Chapter 37 Fear of being turned away
"Everything downstairs has been handled."
Sarah nodded. "You prepare to accompany me to Dover."
"What happened?"
"I told you in the car."
While talking, Sarah walked outside.
Without much delay, Jacob immediately followed her downstairs.
On the Raleigh expressway.
Sarah looked out of the window with a worried face. "My grandfather may be ill. He hasn't gone out for a long time. I'm afraid..."
She couldn't say the rest and dared not think of the worst.
No wonder she looked sad just now. Jacob restrained his expression and considered the wording.
"Don't worry, we'll know everything when we go."
After about two and a half hours, the car arrived at the Dover toll station.
Leaving the toll gate, Jacob said, "Do you know where we are going next?"
Sarah searched the map by phone. "Go ahead first."
Jacob looked around. Just one kilometer from the toll gate here, there was an island roundabout. He didn't use navigation. After a circle around the island, he drove into the main road.
Just like he had been living here for a long time, and he especially was familiar with the road.
"The navigation also showed that we should walk from here. You're so smart." Sarah said.
She had never been to Dover and was unfamiliar with everything here.
The man next to her explained, "I played with my friends in Dover before, so I probably remember."
Sarah nodded thoughtfully and turned to look out of the window at the high-rise buildings stacked. Her mind was full of thoughts about how grandpa was.
"Why didn't you start the navigation?" The more Jacob moved forward, the more he realized something was wrong.
Did Sarah take advantage of his inattention to assess him?
However, the fact was that Sarah was too obsessed with her thoughts and ignored opening navigation.
"Ah, sorry I forgot."
She reacted and pressed the function key of voice navigation.
The car moved smoothly. Because Jacob was familiar with the road, everything became simple.
"The asphalt road in Madison is still comfortable to drive. There is no speed limit, no busy crowd, and no messy troubles."
It's not hard to hear a bit of complaint in her voice.
Jacob picked his eyebrows. "You can imagine yourself as a boat, swimming on an unknown lake to your heart's content. No one can control you."
If you are willing to land, I will be your apron.
Sarah slightly puffed out a turbid breath but didn't answer.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a relatively secluded quadrangle. The closed iron door showed a kind of coolness that kept people away. Sarah sat in the car and hesitated for a moment. She dared not get off at the door.
"Isn't it here?"
Jacob glanced at the plaque outside: No. 266, North East Road.
He knew all the quadrangles in the north of the city. The prices were not particularly expensive, but they are not affordable to well-off people.
It can be seen that Sarah's father was a very filial man before his death.
Sarah clutched the seat belt in hesitation, and her mind was full of thoughts.
She was a little afraid that her grandfather would turn her away.
The crisp tone of "pa" fell, and the handle of the seat belt in her hand jumped up and caught between her curled-up fingers.
Jacob unties her seat belt.
"Come on, you can't be a shrinking turtle, can you?"
The man got off the car first and took out the cakes he had bought for grandpa in a hurry.

According to Sarah, grandpa liked sweet-scented osmanthus cake very much, which was the same as her.
Jacob stood in front of the iron gate and taped on the door panel. He asked, "Is anyone there?" Sarah got off the car and adjusted her breathing, but she stood behind Jacob.
"Aren't you promising?"
From the top of her head came the man's light breath, which sprayed on her hair and set off shivers.
She looked up and glared, "You're not promising."
With these words, she stood upright and looked brave.
Suddenly, the door was opened, and a woman over seventy looked at them through the crack.
In her memory, Sarah had never seen this completely strange woman.
"Who are you looking for?"
The woman asked tentatively, but she did not intend to let them in.
Sarah was completely blindsided by this scene. She had never experienced anything like this.
"Hello, we are from Davis Family. We want to find Mr. Dylan. Does he still live here?"
Jacob on the side asked with a gentle attitude, just like the sunny boy next door. "Mr. Dylan? Are you from Raleigh?"
The woman's expression became fierce as if they had done something heinous. Suddenly, Sarah thought that the woman knew something about Raleigh.
"Aunt, I'm Mr. Dylan's granddaughter. My name is Sarah."
Her self-introduction did not make the woman's expression warm. The next second, she planned to close the door. "Go, you are not welcome here!"
A strong arm reacted very quickly and blocked the door. The stuffy hum fell into the ears of the three people present.

The woman sneered and raised her hand to take out Jacob's hand.
If she had moved faster and reacted slower, the young man would have been caught.
"How is it?"
Sarah grabbed the man's arm, and it seemed that his arm was cut with a red mark.
Sarah's good-looking eyebrows screwed up anxiously. She didn't care to see her grandfather first and wanted to take him to the hospital.
The woman's eyes dodged, and her voice turned gentle. "This can't be blamed on me. It was you who wanted to break in."
The man stopped Sarah from taking him.
His deep dark eyes softened, and he looked at the woman and pleaded with her.
"We sincerely came to see grandpa, because she had an accident five years ago and has not been able to come since. This time, she came to see Grandpa as soon as she returned home. No matter what the reason, would you let us see Grandpa first?"
There was a few seconds of silence in the air.
Sarah softened his voice. "Please, if I hadn't had an accident five years ago, I would have..."
The woman interrupted her and asked for her identity again. "What did you say your name was?" "Sarah."
The next second, the woman opened the door and said, "Please come in."
Looking at the woman's step back, Sarah was happy and bowed to thank her.
"Thank you."
"I'm the nanny who takes care of Mr. Dylan. Please call me Aunt Kayla." The woman relaxed a little.
She watched the two people behave in a low-key and humble manner, and thought it over before letting them in.
"Aunt Kayla, why did you agree to let me in?"
Sarah looked sideways at the woman leading the way. She looked more than 50 years old.
"I was hired by your father before. It seemed that your father had expected this situation, so he gave me a fee in advance so that I could come to this house in Dover and wait for your grandfather if he had any trouble in the future."
