One Amazing Trip To Garzon

Chapter 4: Working With The Enemy

Neither one of them could believe what Carlyle had just said. He had been so nice to them and so smart that they were sure he would have been able to come up with a great idea to help them get back home. They had really trusted him to think of something and now it was like he had let them down a little bit. Both of them knew if Carlyle would be able to think of a way for them to get back home he would do it, but it was just disappointing to hear him say they pretty much had no chance of returning home. It looked like they should get comfortable on this planet because they might be on it for a long time.

“What exactly do you mean when you say that there is a huge problem for us being able to get back home, we can’t just stay on this planet forever,” said Jason who was very worried that there was no hope for them ever returning back home.

“I mean exactly what I said, there probably isn’t going to be a way where you guys could get back to your planet Earth. I just don’t see how I could take you there,” said Carlyle in a disappointed voice, he wanted to help them out just as badly as they wanted to make it home.

“Hold on a second, there has to be a way for us to get back home. It’s so easy that I can’t believe none of us had thought about it yet. Why don’t we just have you, as Tyler pointed to Carlyle, build a portal or TCD as you guys call it since you are obviously from this planet and then Jason and I can walk through it to make it home. It sounds so easy. Just like that we will be walking in the backyard.”

“Although it may seem easy to do, it would be impossible, so we have to think of a better plan than that,” Carlyle answered back.

“What do you mean it would be impossible to do, you said that if someone is from this planet Garzon they are capable of making a portal,” said a frustrated Tyler.

“Yes I did say that, but there is something else that I said. If you remember correctly I mentioned that somebody who is from the planet Garzon can build a time continuum device. Now for the impossible part, we can only build a TCD if we have already been to that place and because I have never been to your backyard we wouldn’t be able to go there.”

Now Tyler was trying to think of anything he could to get back home. “Have you ever been anywhere else on Earth, we could go there and then Jason and I could take a plane home, or have you been to the moon or any planet close to Earth? Also, can we just find the people who did go to our home on the spaceship and ask if they could take us back there?”

“Unfortunately I have never went anywhere outside the planet Garzon so I can’t take you to a place near your home and I am sorry. As for the people who went to your backyard they would never help you because they are followers of Captain Zirg. There is no point of even asking to see if they would help you because they are dead.”

“They’re dead, how did they die?” asked Jason.

“Captain Zirg found out about the crash and learned that none of them picked up any information about your planet while they were there so he had them killed. I remember hearing about the people that were killed that went to some planet, I just couldn’t remember what planet or where it was they had crashed. It just so happens that it was in your backyard where it all happened at,” said Carlyle.

“So there is no one here who could help us?” asked Jason fearing that he already knew the answer to his question.

“I am afraid not,” replied Carlyle.

This definitely felt like the end of their chanced to make it back home. They were in a world of trouble. They didn’t want to stay here because there would be Captain Zirgs’ followers who would want them dead. They knew that if they were to live here then they would eventually run into one of his followers. They were shorter than everyone else and it wouldn’t be long before they were discovered. Both of them knew that it was probably past seven at home and that their parents were wondering where they were. Just the thought of their parents looking around for them in the woods for such a long time made them sick to their stomachs.

“So Carlyle, since we are most likely going to be here for a long time, I was just wanting to know if people worked here or not and how much they did because I might have to find a job?” asked Jason.

“First lets go ahead and walk to my house and I can tell you guys a story that will explain why I want to help you guys so much.”

“Don’t you think that will be a bad idea walking, someone will surely notice us?” said Jason.

“I live in the building down the street,” as Carlyle pointed to a tall building down the road. “I will make sure that no one is walking down the sidewalk, but all you really have to do is turn around the corner of the alley and then walk for a minute and you’re there.”

So the three of them took the very brisk walk and went through Carlyle’s door.

As the kids walked into the house they realized that it seemed just like an average sized home, about the size of their house in fact. They noticed a lot of things that were different than their house back home. There were a lot of electronic devices that they weren’t sure of and nothing needed to be plugged into an outlet. They looked at what appeared to be a T.V. that was only about five inches.

“They don’t make a T.V. any size bigger here or something?” asked Jason who started to laugh looking at how small it was. “You guys are this technologically advanced and can’t make a bigger size television set.”

“It is just on display mode right now, stand back a bit and I will show you something.”

Carlyle pushed a button on the T.V. and all of a sudden it got bigger and bigger until had turned into at least a 200 inch T.V. that covered the entire side of a wall. “Now are you laughing about how small the T.V. is?” asked Carlyle with a smile on his face.

“No, not anymore,” answered Jason.

“Wow that is really amazing!” said Tyler as he was now looking down at the picture that appeared to be of Carlyle’s family after he watched in amazement as the T.V. went from really small to humongous.

There were three people in the picture, his wife and a baby girl that was already pretty tall but looked as if she was only about two years old, according to Earth time. Which meant that she most likely wasn’t even a year old here on Garzon.

“Are they here?” asked Tyler. “It would be nice to meet the rest of your family.”

“No they’re not here,” said Carlyle as he was looking down at the floor with a frown on his face for quite some time.

“Are they out right now or something?” asked Jason in a concerned voice after he continued to watch Carlyle stare at the floor.

“To be completely honest with you I have no idea where they are,” said Carlyle in a tearful voice. “It was about one hundred days ago when my wife took our child out to buy some new clothes. I haven’t seen either one of them since. I have looked all around this planet and have had no luck at finding them. As much as I want to think and believe that they are alive, I just don’t know. It doesn’t make any since, I have looked everywhere for them but haven’t found them and no one seems to know what happened to them.”

