Chapter 109 What Do You Mean?

Nathan's expression changed.

Taking advantage of this, Emily turned around and continued searching for an exit.

"Sob sob..."

The crying of a child intermittently echoed. Emily listened carefully for a while but couldn't pinpoint its exact location.

However, Nathan didn't make any inappropriate moves. He stood alone with his arms crossed in the shadows, lost in thought.

Emily couldn't be bothered with him. She could hear the child crying, indicating that Herry shouldn't be far away. If she spoke, Herry should be able to hear her.

"Herry! Can you hear me?"

The crying abruptly stopped.

Emily pondered for a moment, unsure if Herry stopped crying upon hearing her voice.

"Herry? If you hear me, please respond!"

Still, there was no reply.

Emily felt a bit discouraged.

"Perhaps this kid dislikes you. He probably doesn't want to interact with you," Nathan murmured softly. After the blow from Emily just now, he didn't look too good, his face clouded. "Why don't you leave? Let Sophia come in. She's his sister, so he'd be willing to go with her." Emily paused, silent.

She had been worried that Herry would be scared here and wanted to find him quickly. But she hadn't considered that children also have likes and dislikes. Herry didn't like Emily. At the car show, Emily threw his basketball away and had just asked him to apologize. Herry must really dislike her.

Taking a deep breath, Emily said, "Alright, I'll go out and find Sophia."

She headed towards the entrance.

But Nathan quickly caught up.

Frowning, Emily turned back. "Aren't you waiting here for Sophia?"

"No need. I don't want to see her," Nathan replied. "I'll leave with you."

Emily retraced her steps through the narrow passage and saw the bright light at the entrance.

As they stepped outside, it was crowded with people. Today was the weekend, and many people were at the amusement park. Other attractions had long lines of people waiting, but this haunted house had few visitors.

As Emily walked along the path, she overheard people discussing:

"Don't go into that haunted house! I heard many people experience paranormal events inside. There are real ghosts here..."

"How is that possible?"

"Sigh, I've read many posts online. Several people have encountered paranormal events here. It's said you can hear a child crying! It's really creepy!"

"Let's leave quickly."

A few people hurried past the haunted house entrance, heading towards the roller coaster.

Nathan stayed behind her. They walked all the way to the rest area.

Jackson noticed Emily and stood up, waving to her. "Over here!"

Emily smiled and nodded, walking quickly towards him.

Jackson intercepted her, using his body to separate her from Nathan. He frowned deeply. "Why did you come back with Nathan? Did he bully you again?" Emily shook her head and whispered, "It's just a coincidence. He won't dare to do anything excessive today."

"That's good. His father-in-law is here today, so he definitely won't dare to bully you."

Emily asked, "Was the business matter settled?"

Jackson chuckled lightly. "Actually, my brother's purpose was to invite him to our real estate company. But I think he'll go to Reed Group to assist Nathan." Emily nodded. Sophia's only leverage to marry Nathan was Logan Morgan. In any case, he would definitely enter Reed Group.

"Will your brother be angry?"

"Why would he be angry? Actually,

he just sent me to gather information. They all say Logan Morgan is a very talented designer but after chatting with him, I feel his views are outdated. His design style doesn't match my brother's

company. So, I don't feel any regret."

Emily chuckled softly and said nothing.

From Logan Morgan's indulgence towards Herry, it's evident that his mindset is conservative and paranoid. Moreover, he once abandoned woman carrying his child, showing his questionable character. Emily held a strong disdain for Logan Morgan.

"Although Logan Morgan has

backward thinking, his wife is quite formidable. She's very social and scheming. With her help, Sophia will surely succeed in marrying Nathan. You should limit your interactions with them in the future. I'm afraid you'll be bullied by them.

Emily nodded. "I understand. There's no possibility of any relationship with the Reed family anymore."

With Nathan's secret in her grasp, Emily believed he wouldn't dare to bully her again.

"Emily, you're back," Grace also returned, holding a beverage and offering it to Emily. "It's so hot- outside. Have a drink. Herry is quite mischievous. You must be tired. Sit down and rest for a while."

Emily eyed the drink in Grace's hand warily, smiled, and declined, "Thank you, but I'm not thirsty."

"Oh," Grace chuckled awkwardly. "I'm sorry, Emily. I just opened this drink. No one has had any and I didn't put anything in here either.. Isn't that right, dear?"

This remark immediately ignited Logan Morgan's temper. "What do you mean by that? Are you suspecting my wife?"
