Chapter 836
Logan said indifferently, “Nothing worth watching.”
Chadwick’s information had only led them this far. Keeping watch tested anyone’s patience, but Logan was always patient. He
worried that Esther might not share the same level of patience.
“Fine, you watch.”
Esther took a seat. She wasn’t in a hurry, believing that Logan would soon brief her on the case details.
Not long after Esther sat down, Logan suddenly grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her out of the room. “We’re heading out!”
They headed to the garage and saw a few men with tattoos getting into cars, joking around.
“Car key.”
Esther tossed the car key into Logan’s hands, and they got into the car.
Logan started the car and followed the BMW in front.
“I’ve been watching them for a week. They’ve been staying in the room the whole time, ordering takeout. Today is the first time
they’ve left,” Logan briefly explained the situation.
Esther quickly understood and asked, “Are they heading to a meeting?”
“It’s possible.”
While driving, Logan fixed his eyes on Esther and reminded her, “If you notice anything suspicious later, stay calm and don’t
panic.”
“Understood.”
Logan continued. “If they notice us, do you know what to do?”
“I do.”
The car that Logan was driving was Esther’s car, which she had taken from the Sandersons. It was expensive, and its color was
quite flashy. In fact, using such a car for tracking would typically be too conspicuous.
The BMW and the sports car turned into a gas station. Logan told Esther, “Go buy me a pack of cigarettes.”
“Sure.” Esther opened the car door and got out. She went to buy cigarettes, unflinching even when she felt the gaze of the
person they were tracking.
“Cigarettes.” Esther handed the pack of cigarettes to Logan.
Logan looked at the logo on the cigarette pack.
“Hey—”
Just as Logan was about to start the car, a man got out of the BMW. Logan and Esther both felt their hearts rise to their throats.
“Hey, man, how much did you pay for this car?”
Logan turned around and asked, “He’s asking you.”
“It’s not my car. My friend lent it to me.” Esther was telling the truth. She didn’t know whether the man wanted to know the car’s
value or if he was just trying to start a conversation.
“With a car like this, your friend just lent it to you?”
Esther retorted, “Any issues with that?”
Logan laughed awkwardly and said, “Miss Rich Kid has quite the temper.”
“Hey, buddy, you’re living the good life,” the man teased before returning to the BMW.
“Did we get made?” Esther asked, concerned.
Logan said coldly, “At the intersection ahead, you drive, and I’ll get out of the car.”
“Huh?” Esther hesitated for a moment and then suddenly understood. “You mean we’ll pretend to argue to cover our real
intentions?”
