Chapter 25:
Jenna: “What’s this Diavolo? You said you didn’t want anything serious yet you’re here with this bitch. But let me tell you, if you haven’t figured it out, I’m pregnant with your baby. And you…you better back up now! My baby needs a father and I’m sure your mother hasn’t taught you to become a homewrecker.”
Amara: “My mother? Oh darling, my mother didn’t teach me anything. You know why? Because she was too busy sniffing cocaine.”
Ryan’s Wolf: “She’s lying, she can’t be pregnant with our pups. She’s a human and she’s not even our mate. The baby in her womb is a human too, I can tell.”
In Ryan’s head: I know Azrael. I never slept with any she-wolves because I knew there could be a chance they could get pregnant but a human can never. I know she’s lying but how am I gonna convince Amara she’s lying? Fuck my life. Now I get why Luca shouted ‘you’ve got a problem’ instead of ‘we’ve got a problem’.
Ryan: “I can explain. I swear it’s not mine.”
Amara: “How do you know? You slept with her so it could be yours.”
Ryan: “I did have a one-night stand with her but she can’t be pregnant with my baby.”
Jenna: “I’m pregnant with your baby, Diavolo.”
Amara: “I guess we have to cancel our date because you have to take her to her doctor’s appointment now.”
Jenna: “See? Your little girlfriend is more sensible than you. You better take care of me and your baby now.”
Ryan: “Listen, woman. I would’ve taken care of that child if it was mine but it’s not and I’m not gonna let you ruin my life with your lies.”
Jenna: “Why are you saying it’s not yours? Of course I can be pregnant with your child.”
In Ryan’s head: You can’t because you’re a fucking human and I’m a werewolf.
Jenna: “I don’t care what people say about you, Diavolo. I don’t fear you. As long as I’m carrying your child, you’ll do as I say. Do you hear me?”
In Ryan’s head: Why is she laughing?
Amara: “Okay, enough with the drama. I can no longer pretend that I’m buying this act so drop it whatever your name is.”
In Amara’s head: I knew she was lying the moment the first word came out her mouth.
Amara: “And even if you were carrying his child you can’t tell him to do as you please. There’s no way you can force a man to be the father of your child because he’d become a shitty father anyway and your child would end up with daddy issues and he clearly said he would’ve taken care of it if it was his but it’s not.”
Jenna: “Are you fucking stupid? I’m telling you it’s his.”
Amara: “Where’s the proof? Do you have a DNA test report?”
Jenna: “How dare you ask me for proof?”
Amara: “Come on, stop wasting my time. You’re doing this because someone offered you money, right? You’ll be paid three times of how much he or she paid. Tell the truth.”
In Silvia’s head: Don’t you dare open your mouth.
Amara: “I’m waiting.”
Jenna: “You know what? You’re right, I can’t act anymore. I’m fucking exhausted and I need to pee. Sorry Diavolo, it’s nothing personal. I need money because my boyfriend refused to take any responsibility. I’m sorry.”
In Silvia’s head: Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
Ryan: “What do you think you’re going?”
Amara: “Let her go, Diavolo. Someone else exploited her situation. It’s not her fault.”
Ryan: “You knew she was lying?”
Amara: “Of course, I’m not stupid. I could easily tell when someone’s lying but that’s not important, you know what’s important? Find another person who paid her to lie and did you announce it on national tv that you and I are dating? We aren’t even official yet then how did she know that I’m the girl you’re dating? Blondie? You better come up with a good plan than this next time.”
Walter: “Silvia?! What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Aria: “I’ll lose my mind in this house. (later on in the garden)”
Amara: “How was school?”
Rico: “I hate school.”
Amara: “What happened?”
Rico: “I made a new friend a few days ago, today someone was making fun of him because he’s a crybaby. That he cries all the time like a girl. I made them go away but my friend was upset and started crying. Is crying bad? Why do people make fun of you when you cry?”
In Amara’s head: I hate bullies, I wish I could tell him ‘just go back and break his nose then he’s gonna cry to his mama’ and then say ‘now who’s a crying little bitch’ but unfortunately I can’t say that.
Amara: “People are weird kiddo and they always got something to say. If you cry too much you’re emotional. They’ll call you a crybaby and if you don’t cry at all, don’t show any emotions then they’ll call you heartless and rude. They’ll say how can you not feel anything, you should feel more, show your emotions. My point is never care about what people say and don’t be a people pleaser, you weren’t born to please everyone. Crying isn’t bad.”
Rico: “Do you cry?”
Amara: “No.”
Rico: “Why not?”
In Amara’s head: Why do kids ask so many questions?
Amara: “Because I value my tears because no one else did and it’s not like I don’t cry. I used to cry a lot then I got tired of crying and I started laughing at my miseries then a knight in shining armor come to save me. But it wasn’t a boy inside the armor, it was a girl with black hair and blue eyes. Did you get it?”
Rico: “Yes. It was you, you saved yourself.”
Amara: “Yes.”
Rico: “But what do you mean by value your tears?”
Amara: “It means I don’t cry, I don’t give anyone any power over me. People make you cry because you give them that power and if I’d ever give someone that power and they use it, things will get ugly. The tears I shed are valuable to me, so if I cry, one should be aware that it’s dangerous because I’m deeply wounded and I have a habit of turning my pain into anger and nobody’s safe when I’m angry. I’m also protective of myself, I’d do anything to protect myself. You should tell your friend to cry everyday, what will you do?”
