Chapter 113
Chapter 113 Get Out
Watching Sophia being forcibly lifted onto the stretcher and escorted out of the haunted house by the staff, Emily finally breathed a sigh of relief. The phone call was still ongoing.
Mr. Satan chuckled lightly, "Have you considered a career in entertainment?"
Emily blinked, "What?"
"Your acting skills are great. If you became an actress, you'd have a bright future."
Emily pursed her lips, "You're just teasing me."
Mr. Satan said, "I just feel gratified. You're becoming more confident now, like a female warrior."
Emily sighed inwardly.
Before marrying Nathan, she truly was a female warrior.
Her family was very poor. She had to do several jobs to earn money.
Back then... she was truly a tough woman. But since she married Nathan, she has become weaker and weaker. A bad marriage can break a person.
"Am I boring?" She remembered what Nathan had said earlier, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I'm not like Sophia, I don't know how to win men's favor."
"You don't need to be like her, Emily. You're fine as you are now. It's just that the four years at the Reed family have worn away your original confidence, making you weaker."
Emily held the phone, walking slowly along the path ahead, unsure of what the next scene would bring, but his voice in her ear seemed to calm her entire being.
Accompaniment is the best form of love. Now she truly understood the meaning of that phrase.
"Mr. Satan, do I know the woman you like?"
Since he had been paying attention to her for a long time, could the woman he cared about be someone she knew?
Mr. Satan gave her a definitive answer, "Somewhat."
"Is she my classmate? Or a colleague?"
"Emily..." Mr. Satan chuckled helplessly, "Who are you suspecting? Olivia, right?"
Emily blushed slightly, "I wasn't."
Mr. Satan's voice turned serious, "Emily, my identity cannot be revealed yet. If you want to know the truth, you'll have to wait until my identity is made public. I can only tell you that when I explain everything to you, you'll understand why I did all this." Emily fell silent for a moment, then replied with a soft "Okay."
"I can be your lifelong support, but I hope nothing more that you can live happily."
"Sob sob..."
Crying was heard again from nearby, this time it was clearer and closer.
"Have you found Herry?" Mr. Satan also heard it.
Emily composed herself, "I'm not sure if it's him."
Mr. Satan whispered softly, "Dealing with a spoiled child like him, the most important thing is to make him respect you. Only when he respects you with he listen to what you say and Stop being hostile towards you."
"...I understand."
Ending the call, Emily used her phone to light the way and continued forward towards the direction of the crying.
Soon, she entered the third room of
the haunted house. It was clearly a graveyard. There were many tombstones, and the crying came from inside a corner of one particular tombstone.
Emily cautiously called out, "Herry?"
The crying paused for a moment.
"Is it you?" Emily approached slowly, gradually seeing the corner of Herry's clothes.
It was him.
"Go away, you ugly monster! I don't want you, I want my dad, I want my mom!!!"
Herry swatted away Emily's outstretched hand, crying loudly, "Go away! Get out! It's all because of you! I'm going to tell my dad and have him kill you!"
He looked terrified by the haunted house.
Emily let out a soft sigh and didn't press him further, just standing quietly nearby, waiting for him to finish venting his emotions.
After a while, Herry's crying gradually subsided, and he didn't have the energy to continue sobbing.
He rubbed his eyes, his gaze carrying resentment. "You came here on purpose to laugh at me, didn't you? You must be feeling so smug seeing me scared like this, right?!"
Emily sat down by the wall not far from him, her tone gentle and calm. "Why would I feel smug?"
"Because... because I've been calling you names and I even pushed you towards the ghost to save myself... You must hate me now, don't you?"
Herry's voice grew weaker. "I don't need you, just leave me alone!"
Emily took a deep breath. "Is this how you usually talk to others?"
"That's none of your business!"
"Do you still have the energy to argue with me? Fine, go ahead and keep ranting for a while. When you're too tired to talk, we can chat properly." Herry was infuriated by her response but couldn't do much about it.
He had been stuck here for a long time and couldn't leave on his own. Even if he wanted to go out and complain to his parents, he would have to rely on Emily to get out first.
IMS
Moreover, he had an instinctive feeling that Emily harbored no ill will towards him.
Peeking out from behind the tombstone, he asked cautiously, "Are you really not here to laugh at me?"
Emily gave him a look. "What benefit would I get from laughing at you?"
"I've been bullying you. You should be happy to see me in such a sorry state."
"I'm not that bored."
