Chapter 45: Bonus Chapter
In Amara’s head: It's been two days since little Drako came into our lives and I'm still not able to comprehend this precious blessing. After Damon, I thought my heart would never heal but seeing his son's face I forgot that it was never broken. I hope I do justice to this role that I'm given. His grandpa didn't even meet me once but still trusted me to raise his grandchild. My brother's child and his mother…God. I couldn't talk to her that night at the club. Rubina. Even though we didn't meet, I could tell how selfless and kind hearted she was. She brought this precious life into this world into my world without caring about her own. I'm beyond grateful. We sent our men back with the driver who had brought Drako here yesterday and we got to know his grandpa passed away in the hospital he was admitted in. I could feel a little Drako’s heart getting shattered by the news and his bravery shocked me even more when he recollected himself and said his goodbye. It felt like his grandpa was waiting for him to reach me as if even the angel of death respected his wish and gave him extra hours to live. Diavolo arranged for the funeral today, we’ll go and pay our respects. Diavolo is getting to know little Drako ready right now. I don't know what to say about it, about my mate, my husband. He accepted him with open arms without wasting a second and I couldn't ask for anything else. Everyone here accepted him as one of their own and it feels my heart with ease and joy.
Ryan: “Are you ready, love?”
Amara: “Almost. I need my heels and…oh.”
Ryan: “Let me help you.”
Amara: “Are you okay, little one?”
Drako: “Yes, I'm ready.”
Amara: “Why don't you go outside and wait in the car with Uncle Luca. We’ll be there soon.”
Drako: “No. I don't wanna leave you.”
In Amara’s head: Gosh…this is also what I need to get used to. He never wants to separate from me when he's awake. I love spending time with him and that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried about this bond that binds us together because this bond requires for the dragon to protect the heiresses and now heir as well at all costs. And they've protected them without thinking about their own lives since the beginning but I don't want it now, I don't want him to risk his life for my children. I want him to live, dream and find every happiness of this world. After Damon, there would never be another dragon who would die. Even though this bond can't be broken, I'll make sure history won't repeat itself ever again. The funeral was beautiful. (one week later in the kitchen)
Drako: “I love your pie. You make it taste like home.”
Haily: “Aw, thank you baby. This is the best compliment I've received, you know that? I use my mama's recipe. God, I miss her so much.”
Drako: “I thought no one could make it like my grandpa. He used to make these every wednesday.”
Haily: “He must be a great cook, I could tell.”
Drako: “He was. He used to say it's difficult to find those who make great pies and if you find one, marry her. So when I grow up, I'll marry you.”
Eric: “You are a little late for that, young man because she's mine. I'm her mate.”
Drako: “Mate? What's that?”
Haily: “Like soulmates, we are made in pairs and we find each other when the time comes. It's the most precious thing in the world.”
Drako: “Do I also have a mate?”
Haily: “Oh…um…yeah.”
Eric: “Yeah, you'll find her when you grow up.”
Drako: “I'm gonna go get ready now. And you both are bad liars. (Drako’s room)”
Amara: “Are you ready? It's your first day of school, are you excited or nervous?”
Drako: “Neither. And I’m just a little upset because I have to be away from you but I know education is important.”
Amara: “I'm not sending you away, baby. Don't say that, I'll never send you away. Let's not say ‘bye’ because it's for a few hours and you'll come back to me everyday. There’s no need to say goodbye, it's just ‘see you later’.”
Drako: “Sounds good.”
Amara: “Your parents would be so proud of you, little one. And your grandpa too.”
Drako: “My father?”
Amara: “Yes, little one. Both of your parents.”
Drako: “I'm not sure about my father because I never met him. I didn't meet my mom either but my grandpa had told me plenty about her. So it feels like I know her. But my father…I don't know.”
Amara: “I'll tell you everything about him, little one. He loves you and is proud of you.”
Drako: “If you loved me then why did he never come find me?”
Amara: “Because we both were born with cruel fates. Destiny always conspired against us. When you grow up, you'll understand and never doubt his love for you, little one. He would’ve sacrificed everything for you because he did the same for me. I was a stranger to him when we met but he gave me everything. He became the father figure I never had. You’re his blood. He would’ve set the world on fire for you. It's just that fate didn't let him meet you but never doubt his love for you.”
Ryan: “Are you ready?”
Drako: “Yes.”
Amara: “See you later. (later that day). RITA, ARE YOU HERE?!”
Rita: “Oh hey. How are you doing mama?”
Amara: “I really don't know at this point.”
Rita: “Are you in pain?”
Amara: “No, not a lot and that's not why I'm here. I'm here for books which could tell me everything about dragons.”
Rita: “I'll have to look for it. As far as I remember all those books have been destroyed.”
Amara: “What, why?”
Rita: “Circe didn't want anyone to get their hands on that knowledge and use it against the heiress and dragons. And fate was a little merciful as well because most of the time dragons parents were alive for enough time to guide them through everything. Damon was a teenager when both of your parents got murdered so they had taught Damon everything before they died.”
Amara: “Yeah but now there's a dragon heir without his parents. How am I gonna raise him if there's no book or guidance?”
Rita: “I know.”
