Odarin the Good Wizard

Chapter 4.

The morning is as assured as the tides and just as unstoppable. Odarin needed some more time in the darkness, not to sleep, but to pour out all his ideas onto a page, reorganise, prioritise and pack them back in his travel robes again. From his bed he could see his disorganised room with unwashed robes, spell books open and all over the floor and a door stop that he tripped over at once maybe twice a day sitting in amongst the dust. He was not a good house keeper and hated using magic to clean things because the magic put his things away and then he could never find anything again.

All to soon there would be sunlight bursting into his room, the streets outside would be full of traffic noise coupled with the smell of his neighbours and former classmates making coffee and toast in the air. His alarm clock had not been re-set so it would be telling him to get his ass off to school and sure enough...off it sounded. But he had graduated and now could afford to sleep in a bit longer before he commenced his operation beautification.

Authors Note: Toilet, Shower, Shave and Brush his teeth. We all do it..and usually it’s just called ‘Waking Up’, Odarin had just given it this fancy name to make it easier to cope with...especially if he was running late for class.

Operation Beautification sounds more important wouldn’t you agree?

Odarin silenced the alarm clock and as soon as he waved his fingers at the clock and it stopped he decided there and then to break free. Today there was a plan in place and as he went through his morning rituals for the Operation Beautification he added more to the plan as he went. The script for his new life was being made as he accomplished all he had to do to just bath, brush ( Hair & Teeth...but not with the same brush ) and dress himself for the rest of the day.

It did not take him long to craft this new script as it had been 7 years in the making while attending Wizard School and today was the day he made his plan come to fruition. It was time to sell the house, sell his stuff ( except for a few pieces he wanted to keep with him), then hit the frog and toad, ( wizard talk for ROAD ) and take in all that life had to surprise him with.

Sounded like a good plan!

Odarin placed an enchantment on his house to make it clean itself for immediate sale, gathered a few worthy novels to read, one spare robe with matching undergarments, his staff and wand then set about reading a detailed map of where to go and what to explore...taking notes in a book that he would keep with him always under any circumstance to refer to if in the unlikely event...he got lost.

He would use the stars as his compass, the changing seasons as his reason to leave where ever he was and by the end of the day he had sold his home, three quarters of his beloved ‘stuff’ and the rest he donated to a friend who had his own shop dedicated to the selling of really interesting stuff that Odarin oftened bought from in the past.

As he lay down at night on his favourite pillow and was about to close his eyes for the last time on it he said goodbye to his house very quietly as he drifted off to dreamland.

Tomorrow he was off on an adventure that would last almost all of his life.

Authors Note: ....and yes he packed a razor to shave with and his toothbrush but lost his razor in a rock climbing mishap in Chapter 10.....but let’s not jump the gun shall we....let’s crack on!!!
