My Husband Wants Me Dead novel (Esther and Bradley)

Chapter 835

Esther drove to the location provided by Gabriel and parked her car at the bustling motel’s entrance. She walked in, feeling quite
familiar with the place.
She stood in front of a room at the end of the corridor and gently knocked on the door. Gabriel opened it, and Esther entered.
“Grandpa Gabriel,” she greeted.
Gabriel slightly raised his chin and nodded toward a young, handsome man looking into the distance through binoculars.
“Logan Foster, International Criminal Police.”
Logan, who stood at 1.8 meters tall, was dressed in a simple T-shirt and jeans. Despite the loose-fitting T-shirt, Esther could still
see his well-defined eight-pack abs and an attractive V-shaped line on his lower abdomen. Most importantly, Logan had a superb
physique, clearly someone who had been working out regularly.
“Logan, this is Esther, my choice for your partner,” Gabriel introduced.
Logan looked at Esther disdainfully as she was dressed to impress and remarked, “She seems too delicate.”
Before Esther arrived, Gabriel had showered her with praises, and now Logan couldn’t help but wonder if Gabriel’s assessment
was accurate. How could a woman so pretty be his partner?
“Delicate?” Esther walked to Logan’s side and sneered. “Wanna try?”
Logan reminded her coldly, “If you’re up for a fight, we’d better catch the suspect as soon as possible!”
“Catch who?” Esther asked.
Logan turned to Gabriel and asked, “Why doesn’t she know anything?”
Gabriel hadn’t originally planned to involve Esther in this case. It was mainly because he had just received news that Bradley
was going to the Sandersons tonight. Esther would certainly be there since it was Jacob’s 10th birthday celebration. If the two of
them happened to meet, it would be troublesome.
“She is a newcomer and doesn’t know yet,” Gabriel explained.
Logan picked up a sandwich and tore open the wrapper in a rough manner with his teeth.

“Take her away. I can handle this on my own,” Logan insisted.
Gabriel swatted Logan and said, “Logan, I know you’re good, but sometimes having a partner can save us a lot of trouble. The
man Chadwick disclosed is particularly important. Do you understand?”
“Then don’t get me a vase to slow me down,” Logan grumbled.
Gabriel wanted to say that Esther wasn’t a vase. He thought that she might follow her father’s career path and become a police
officer if drug traffickers hadn’t targeted her father.
“She’s not one. Logan, I taught you to respect others—”
Esther interjected, seeing that Gabriel was getting angry, “It’s fine, Grandpa Gabriel. He’s complimenting me!”
Logan was rendered speechless.
Esther knew that she did appear as someone who might hinder the team. It was understandable for Logan to have reservations.
She wasn’t a child who would hold grudges over his words.
“Partners need time to get used to each other. If Logan thinks I’m not suitable, he can request a partner change at any time,” she
reassured.
Gabriel took out a hat and put it on. He told Esther, “If you have any questions, just ask Logan or call me. Stay safe.”
“Alright,” Esther replied.
Esther watched Gabriel leave. She realized that her outfit wouldn’t be very convenient for a real mission, so she picked up her
travel bag and headed for the bathroom.
Two minutes later, the dolled-up girl transformed into an easygoing and capable woman. She now appeared to be wearing
matching outfits with Logan.
Esther tied her hair into a ponytail using a hairband and put on a light blue denim shirt, considering the chilly air conditioning.
“Leave it to me.”
