Recap

“Sophia,” I whispered. She turned her head towards me. “The cartel knows we are going to be there before their deadline. They will be waiting on us. Do you think we should wait for another few days?” I knew the guys heard me. I couldn’t read their expressions and it aggravated me to no end.

“I agree, but will uncle Madrid agree?” She whisper yelled, causing me to roll my eyes at what she thought was a whisper.

“Why do you two want to wait for a few days?” Madrid asked, obviously hearing Sophia.

I looked him in the eyes. “They will be ready for us, but if we wait for a little bit they will get complacent. They won’t be looking as closely for us and it will throw off their game plan.”

Madrid looked at my dad and then turned his attention to Martim. “What do you think, Martim? Will they be waiting on us?”

Seriously?

Cat’s POV

I could tell Martim was thinking about what the cartel would do. “If we wait they will become complacent. Their grunts are lazy and easily distracted. They will have snipers in the trees and claymores in certain places. It would be better to wait for another two to three days. But, we need to watch and listen to the cameras to see if their plans change. Someone needs to watch the cameras at all times, changing off with others after an eight hour shift.”

“I think we should wait, Madrid. Martim, Sophia, and Cat make sense. They think we will run to them to get Cruz but you know he is long gone for now,” our dad commented, a frown on his face when he mentioned Cruz. I knew I wouldn’t want to be Cruz when the military caught up to him. He will have to pay in the juvenile courts and then to military prison if Madrid has his way. He deserved what came his way. Did I hate him? I didn’t think so, but I was pissed off at him. I wanted to be the one who got her hands on him.

“What about the rest of you?” Madrid asked as he turned his head to the Shadow Cats. “Do you think it would be better to wait to go in?”

The rest of the Shadow Cats looked at each other and then me. I knew they had listened to what I had said. They had listened to both of us. I had a gut feeling about the earlier plans and my gut had never steered me wrong.

“I think we should wait,” Dragon stated, the rest of the Shadow Cats nodding along with his words. “Cat's gut is speaking to her and you know better than to go against it. The last time we did it we lost two men.”

I finished eating my food when we decided to wait. I knew when it would be time to go. I knew Sophia had the same feelings as I did. Her jaguar was helping her to know more about her surroundings, but she was also helping her to know what was right and what was right at the best time. I was happy and proud of her for listening to her cat.

I looked up at Martim. “Are you ready to sew?”

“Let’s do this,” he answered. We got up at the same time as Sophia and her mate did. I nodded at Madrid and we walked to my room. I grabbed two more sewing machines and took them to Sophia’s room, but we didn’t have enough room on her desk for two more machines.

“Grab everything and let’s go back to the table,” I basically ordered. We all grabbed our machines and our cut material. We walked back into the main cavern and shooed some of the guys away from the table. Madrid looked up with a questioning look, but I didn’t answer. We needed to get these done and get some sleep.

We sewed the bags, finishing them by one o’ clock in the morning. I could see the guys drooping as much as I was. Sophia looked as if she could have done them all by herself and then ran a marathon.

“What?’ She asked as she felt my eyes on her.

I shook my head slowly from side to side. “You could have sewn them by yourself. How in the hell are you still looking as if you slept for eight hours?” She laughed and showed me what she was drinking.

Very observant, I am

“Well, shit! I couldn’t tell what you were drinking until you held it up for me, but I also don’t know if I sewed everything properly either.”

“I’ll check it over for you. Go on, I can tell you and Martim are about to fall over.” She looked at Firash, better known as Trigger. “Trigger, you can lay on my bed and I’ll join you after I check the bags over, okay?” Trigger nodded and walked over to the bed, falling face down. She giggled as I got up and pulled Martim with me to our room.

“Are you sure you want me to sleep with you?” My head snapped over to his with a ‘what the fuck are you talking about’ look on my face. His hands immediately went up in the air. “I was just making sure, okay?”

I decided to not answer and took him by his hand. I was ready to get to our room and sleep. I slept better with him by my side. It was as if he kept the demons at bay in my mind. And, I had a lot of demons in there, most of them about the cartel leaders.

We walked into our room and I ran over to the bed. “I’m going to take a shower, do you want to join me?” He asked, his eyebrows wiggling up and down.

I slapped my hand on my forehead. “I want sleep and I want it now.” He shrugged his shoulders and started walking away. “But, I want you more.” He ran back to me and carried me to the bathroom, both of us stripping as much as possible.

Martim turned the water on as I finished taking my clothes off. I turned back around and saw Martim ogling my ass. And, now he was ogling my front, but I was doing the same to him. My man was a fine piece of real estate. He had his own zip code in the package department. It didn’t take him but a second to walk over to me. I licked my lips at the sight.

“Does my maughty mate want to play or get straight to the good stuff?” He asked, pulling our bodies until they were touching.

“Well-” I tried to say.

“-Cat, are you in there? Let me in right now!” My dad yelled outside of my door.

“Well, great!” I threw my hands in the air. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me. “I swear I’m going to strangle him if it’s not important.”

“Cat, open this door before I break it down!”

“For fuck’s sake, I’m coming!” I yelled back, but I heard what he said back.

I walked over to the door and pulled it open as he was about to knock again. “Fuck!” He said when he saw the look on my face.

“What in the sam hell is so important you need to keep me from a shower and sleep?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

“I need you to come to the main cavern, it’s important,” he said more calmly.

“Well, you need to let me get dressed first,” I stated. My dad nodded his head and walked over to the opposite wall. He leaned against it - which made me roll my eyes and slam my bedroom door closed.

“Do we need to go right now?” Marim asked as he got dressed.

“Yes, but I’m taking a shower to wake up some. My dad can wait for five more minutes,” I told Martim as I walked to the bathroom.

I started the shower and made sure the temperature was cold. My shower consisted of a five second wash. I grabbed my suit and put it back on, throwing my fatigues over it. I ran to my closet and pulled on my shit kickers, grabbing Martim’s hand five-seconds later.

I opened my door and heard my dad growl - resulting in me giving him a hiss of displeasure. I could tell he was surprised that I hissed at him, but come on, he was getting on my last and only nerve. He’s lucky I haven’t decked him.

Yet

“Quit growling at me or my mate, Dad, or else I’m going to give you a headache and mom won’t do anything to stop it, she will be cheering me on, right, Mom?” I asked when I smelled her around the corner.

“She’s right, I would be cheering her on, so stop it. They are mates. I know you wouldn’t have waited for me if I was her age,” my mom made sure to let him know.

“I know, I know.” He sighed. “They are growing up too fast and I’m not used to it.”

I started laughing, my mom joining me. It took a while to get air back in our lungs. “I haven’t been a child in a long time, Dad.”

My mom started laughing again. “She quit being a child at the age of ten.” I nodded my head in agreement.

We walked into the main cavern and everyone was running around as if they lost their minds. I saw Sophia rolling her eyes and trying to get everyone’s attention. I whistled as loud as I could, everyone ducking down with their hands over their ears. It kind of hurt mine too, but I wanted to know what had happened for everyone to act the way they were doing.

“What the fuck is wrong with all of you?” Sophia yelled, crossing her arms over and chest and staring each of them down.

I was so proud

No one said anything. “Don’t tell me no one heard my sister’s question.” Again, the all looked down and I looked at Madrid. “Someone better tell me now!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
