Chapter 680
Chapter 680
Perhaps when that day arrived, she would meet a terrible demir.
Lynette’s heart trembled at the thought of that possibility. However, now that she had embarked down this path, there was no
turning back.
No matter what, she had to cling to Lucas firmly. As long as he didn’t discover the truth, she would continue to have someone as
strong as him backing her up!
Jackson brought Serenity to the detention center, where they met Yuri Volkov,
He appeared to be a slightly overweight man in his 40s. To her, he was a complete stranger.
A stranger he may be, but he had caused her so much misery!
If it weren’t for him, she would not have had to spend three years behind bars and endure so much agony. She would have still
been an attorney with a bright future, pursuing a career that she had fought touth and nail for!
Serenity thought that she would never be able to see this man even when she arrived at the courthouse. After all, he had run off
to some foreign land.
To her surprise, here he was, sitting in the detention center.
When Yurt caught sight of Jackson and Serenity, his face was immediately stricken with fear. He got up and groveled
desperately at her feet. “Ms. Lewis, I’m sorry! I was the one who hurt you! I’m willing to accept whatever punishment the judge
decides to give me, so please forgive me!”
Serenity stared down at the man with a surprised look.
She wondered if he even felt remotely guilty when he used her as a scapegoat back then. His decision had altered her life yet
here he was on his knees, begging for her forgiveness.
Serenity unconsciously took a few steps back, clearly indicating her refusal to accept his apology.
Jackson wrapped his arm around her waist “What’s the matter?”
“I... I need to get some fresh air. This place is making me sick.”
Her facial expression was terrible at the moment.
“Sure,” he replied before accompanying her out of the room.
It wasn’t until they walked over to a tree in an open space that Serenity took a few deep breaths. She never expected to react
This way when she finally found the perpetrator.
What’s more, she originally came with the intention of asking Yuri a few questions. However, the moment she saw him kneeling
before her, she struggled to bring the words to her mouth.
At that moment, all she could feel was disgust.
How could someone possibly possess such a despicable personality? To cover himself, he was willing to resort to tricks and
underhanded tactics that ruined a person’s life. Now that he was finally brought to justice, how dare he ask her for forgiveness?!
Forgiveness?! Preposterous!
What, did he expect she would forgive him like that? Just because he had gotten on his knees? Just because he had
apologized?!
How could that man utter such words so easily?!
“Are you feeling better?” asked Jackson.
“Much better.”
“I thought you’ve always wanted to meet him? Why did you storm out so quickly?”
“I just think it’s absurd that he expects forgiveness despite the things he had done. The only person in this world who forgive him
must be a saint!”