“Don’t worry, we will find them,” said Jason who was very saddened along with Tyler after hearing that story.

“I sure hope so, I miss them so much,” said Carlyle.

As Jason and Tyler looked outside they saw it starting to drizzle. All they could think about right now was going back home and seeing their parents, probably the same way Carlyle wanted to see his family. Seeing Carlyle and how sad he was made them think about how sad their parents would be when they knew they were gone. It looked as if they weren’t going to be able to get back home but as long as they were going to be here they wanted to help Carlyle find his family. Then Jason thought of something that made him start to smile just a little bit.

“Hey Tyler, I think we might be able to see our parents after all! You know how we went through the TCD and landed here, if our parents go out in the woods and find it, then they will be able to go through it. We might have to spend the rest of our lives here, but at least we will get to see our parents!”

Carlyle broke in and ended their happiness. “I am really sorry to say this, but I don’t think that is going to be possible.

“What do you mean, they could get here the same way that we did,” said Tyler. “I know that they will go in the woods to look for us and when they see the TCD there is a chance they might go through it.”

“You see, a TCD is actually smarter than you would think, unfortunately for you guys. Whenever someone goes through a TCD that isn’t able to make one and isn’t from the planet Garzon, then it automatically closes up after a few minutes, not allowing any other intruders through.”

“Why would it be created like that? I don’t understand it at all,” said Jason who felt as if he were a balloon and someone had just stuck a needle in him at that moment.

“The whole reason for creating it that way is simple. They don’t want someone being able to go through the TCD and end up here on the planet Garzon and then being able to go back home. If that were the case then they could show anyone it, and who knows how many people would go in and out of it. They didn’t want millions of people going through it and disrupting our planet. I know it sounds really rough in your case because you just want to get back home, but that is just the way it has to be. It protects the safety of all the people here on our planet.”

Jason and Tyler were now stuck. If that idea wasn’t going to work, they were positive that there was no way to make it out now or to see their parents again. All this time they felt in the back of their mind that there was still maybe some hope of getting out of here or having a one in a million chance of seeing their parents on this planet but now it seemed all was lost.

“So how do you know everything about, well everything?” asked Jason, who couldn’t think of anything else to ask and feeling hopeless about his chances of making it home.

“There is one more story that I would like to tell you guys,” said Carlyle. “It is about when I actually worked close with Captain Zirg.”

“You used to work with Captain Zirg?” asked Jason as he was shocked to hear this news.

“Yes. I was about six at the time, which for you guys would have been someone just starting out on a job when they are about twenty five. At the time I was looking everywhere for a job and struggled to find one. I had heard about how Zirg treated people but at the time it didn’t matter to me because I needed the money. I was just married and needed to find a way to make some money so we would have a nice place to raise our family. We decided to wait a long time before having a child and we finally chose to have one last year. One day I happened to walk by the place that is known as CSZA, which was short for Captain Zirgs’ spaceship academy. That was something that interested me and shortly thereafter I was hired to help work on spaceships. I worked there for a couple of years which is quite a long time here until one day my life changed. Things were going pretty smoothly up until my last day. I hardly ever saw Captain Zirg which was a great thing and I was very good and enjoyed building the spaceships. We had been working on a spaceship for quite a long time which this particular one was shaped like a plane. It was really ironic when you guys said you were from the planet Earth because that plane was headed towards London to check out the area for some building ideas.”

“We have heard about London and seen some of the buildings on T.V., but we of course have never been there,” Jason chimed in.

Carlyle continued with his story. “I never got to ride on any spaceship but the one we had built took us a long time and four other people who worked there were selected to go to London. As they went a similar thing to what happened in your backyard occurred. The plane crashed. This time it crashed in an open field where there were a lot of witnesses. Now to the people of London it looked just like a regular plane crash however that isn’t how Captain Zirg and the people on the spaceship looked at it. Captain Zirg had ordered them to kill anyone who had seen them in case of an emergency and that is exactly what they did. Those people had to have killed over 300 innocent civilians that night. The reason they did this is they knew that if they didn’t kill all of those civilians that when they got back Captain Zirg would have killed them himself. As soon as I heard about the story of all the innocent people dying I went straight up to Captain Zirg and told him that I was going to quit. There was no way that I would want to be in the situation the others were in, especially when I was scheduled to be on the next spaceship to a planet named Plerizian. Just thinking that I might end up being in a similar situation as the others gave me chills so I had to get out of there. Captain Zirg didn’t like people who quit from his place and he tried killing me. Losing me meant that they would have to try and find someone as skilled at making spaceships as I was, which wouldn’t be an easy task since a lot of people refused to work for him. Although it wouldn’t help much if he did kill me because that wouldn’t bring someone to work for him but he didn’t care. He was the craziest person I ever met. I barely escaped that night alive and promised to never go back there for the rest of my life.”

Both Tyler and Jason couldn’t believe that Carlyle had worked so closely to Captain Zirg. They were somewhat interested in how Carlyle had managed to escape from the place alive but neither one of them really wanted to ask him the question so they just let it go.

There were a couple moments of silence where no one talked for about ten minutes until Carlyle chimed in.

“I think that there is a slight chance that you guys will be able to make it back home,” he said.

“Are you serious?!” both Tyler and Jason said together excited about hearing this great news.

“It isn’t going to be an easy task and I have to say that there is a good chance that not everyone will live through it, but it is your only hope if you really want to make it home.”

Jason and Tyler looked at each other concerned about what the outcome could have in store but both were wanting to go home so badly that they had to take a chance on anything that might happen.

“Okay, let’s go for it!” they said together.
