Pampered by Billionaires after Being Betrayed

Chapter 90

Chapter 90 Brother

Compared

to the warmth of the Hilton hotel, the Reed household was now eerily quiet, with a sense of impending storm.

After the scolding from Satan at the hotel, nobody had much of an appetite. This meeting was about to conclude.

Carol suggested, "Why don't you stay at your mother's house for a few days, Sophia? It's been so long since you've seen each other; you must miss each other."

Sophia actually wanted to stay at Grace's house, but Grace refused, saying, "She's carrying your family's heir now. I think it's better for her to stay at your house. Dads should be with their unborn children and pregnant wives. It's better for everyone." Carol didn't insist further and could only nod, saying, "You're right."

Sophia and Carol saw Logan Morgan off, while Nathan sat in the living room watching TV.

When Carol returned, she patted his shoulder and said, "Nathan, come with me, I need to talk to you."

They went into a guest room, leaving Sophia standing outside, feeling like an outsider.

She snorted in frustration and went upstairs, slamming the bedroom door to vent her displeasure.

The two in the guest room heard the door slam.

Carol sat down, sighing, "Sophia's mother is quite a tough person; dealing with her for just one day exhausts me. Turns out Sophia's temperament is inherited from her mother."

Nathan disagreed, leaning against the wall with folded arms, expressionless. "Isn't she quite gentle?"

"Gentle my foot! Nathan, let me tell you, this woman is very scheming. Don't be fooled by her facade of gentleness; she's full of tricks. Have you not noticed how Mr. Morgan listens to her? Mr. Morgan is a famous designer, what is she? She has no status. But she can control Mr. Morgan; she's not just an ordinary woman."

Nathan understood the logic but wasn't interested in Sophia; naturally, he wasn't interested in her mother either.

Carol sighed, "I miss Emily. She had no mother, so she had to listen to us. Whatever I told her to do, she did. Unlike Sophia now, she practically thinks she's a princess. And her mother, she keeps warning me to treat her daughter well. If she feels we're not treating her daughter well, she'll go find another man, and leave us alone!"

After listening, Nathan's eyes flickered, and he straightened up. "Mom, if you had to choose between Sophia and Emily, who would you choose?"

"But that won't work; Emily can't have children. Our family needs an heir."

"She can have children."

Carol turned her head in surprise, "Emily?"

"Yeah," Nathan said, "she can have children. There's nothing wrong with her body."

"But I saw the test report for blocked fallopian tubes with my own eyes! How is that possible?"

"That doctor who issued the test results is a classmate of Sophia's mother. They planned it together. They deliberately said Emily couldn't have children so that Sophia could enter our family at the right O moment."

"My God..." Carol was stunned, not knowing what to say for a moment. "How do you know?"

"Mom, do you remember that masked man?"

Carol nodded, "I remember, he's the fugitive!"

"I was investigating him, and incidentally had someone look into the doctor at the hospital. I initially. thought it was all Sophia's scheme, until I found out her mother's name. That's when I realized it was her mother behind all this," Nathan closed his eyes. "Mom, we've been blaming Emily wrongly."

Carol shrugged dismissively. "Things are as they are, what else can we do? She doesn't have a father like Mr. Morgan, her value still can't compare to Sophia's. Nathan, since things have come to this point, you mustn't act foolishly. Even if you like Emily, you have to keep your distance from her, understand? Now that someone is backing Sophia, you have to treat her better, and Mr. Morgan must stay in our company. Reed Corporation was built by your grandfather, it can't be ruined by you."

Nathan had his own ideas. "I can make her Mrs. Reed, but she can't meddle in other matters."

Carol signed. "Can't you be more sensible? Emily is just a woman. Why are you so infatuated with her?"

"I don't care, I just want Emily."

"You..." Carol stood up in anger. "Are you trying to drive me crazy? I risked my life to save you from that fire, almost died myself. I raised you with so much hardship, do you appreciate it?" Here it comes again.

Nathan dreaded his mother bringing up the fire incident.

"I know. When our house was on fire, Dad wasn't there, you chose to save me and left my brother. Mom, you've said these words a million times since I was little, my ears are numb to it."

"I lost a son to save your life!" Carol exclaimed bitterly. "If I knew you would turn out like this for a woman, I would have saved your brother instead."

Nathan turned and walked out. "It's too late for regrets now, my brother burned to death long ago."
