Chapter 15 Unexpected Events
It was three o'clock in the morning.
Just then, the door slammed open with a thud.
"Lillianna!" Suddenly, a threatening voice rang out.
The lights in the room then flashed on.
Lillianna, who had been soundly asleep, was taken aback. She rubbed her eyes before turning to face the intruder. "Dad?" she mumbled, frowning slightly.
"Pa!" Without mercy, a harsh slap landed on her cheek.
Lillianna was stunned. She subconsciously covered her stricken face in shock.
"Don't get upset, honey. Relax and take it easy. Let's talk about it." Madeleine rushed up to Bailey and consoled him.
"Dad, why did you hit me? What did I do wrong?" Lillianna was enraged by the sudden slap. After all, she had never been hit before.
"Take a look at what you've done!" Bailey flung a photo at her, pacing back and forth in annoyance.
In the photo, Lillianna was seen posing naked and disgustingly with a male model.
Terror seized her at that moment.
"How could it be?" Lillianna's hand began to tremble." Could it be because I hung up on him today? Did he decide to take revenge on me?" "Videos of you are all over the Internet now! What have you done?" Bailey was fuming with rage.
"Honey, don't be angry. Lillianna is still very young." Madeleine said."
"She's twenty years old! How is that young?" Bailey yelled as he pointed towards Lillianna.
"Dad" Lillianna raised her eyes to him and got out of bed. She knelt before him and cried, "Please, Dad, help me!"
"Oh, so now you've remembered to seek help?" Bailey crossed his arms.
"Dad, I was wrong. I won't do it again. Please help me!" Lillianna's eyes welled up with tears.
"What should we do, dear? If the Garrisons find out about this, the engagement may be off."
Madeleine asked while glaring at Lillianna. What a bummer!
"No! I don't want to be separated from him! Dad, do something about it! Please!" Lillianna grabbed the hem of Bailey's coat and cried loudly. "Dad, please, I'm begging you!" Bailey glared at her. "Get to your feet! The press conference is in four hours!"
Seven o'clock sharp.
Bailey held a press conference at the Essence Hotel.
Lewd photos and videos of Lillianna were leaked at midnight, shocking the entire South City.
As a result, the reporters were all keen to attend the press conference, as though they were expecting a good show. They were all curious to hear how the Carters would explain it. Everyone was wondering if the Garrisons would call off the engagement.
"Everyone, please calm down." Bailey took center stage and used a microphone to signal the crowd to remain quiet.
"Mr. Carter, is the video of your daughter and that model real?"
"Mr. Carter, have the Garrisons contacted you?"
"Mr. Carter, will tomorrow's engagement be held as usual?"
Like cannonballs, the questions rained down one after the other.
"Ms. Carter, that's you in the video, isn't it? I didn't think you'd be that naughty." A male reporter chuckled into his microphone."
"Sir, would you please shut your mouth?" Madeleine abruptly stood up and added, "Lillianna is not that kind of person!"
"What do you mean? Clearly, the woman in the video is her." The male reporter began to argue.
Meanwhile, Lillianna sobbed bitterly on the stage. Still, she looked amazing, even if it was a close-up shot.
"Everyone, please remain calm. We, the Carters, will not deny the existence of this video. The woman in the video is, without a doubt, my daughter!" Bailey made a loud announcement. Within seconds, the crowd fell silent.
Did he just admit it?
Everyone had expected Bailey to come up with a slew of excuses.
He'd argued that the woman in the video simply looked like Lillianna, for example. However, they didn't think he'd just acknowledge it like that!
"She is my daughter," Bailey continued, "but she is not Lillianna."
"Mr. Carter, what do you mean? What exactly do you mean when you say she isn't Ms. Carter?" One reporter raised his hand in question. Bailey coughed over the microphone and yelled, "Get over here quick!" in a chilly tone.
Everyone frowned, feeling somewhat confused.
Just then, a young girl walked in from behind the door.
She walked straight to the center of the stage, wearing branded clothes and heavy makeup on her face. Her face lacked expression.
Everyone in the room gasped loudly.
Wasn't that Lillianna?
Who was that on the stage, then?
