Chapter 2335
Jordan was not annoyed at all. He got up and to the bathroom to fix his appearance, saying, "I just took over the field from Emily, and I thought you would be interested."
"Are you bringing me on patrol?" I turned my head to look at him. Even if I couldn't get the data on the computer, this didn't seem like a bad consolation prize.
However, patrols of this kind were similar to the inspections when doing business. They only brought the people closest to them. It seemed that my place in Jordan's heart had risen to a higher level. Thinking about it, I got up and went into the bedroom before Jordan could answer. Picking up the clothes on the bed, I hid under the quilt and quickly changed.
Jordan's bedroom had an open concept. There was only a door frame between the living room and the bedroom with no other obstacles.
After changing my clothes, I got out of the quilt. Looking at my messy hair, I planned to use the bathroom mirror that Jordan was using. Fortunately, Jordan was already sitting on the sofa and waiting, so it saved me from getting into an unnecessary argument.
When I was ready, I got into Jordan's car. After a day of rest, I finally left this desolate wasteland.
Jordan didn't bring the computer with him. Anyone who broke in could steal his data. Unfortunately, I didn't have a mobile phone, so I couldn't contact anyone. I could only watch this opportunity go by. Based on what I saw on TV shows, I thought that the field that Jordan mentioned must be in a place teeming with life. After that, it was easier to make secret dealings within the dazzling lights and noisy music. However, when he drove into a shabby village, I realized that I might have poor knowledge about reality.
The village was small, and there was only one way in. It could barely accommodate the size of Jordan's large car However, the narrow path extended in all directions. There would be an alley every few steps. I saw children in plain clothes playing there, but soon, they disappeared out of my sight.
Some older children chased after our car. Perhaps it had been a long time since they saw such a luxury car entering the village.
When the car couldn't drive any further, Jordan got
out of the car and walked in with me.
Not long after, we entered a simple wooden shed. There were many people inside, some were sellers, and some were carrying goods. Without exception, they were all dressed in shabby clothes, giving off the feeling that they had not eaten in a long time.
Jordan's reaction was almost the
same as mine. When he got a whiff
mine
of the villager's scent, he took a handkerchief from his pocket, covering his mouth and nose with it. Frowning, he said irritably, "Maybe I should have come and saved this place earlier."
He thought that his factory was a masterpiece and that drug trafficking was an art.
"Mr. Marshall." A man in a suit greeted us. He should be the only one under Jordan.
Jordan's brows were still tightly furrowed. He was distressed to be in an area filled with commoners.
At this time, the man in the suit explained the transaction's process.
"This is the gathering place for the entire village. The village chief is responsible for the connections, while the other villagers are responsible for transporting goods according to the requirements. The situation in the village is complicated. With the help of the villagers, buyers can get off the hook
easier. If someone were to make a
report or find any evidence, the
whole village would stand up
together. So it would be hard to catch anyone unless they get rid of
the entire village altogether."
Emily had thought everything through by coming up with this domino effect. She used the loopholes of the law to prevent them from being arrested.