Rico: “I’ll comfort him, feel bad for him.”
Amara: “After a few days will it affect you the same way it did today?”
Rico: “Maybe.”
Amara: “No, it won’t. You’ll get used to his tears and it won’t affect you that much and one day he’ll also grow up and won’t cry that often, things that’s hurting him now won’t anymore. That’s how we humans are.”
Rico: “So I shouldn’t cry?”
Amara: “You’re a kid, you can cry, no one should judge you but when you grow up you’ll need to decide who you would show your vulnerable side to. People are cruel, they judge you even when you’re at your lowest. You don’t have to be like me. I didn’t have a good life. Life taught me many lessons and made me the person I am but your life isn’t like mine, you have loving parents and an uncle of course. They love you. Be grateful and enjoy every moment of your childhood and I’m proud of you for standing up for your friend and comforting him. (Ryan was watching - in Damon’s room). Drako. We're going to the club tonight.”
Damon: “That’s nice, have fun.”
Amara: “Yes we’ll go and have fun.”
Damon: “We?”
Amara: “Yes, you’re coming too.”
Damon: “I’m too old for that shit.”
Amara: “You’re just thirty five. What are you talking about?”
Damon: “But-”
Amara: “No, no excuses. You’re coming with us. (Amara’s room)”
Ryan: “How did you know she was lying?”
Amara: “I could tell. But what would you have done if it was really yours?”
Ryan: “It didn’t even occur to me because whoever I slept with, I knew that I wasn’t going to impregnate them.”
Amara: “You mean you’ve always had protected sex?”
Ryan: “Yes.”
In Ryan’s head: Kind of.
Amara: “But it would’ve been fun to watch you changing diapers.”
Ryan: “You were enjoying it way too much.”
Amara: “You should’ve seen your face.”
Ryan: “I wasn’t stressed about the baby. I was stressed that you wouldn’t give me a chance to explain and that you would leave me because of a lie.”
Amara: “I find the truth no matter what and I can tell when someone is lying. What?”
Ryan: “Nothing.”
Amara: “So which club are we going to?”
Ryan: “It’s a special club.”
Amara: “And what’s so special about it?”
Ryan: “I own it.”
In Ryan’s head: And it’s a werewolves club.
Amara: “Of course.”
Ryan: “Yeah, so no one will dare look in your direction. Don’t roll your eyes at me.”
Amara: “Or what?”
Ryan: “Or this. (at the club)”
In Damon’s head: Whatever it is, it’s good. (half an hour later)
In Amara’s head: Where’s Drako? Wow. He’s talking to a woman? I’m happy for him.
Damon: “I’m sorry, I mistook you for someone else.”
Rubina: “Who?”
Damon: “You look like my wife, I mean you have similar features as her.”
In Rubina’s head: He’s married. He’s handsome. Get a hold of yourself, he’s off limits.
Rubina: “Really? Is she here with you?”
Damon: “No, she’s dead.”
Rubina: “I’m sorry.”
Damon: “Don’t be, it’s not your fault. (at the bar)”
Kelly: “Hello Diavolo.”
Ryan: “Not interested, Kelly.”
Kelly: “You never say no to me. I know how to please you better than anyone else.”
Ryan: “I said I’m not interested.”
Kelly: “And I don’t believe you.
Amara: “I’d remove that finger if I were you.”
Kelly: “What’s your problem bitch? Go mind your own business.”
Amara: “I’m very much minding my own business because he is my business. Keep your fingers to yourself will prevent your hands from getting broken.”
Kelly: “Who the hell do you think you are? Do you know who I am? Who my father is?”
Amara: “Why? Your mother didn’t tell you?”
Kelly: “You s-”
Amara: “Choose your next word wisely. You don’t know me and what I’m capable of and you should be scared of that. Now leave before I show you what I mean.”
In Ryan’s head: She’s so sexy when she threatens.
In Kelly’s head: Why am I getting uncomfortable in the presence of a mere human? I’m aware of for fuck sake but my wolf curled up in fear.
In Amara’s head: I don’t know about anyone else but I was having a blast. Drako isn’t here anymore, maybe he left early to go home. (the next morning Amara’s room - half an hour later in the living room). Is that the walk of shame? I ain’t see anything. In fact, I’m blind. (later that day Amara’s bathroom). He didn’t even tell me where he’s taking me. Let’s get dressed. (picnic place)”
Amara: “It’s beautiful.”
Ryan: “I knew you wouldn’t like a crowded place so I arranged this. I hope you like it.”
Amara: “Like? No…I love it.”
Ryan: “Did I tell you how gorgeous you’re looking right now?”
Amara: “You told me a hundred times already.”
Ryan: “And I’ll keep telling you the whole night. (an hour later)”
Amara: “The food was amazing.”
Ryan: “I’m glad you like it otherwise I’d have a conversation with the chef.”
Amara: “Thank you for everything.”
Ryan: “Thank you for coming. You don’t know how happy I am.”
Amara: “What is it?”
Ryan: “What?”
Amara: “I feel you trying to say something.”
Ryan: “Is that obvious? Be mine…be my girlfriend. I know it’s too soon to ask but I can’t help myself. I want you to be my girlfriend. Because I…”
Amara: “I’d love to be your girlfriend.”
