A/N: Hiya again. Just wanted to drop in and tell my friends thank you. Thank you for reading & commenting oddball, N.Y.O.B., PenumbraMINE, and Jo Jo Sprout. Y'all make my day so much brighter.
Recap
The twins were sneaking down the steps. They stopped in front of a wall for some reason but I instantly knew what was going on. They had pulled from our play-book. I watched as the enforcer hit two spots on the wall then pushed his hand in the middle of the wall. The wall parted and I could see they were outside of the compound. It was a good plan, but I wanted to see where they were outside of the compound. I wanted to remember the doorway and I needed landmarks.
The twins walked between two rocks and ended up behind the cartel leader of Peru. The Peru leader was barking out orders to his men. I caught what he said at the same time the twins did. Well, shit! There goes our plan for death and destruction before our plans of death and destruction.
“What do you mean we stole money from you?” The twin leader yelled out. He was in so many crosshairs it was unreal. Every person around the Peru leader had their guns trained on them.
“You stole money from us!” The Peru leader screamed, his face flushed with anger, his fists balled up.
Cats POV
“No, we didn’t. We haven’t touched your money,” the enforcer stated as he took a step forward.
His brother pulled him back. “We have had a hacker checking on our enemy, maybe he knows something. I will call him and have him meet us here. I will call a cease-fire before I call him if you would like.”
The Peru leader nodded and the twin leader grabbed his walkie. “Cease fire. No one is to fire a shot or I will kill you dead in seconds. Jordan, get here now. We are by the rocks to the west of our compound.”
“Yes, sir,” I heard a voice answer. We waited to see who his hacker was. All I could see was the back of his head when we looked at the security footage before. I wanted to know exactly what he looked like so I could file his picture away in my mind.
The hacker finally came up on the men and I could see what he looked like by using the camera’s Martim had set around the perimeter of the compound. He was a skinny kid who was human.
A human?
I was surprised and everyone could tell when I gasped. “He has a human hacker working in a shifter compound? What the hell?” I exclaimed. The kid, yes kid, was skinny as a pole. He had acne all over his face and his hair was long enough to reach the middle of his back - which he had tied at the nape of his neck. He looked as if he was pulled into the cartel from the streets, but how does a hacker, a human hacker, work for the cartel without knowing about shifters? He had to know something about them unless he's been kept in a dark, soundproofed room.
“This is your hacker?” The Peru cartel boss asked incredulously. I was thinking the same thing as the Peru leader and I could tell the twins were not at all happy at the other bosses comment.
“He says I stole money from him. I need you to look and see what happened.” The idiot stood there for a second stupefied. “Now!” The cartel boss yelled at him, causing the idiot hacker to jump. I needed for him to say his name. I needed to know who this guy was.
I caught Martim typing furiously out of the corner of my eye. I looked at this computer and saw him adding the money into one of the cartel leader’s accounts. He had a smirk on his face the whole time he was typing. I knew then and there Martim was up to no good - which didn't surprise me. I didn't think I could be surprised again after watching him work as if he had magic fingers.
He finished typing and smiled. “That should fix the hacker problem.” I looked at him and shook my head. “I put some of the money into the cartel’s account and the rest of it into the hacker’s account.” The guys started laughing, Madrid the loudest. I was still in shock of what my mate accomplished in the small amount of time we had.
I looked back at the camera’s and whistled loudly, pointing my finger at the hacker. They all quieted down and we watched the hacker break down. He was shaking as if he was having a seizure. His fingers had stopped moving across his keyboard and he looked scared, as if his life was ending soon.
I could only hope so
The twins looked at the hacker, an angry look on their faces. “What are you doing? Find out what’s going on,” the enforcer said through gritted teeth.
The hacker started shaking even more. “I found it but it doesn’t make sense. I didn’t touch it.”
I watched as the twins walked over and looked at his screen. I could almost smell the hackers’ fear from where I was sitting. The man, or boy, was sweating bullets. His eyes looked as if he had taken a hit off his boss’s product.
“What the hell is this? Why do you have Peru’s boss’s money in our account and some in yours? What is the meaning of this?” The boss questioned, not getting an answer. The enforcer’s claws came out and he ripped out his hackers throat in one swipe. I was surprised he didn't give his hacker time to answer his questions. I knew he would be dead soon, but why didn't say anything?
The other twin walked over and grabbed the laptop and walked over to the Peru boss. “We had no idea that he did this to your money. We would never condone such behavior. But, I’m not sure it was him. It looks as if another hacker, we are having a problem with, has been playing both of us, but I’m not positive. I’ve got to find another hacker. I would love to hire this hacker though.”
The Peru boss looked him in the eyes and sighed. “I want this money back in my account before I leave, can you do that much?”
The twin boss looked him in the eyes, not liking that he had questioned his skills. “Don't question me about how my cartel works and I won't question yours. Now, if you would like I can put the money in your account right now.” He walked over to one of the rocks and set the laptop down. “I’m going to need you to put your account information in when I get to the part where it asks for your account. I don’t have the information and I don’t really want it.” The Peru boss nodded and walked over.
Martim started typing on his computer again, causing me to look at him in question. “What are you doing now?”
“I’m hiding the money from them.”
“Uh, Martim, you hiding their money is going to have the Peru boss on our asses. We don’t need two bosses hounding us,” I explained, scratching the back of my neck.
“She’s right, Martim,” Madrid said as he walked over and laid a hand on Martim’s shoulder. I knew Martim wanted to mess with them more, but we needed to be smart about it. We already had people gunning for us and I wasn't looking to piss off even more.
Martim nodded and started typing again. I noticed he had put all the money into the cartel’s account, but I kept my mouth shut. I knew what he was doing. He was trying to mess with the twins minds.
“There, it’s back into the twins account,” Madrid said as he looked at me and smirked. He knew I saw what he did, but Madrid didn’t know what he did.
“What the hell?” The cartel boss said, a look of confusion on his face.
“What? What’s wrong?” The Peru boss questioned, anger in his tone, his face red and his fists clenched.
Hacking 101
Idiots
“The money is missing from the hacker’s account. The hacker sent it to my account and rather quickly, too. I can put all the money in your account. I was surprised at how quick the hacker was,” the twin boss explained as he opened his account and handed the computer over to the Peru boss. “Your turn. I can’t hit send until your information is imputed.” The Peru leader pulled the computer in front of him, his whole body blocking the screen from view.
“There, now all you need to do his hit send,” the Peru boss said as he handed the computer back to the other leader.
The twin boss typed his information quickly into the computer. I was writing the account number down as quick as I could. He closed the laptop and nodded his head. We waited until the Peru boss’s hacker checked the account and nodded his head.
“Well, I guess we are even now. Make sure you take care of the other hacker,” the Peru boss stated. The Peu men turned their backs to the twins, a sign of disrespect and a sign of ‘we are scared of you’.
“The nerve of that man,” the enforcer commented as he stared at the men.
“Yeah, he’s a pompous ass, but we aren’t ready to take them down yet. We need to find another hacker and find out why the weapons didn’t work first,” the twin boss stated, his gaze watching the men leave. “Have someone follow them to their plane.”
The enforcer nodded and grabbed the first cat he came to. “Follow them, but don’t get caught. We want to make sure they leave and don’t double back. We should have been aware of their arrival before they even left Peru. Do you understand my words?” The man nodded. “Don’t fuck this up. Go.” The man ran off and we watched the enforcer walk through the doors.
“Well, damn, I thought they would have killed more people.” Martim sighed. “Now, we are going to have to be careful if they get their guns, or our guns, fixed.”
