Chapter 14. Myth: Phoenix

Is a long-lived bird that cyclically regenerates or otherwise born again. Is associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by rising from the ashes of its predecessor. Some legends say it dies in a show of flames and combustion, others that it simply dies and decomposes before being born again. Most say it lives roughly 500 years before rebirth.

Can symbolize renewal in general. A phoenix is generally believed to be colorful and vibrant, but there’s no clear consensus about its coloration.
