My Orphan Mate

Chapter Chapter Twenty-Four

ALEXANDER

"The Wolf boy won't st-," Adam started saying as soon as his eyes landed on me, but his sentence cut off when I spared him no time. "Alpha?"

Ignoring the young Wolf, I darted toward the underground prison. The closer that I got to the enemy, the angrier I felt.

My Wolf was ready to shred the trio to pieces.

"What is going on?" I faintly heard the girl in the cell ask, shrinking closer to the boy she always seemed cuddled up with.

I paid no attention to her, instead snarled at Gabriel's younger brother. The guard swiftly opened the cell door and I lunged myself at the boy.

My fist connected with his jaw immediately, making the boy stumble a few steps back.

"What the fuck?" he hissed, standing up straight again.

"Tell me where she is," I demanded, stepping closer to him.

Jaxon scoffed. "You have me locked in here and expect me to know the whereabouts of your mate? Shouldn't you already know where she is?"

The sound of my knuckles connecting with the boy's mandible for a second time satisfied my Wolf.

"She was fine before I allowed her to come down here and speak with you!"

"Hit me one more time, I fucking dare you," Jaxon challenged, spitting out the bloody content in his mouth.

"I will do more than just hit you, pup," I warned.

My Wolf was at bay, and I was going to tear the boy to shreds as a matter of time.

"I can see why she would run away from you," the boy said, chuckling softly.

His words tugged at my last nerve, and before I could think twice, I had him cornered up and pulled up against the wall.

My fingers tightened around his neck, cutting off the oxygen supply to the boy. He appeared panicked, as he should.

"Please, stop," the girls' voice rang in my ears, but that caused for my Wolf to growl even louder.

He wanted his mate, and I wanted Lyra. Not for a second did I believe that the trio had no knowledge of my mate's location.

"She's back in Pale Moon," the third Wolf muttered, coughing as he spoke.

Glaring at him over my shoulder, I eyed him with hard eyes, wondering if I could trust the enemy.

The boy swallowed hard, but kept his gaze down. "Alpha Gabriel has her."

I arched a brow, not believing him. There was no way my mate would reject me for Gabriel.

The thoughts running through my head served to confuse me.

My grip on Jaxon dropped, causing the boy to fall to the ground unexpectedly.

"Why would Alpha Gabriel have her?" the girl in the cell asked the same question that I was curious about.

Jaxon turned to me. "I don't care if you see me as the enemy right now, Lyra is important to both of us, evidently," he told me, his eyes black. "If you can't let me leave then at least go after her."

My eyes narrowed at him. Either he thought I was stupid, or he didn't have a very good relationship with his brother.

"You do not tell me what to do, pup," I warned him. "I do not trust your little friend over there."

"He's not lying," the girl argued, making me arch a brow at her. "Matteo— he's my mate. He has a gift that allows him to locate others."

I glanced over at the weak boy, before turning my gaze back to the girl.

"Lyra is our family. We would never do anything or put her in a position where she could get hurt," the girl continued saying with pleading eyes.

"Alpha Gabriel isn't good for her, he never has been. And now, he wants to take her forcefully. It makes no sense."

Something stirred inside of me as the words that exited her mouth registered in my mind.

He wants to take her forcefully.

"Repeat what you just said," I demanded, hoping I had heard her wrong.

The girl glanced at me with panicked eyes. "She's our family, we wouldn-"

"Not that part!" I snapped, cutting her off. "What do you mean Gabriel is taking her by force?"

Even the words sounded absurd. She was mated to him. That was what I had been confused about, her having two mates.

"Gabriel wants to make Lyra his Luna, but they aren't destined for each other. Why do you look so confused? Aren't you already aware of this?"

At her words, the growl erupting from my chest echoed throughout the underground. It was enough to make the trio back down.

I hadn't growled that loudly since my father had passed away. To say I was furious, would be an understatement.

Of course, being destined to two mates was not possible. I should have known that.

It was in Wolf nature to have one soulmate, and she was mine.

Only mine.

But she was with him, with my enemy.

Why hadn't she told me this? I was confused.

'Dyami.'

The boy arrived to the cell in less than two seconds at my call and nodded his head once.

"We are going to Pale Moon," I told him loud, making my way to exit the cell.

Before I could step too far, a hand grabbed mine, making me glance down at the owner.

Dyami stepped forward, growling, but I held my hand up to stop him before he could do anything.

"Let me go with you," the girl pleaded. "She needs one of us with her right now. You can kill me if I do anything out of the ordinary. Please."

I was about to snatch my arm from hers and argue with her, but the innocence in her eyes stopped me.

It took one nod from me for her to drop her hand on mine. "For my mate," I told her and began to exit the cell.

A few minutes later and the girl was following closely behind.

"What's your plan?" Dyami asked by my side.

"We will use the pup to pass through their territory," I told him, but my gaze remained on the girl. "What is your name?"

Her brown eyes lit up. "Ava," she responded.

"Well, Ava. One wrong move and you will find yourself without a head. Is that understood?"

The girl, Ava, glanced at me in a panic, but simply nodded before turning her gaze away.

I couldn't trust her, but gave her the benefit of the doubt for my mate.

If she was lying, I would kill her.

Once Adam had joined us and I had warned all the guards, including Maximus, to protect the pack religiously and decline anybody from entering my territory during my absence, we headed for Pale Moon.

I hated the thought of leaving my pack under the supervision of my fighters.

Although, they were the best fighters, it concerned me to know my pack was without their Alpha.

"We're almost there," Dyami told me, bringing me out of my trance.

Using Ava to distract the guard, the three of us entered Pale Moon swiftly. Whether Lyra had returned back to Gabriel, or if he had taken her by force, I didn't deem it necessary to ask for permission to enter the loser's territory.

The sun was starting to rise, and that worried me.

Was my mate alright if Gabriel had taken her?

My mind was running on every possible thought and I got more angry by the second. I hated everything about this pack.

When I felt a pull towards my mate, I began to head in that direction.

The trio followed quickly after. Dyami walked by my side, guarding our surrounding with his eyes.

The further that I walked, the stronger the pull became.

My Wolf urged for us to find our mate quickly, but I had to remain patient for the safety of Lyra.

"Xander."

Dyami's voice made me turn to him. The boy's eyes were narrowed, his glance ahead in the distance.

Before my eyes could follow the direction of his, Gabriel's voice like venom to my ears, echoed in through the trees. "I'm taking her to the pack doctor!"

"You are not taking her anywhere! Release her. Now!" Dyami snarled, he had beat me to it.

My eyes raked over the crowd, until they landed on my mate.

In Gabriel's arms.

My Wolf growled loudly, and when Lyra was dumped to the ground, I sprinted forward fast.

The only thing on my mind was; shedding Gabriel's blood and nothing was going to get in the way of that.
