.”
In Amara’s head: For them, I would become a storm. There's nothing I wouldn't do to protect you, my souls. The world might turn hostile but within this territory, you both will grow up with love, care and protection. Breathe easy, my little ones, and your secure haven. In your eyes, I see a future painted with sunrise. A world where the shadows tremble at the sound of your names. For you, my love, I would defy every rule and rewrite every ending. You're my light, my reason, my forever. Sleep peacefully, precious ones, your father and mother watches. The world may threaten but we're ready.
