Chapter 11 |Wedding|
“Willow, it’s time for the ceremony.” Hope whispered in Willow’s ear
“Already?” she asked sleepily, pushing herself up with her claws
“Yes darling, you must change form.” Her mother told her to shake her shoulder lightly.
“Ok...” Willow answered, getting up. Once she was out of bed she looked around the room, studying every inch until her mother came back in her wings folded close around her body
“Good morning Queen Hope” Willow said bowing her head
“Now dear you are my daughter, Call me mother.” Hope scolded
“Of course Mother,” Willow said sitting down, her shoulders moved back and her tail curled around her front claws. “I have been having some trouble turning human, I was wondering if you could help me,” Willow asked politely
“Close your eyes, focus on a happy memory, and think about turning into a human,” Hope said flatly.
Willow listened and focused on Lunar. She remembered the earring being dropped into her hand, the metal smooth against her scales she remembered the warm smile lunar gave her, slowly she felt herself get smaller, her tail and wings shrinking.
Willow tentatively opened her eye and then the other flew open. Standing in front of the mirror was a beautiful olive-skinned woman, she had broad shoulders and a medium waist, and she was quite skinny. She had chin-length snowy white hair, one lavender eye, and one sea green eye. She was wearing a beautiful black top with sleeves covering her hands, gold and white shorts, silver runners, and Lunar’s earrings hung from her ear.
She had white wings and a rainbow-tipped tail. She turned around to find another woman standing behind her, this woman had bright red eyes, peach white skin, white hair shoulder length, a rose gold crown, and a beautiful long white and gold dress that shimmered in the sunlight.
She too had white wings, but she had a white tail instead.
“Mother!?” someone said, their voice soft and quiet.
“Yes Willow dear,” the woman said, her voice regal and soft. “These are our human forms” Hope said
“Really!?” Willow cried shocked “We look beautiful!”
“Here,” she said extending her hand, holding out a package “This is your wedding dress, all the tribes contributed to this dress to connect our tribe to the tribe we were before”
“The Mundustails...” Willow related.
“That’s correct.” her mother confirmed smiling.
She took the dress from her mother and slowly unzipped the package to reveal a beautiful white wedding dress. Jewels lined the bottom around the dress; each jewel came from one of the tribes.
“It’s all of my colours!” Willow cried happily smiling
“Yes it is dear, All the tribes came together to make this dress including the Midnight alliance,” Hope said smiling. “They were hoping to become one with the world with you and Lunar as the rulers”
Willow was very grateful for this dress, As soon as her mother left she started to put the dress on, the fabric was silky smooth against her skin, despite all the jewels the dress what very light and moved like wind.
She immediately went to the mirror to check out how she looked
“Willow darling, are you finished?” Hope called on the other side of the door.
“Yes, Mother!” Willow called back.
Hope opened the door and gasped
“What is it, mother? Are you alright?” Willow asked.
“Darling! You- you look stunning!” Hope cried. Willow smiled warmly.
“May I add something?” Hope asked
“Sure” Willow replied happily.
“Come sit down,” her mother told her. Willow obeyed sitting back down in front of the mirror. Her mother turned the chair around to face her.
“Close your eyes and relax your face.” Hope ordered. Hope began applying makeup all over willows face making her sneeze when the brush got close to her nose,
“Stay still ok?” Hope said
Willow stayed perfectly still as Hope slipped something over her head and in her ears. Then she began to play around with willows hair brushing it and coming through it. “Open your eyes,” Hope told her. Willow slowly opened her eyes to see her cheeks bright red with blush, gold eyeliner, mascara, bright red lipstick, and black and white eye shadow. Her hair was tied back into a cute tight bun. She was stunned at how she looked like an entirely new person.
Willow noticed the earring Lunar had given her, and a new one, it the same except it had a brown, green tail and a gold, white tail twined together hung from her ears, around her neck was a silver chain with a single dragon.
The dragon was curled up to sleep, her tail wrapped around her side. The dragon had white and gold scales, and a gold heart smaller than her fingertip was engraved on the dragon’s chest.
"Animo!" Willow realised
She turned around to face her mother.
“Thank you, mom,” Willow said, wrapping her hands around her mother’s shoulders.
“Promise me you’ll keep it safe” Hope whispered
“Cross my heart” Willow whispered back.
Hope pulled away and wiped the tears away. They heard a knock on the door
“Come in,” Willow called.
The door opened to reveal a servant, he had a black formal suit on and a flower in his pocket, behind him was Rebecca, in a sunset orange dress that went down to her knees, she was wearing a silver necklace and white and gold earrings, a small smile appeared on her face when she saw Willow
“Miss, The wedding is going to start soon, I advise you to hurry,” the servant said regally
“Thank you sir, Rebecca please come inside,” Willow said, her voice soft.
“You look amazing Willow! Lunar will love this dress.” Rebecca said smiling at her
“Thank you Rebecca,” Willow replied smiling softly
“I think it’s time we get going, You wouldn’t want to be late for your big day” Rebecca said walking out the door.
“Of course” Willow replied, following her out the door.
Once they were in the room Willow started to panic.
“What if she doesn’t come, what if she leaves me! What if-” Rebecca cut
her off-putting her hand on her shoulder
“You’ll be fine, I promise!” she said reassuringly
“You promise?” Willow asked
“I promise,” Rebecca replied.
“Thank you mother, thank you Rebecca” she said hugging the two of them
“It’s the time!” Hope whispered to Willow. Willow took a deep breath and walked out into the light. Willow waited at the altar for Lunar. Willow began to drift off wondering what Lunar looked like, and as if Lunar read her mind she came out from the shadows and started to walk down the aisle.
"She looks stunning...” Willow thought. Lunar had dark vitiligo skin and a long black dress that ended at her feet showing only a glimpse of her black high heels. The seams of the dress were covered in silver, black, and purple jewels. Lunar’s long black hair was curled and danced with the wind as she walked. She had the same earring as Willow did but instead of a green and white dragons, she had a black and silver dragons. Rebecca stood on Lunar’s left, while Hope stood on willows left.
The priest started to talk but everything was a blur. After the party Lunar went to get some fresh air, Willow followed behind her. Lunar looked up and smiled at her wife. Willow sat down beside her, leaning back.
“Willow? How do you think we’re going to solve the problem with Darius?” Lunar asked.
“I don’t know, we’ll figure it out as we go along,” Willow answered.
Willow put her arm around Lunar’s shoulders pulling her closer and in response, Lunar leaned into her shoulder. Stars covered the horizon shining brightly as if to say ‘congrats!’.
Suddenly a bright purple firework went off illuminating the midnight sky and drowning out the stars. The night was bright and beautiful. Rebecca joined the two of them on the cliff.
“I told you everything would be fine,” Rebecca whispered to Willow
“You did,” Willow whispered back, smiling. Willow couldn’t believe her dream had come true, she had the life she always dreamed of she was the happiest dragon on earth as breathed in the soothing mountain air and enjoyed the moment. Little did she know she was very, very, very wrong.