Amara: “You also think it's an anomaly, don't you?”
Rita: “Yeah, everything has changed. You're having twins even though you're not supposed to get…”
Amara: “Pregnant?”
Rita: “And there’s a dragon heir. Circe didn’t prepare me for any of it, no one expected these miracles to happen.
Amara: “I know. so what am I going to do now? I know nothing about dragons. When do they first shift? Do their scales shed? When will he start breathing fire? What if he hurts himself? What will I do when he'll look to me with questions and his eyes about his existence? What will I tell him? What would I help him with?”
Rita: “Please calm down.”
Amara: “The dragons I met when I was in the past were different. They weren't shifters, They were born as dragons and died as one. There were no human form of them.”
Rita: “So cool. I mean…I know. Don't stress yourself, let me look for it in Circe’s sacred vault. Maybe I'll find something. (later that night Amara’s bedroom)”
Ryan: “My love, it was just a dream. You know I would never cheat on you.”
Amara: “But you did…in my dream.”
Ryan: “It was just a bad dream.”
Amara: “It still counts. Get out!!”
Ryan: “How will you sleep then? You know you can't sleep without my hand on your belly, without my warmth.”
Amara: “I'll manage…get out!! (Azrael’s cackling)”
Azrael: “You should get out before you lose your head.”
In Ryan’s head: You're enjoying it way too much. (outside the bedroom door)
Azrael: “This is what you deserve for cheating on her and her dream.”
In Ryan’s head: Don't start. Give her some time, she'll come around. You know she has bad dreams when she's in pain.
Azrael: “Yeah, she doesn't let it show.”
In Ryan’s head: She even blocks the mate bond so I don't feel anything. It makes me feel helpless. I don't know how to help her.”
Azrael: “Don't beat yourself for it. You know it's not in our control. This pregnancy is a miracle.”
In Ryan’s head: Miracles ask for a price as well. That's what I'm afraid of. What if the babies are hurting her? What if they're like me?
Azrael: “Pull yourself together. You can't let this misery show on your face and make her see. We’ll be strong for her and we've given a lot. A lot has been taken from us. Not anymore. We won't let anyone take anything from us.”
In Ryan’s head: You're right. No one's gonna take our happiness. We’ll get through this.
Amara: “I can't sleep. (Ryan laughs)”
Ryan: “Coming!! (the next day at the park)”
Amara: “So how’s everything going at school, kiddo”?”
Rico: “I hate school.”
Amara: “Why?”
Rico: “They give a lot of homework on friday.”
Amara: “To be honest I never liked school either but I loved learning, I still do. Training your body makes you strong but you gotta train your mind as well. knowledge can get you out of difficult situations without throwing punches and more swiftly.”
Rico: “I wanna be like you when I grow up.”
Amara: “Why not like your uncle Diavolo?”
Rico: “Because he's the alpha. I don't want to become the answer, it's too much work.”
Amara: “I agree, he's attending a meeting right now, busy body.”
Ryan’s Mindlink: “I heard that.”
Amara’s Mindlink: “Good for you, you want a cookie? (Ryan laughs)”
Rico: “Yeah, good luck brother.”
Amara: “You should wish your sister too, don't you think? Maybe she'll grow up and choose to become the alpha.”
Rico: “I thought she would be like Aurelia. She likes dresses and jewelry way too much for my liking.”
Amara: “I guess we will have to wait and find out.”
In Amara’s head: Aurelia is Rico’s sister, Aria and Walter’s daughter. I had fallen in love with her the first time I saw her. As Rico mentioned she loves dresses and jewelry and I love to shower her with those.
Rico: “Those flowers finally bloomed, let me bring them for you. (ten minutes later)”
In Amara’s head: Why is he taking so long? Oh…that’s why.
Amara: “I thought you went to bring me flowers.”
Rico: “I'll get you another one. Lilith…meet angel.”
Lilith: “Hi, I’m Lilith.”
Amara: “Hello beautiful.”
Rico: “I know right, she's so beautiful.”
Amara: “What are you doing here all alone? Where are your parents?”
Tomas: “Lilith, where are you?! Oh. (Ryan runs in). Alpha, we don't mean any harm.”
Ryan: “You're visiting someone here?”
Tomas: “Yes, my brother. This is my daughter, Lilith.”
Ryan: “You can stay here as long as you want.”
Tomas: “Thank you, alpha but I feel it's our last visit. We're leaving the country.”
Amara’s Mindlink: I feel you'll have to come back soon.”
Ryan’s Mindlink: “Why?”
Amara’s Mindlink: “I feel a mate bond is brewing. (the next morning Amara’s room)”
In Ryan’s head: Soon they’ll outnumber us or maybe they have already. They'll become the masters of this house and will wrap all of us in their little fingers. The other day I saw Walter dressed like a fucking princess with all that makeup and jewelry and Aurelia even made him dance. I would never run that fast in my life then I did that day. I was traumatized. I did take a few pictures that I would use on the right occasion. What if my baby girl did the same thing to me? What will happen to my dignity, my reputation? I would never recover from that.
Amara: “Diavolo?”
Ryan: “Yes, love?”
Amara: “I'm losing weight.”
