Chapter 2336
"That's enough." Jordan was not in the mood to listen. He raised his hand and spoke to the man in the suit. "As I said, I'll give you full responsibility for this place. I want to see satisfactory results as soon as
possible."
"Yes, sir." The man in the suit nodded respectfully.
I still wanted to see more, but Jordan was not willing to stay any longer. He pulled me out, quickly driving away.
It was not until the village was far behind the car that Jordan opened the window, letting out a sigh of relief. With one hand holding the steering wheel and the other casually resting on the window, he commented on Emily's way of doing things. "She failed. This whole village is such a failure. How can we ever develop in a place like this? It's no wonder the domestic market has been so poor. Women are so short-sighted."
Judging from the way he spoke and how he kept mentioning the development and the market, those who didn't know the truth would think he was doing conventional business with a bright future ahead of him. Dissatisfied with the patrol that lasted less than a minute and knowing he would scold me, I replied to him, "That last part was for me, isn't it?"
It was only then that Jordan processed my words. He glanced at me, adjusting his posture as he explained stiffly, "You are different from those women."
"What difference is there? The difference is that I used to be someone else's woman while the other women you have been with aren't. What does that make you? The perfect gentleman?"
He would sometimes forget he was a neat freak when he was impulsive. However, I had to make him remember it in his bones lest I suffer the pain of biting my tongue once again.
Hearing this, Jordan immediately became expressionless, and even sounded mad. "You'd better not cause trouble for no reason."
"So it's me who's causing trouble?" I argued, "Who was the one who dragged me out on a long drive to have a casual look? I should be the one saying that. I do not need to put on such an act." After that, he turned his face aside, not intending to argue anymore.
After a moment, Jordan opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but he didn't say anything in the end.
It was already three o'clock in the morning when we returned to the villa on the top of the mountain.
Pushing the door open, I casually kicked off my shoes, walking barefoot on the cold floor. As a result, I shivered from the cold.
"Stop!" Behind me, Jordan had no choice but to speak
"What else do you want?" I stopped where I was, but I didn't look back. If I wanted to feign anger, I had to look the part.
Jordan didn't answer. Instead, I heard a rustling sound, then I felt him approaching me.
"Raise your feet." Jordan's voice came from below.
Looking down, I saw him on one
knee before me, holding a pair of et
cotton slippers. Tentatively touching my toes, he said, "The floor is cold, so put this on."
"No thanks." I raised my chin stubbornly, not giving him any face.
My legs gave away as he forcefully lifted one of my legs. The moment my foot was in the air, he slipped the cotton slippers on for me, and it was the same for my other foot.
After doing all this, Jordan got up unhurriedly. Looking at me calmly he said half- jokingly, "You've been angry for two hours already. Aren't you tired?"
