I can’t believe Ash almost became a rogue. He was ready to cut all his bonds with the pack! What was he thinking! I mean he can’t do that! He went for a run wanted to clean his head. Hopefully, he will come back to his sense. After an hour and a half later, he is finally back.

“Do you feel better?” I ask and when he nods I slap his arm.

“OUCH! Why did I do?” He protests.

“You lost your mind. You almost leave your pack!”

“So what?”

“So what!? What were you thinking? No, you weren’t thinking that impossible.” I reply exasperated.

“It’s not as if I will become a rogue. There is our other pack.” He shrugs.

“I don’t know how can say that.”

“I have nothing left here. No position, no mate... Why should I stay?” He is annoyed too now.

“What about your family or your studies?”

“We can study online and I need time far from here. I need to move on.”

“What about me?” I ask him,

" You would have followed me.” He replies as if it was obvious.

When I don’t answer, he adds: “ You would, wouldn’t you?”

"And uhm ..."

" You have no reason to stay here, no family, no friends... So why are you hesitating? It can’t be your mate, as you told so many times that Ezra is not yours.” He asks, suspicious.

“I said I can’t have a mate!”

“I know that but you never really deny Ezra is your mate, never.” He says and I sigh annoyed. Suddenly his eyes become glossy someone is mind linking him and it’s not good news as I see him tense.

“We are under attack go with the untrained pups and Luna Charlize!” He orders me.

I nod and hug him: “Be careful and come back safe!”

“Oh I will, this discussion is not over!” He replies before running out of the packhouse.

My protection spells around the pack are not working as I was too weak to maintain it and as I’m still recovering, I’m trying to not use my magic too much. Also Ezra kind of order me to not use my magic on his pack.

In a few minutes, I’m in the safe room with Luna Charlize, Ash’s parents, Clint, and the ones who can’t fight. Luna Charlize is a good leader but she hates fighting. This is why she is here with us. She doesn’t train often and she will be a too big distraction for Alpha Elijah and his wolf.

Everything is quiet and even if I can feel that the people here have total trust in the pack there is still worried in the air. Worries for the loved ones. There is something more in the air... I just can't put my finger on it. I smell something, I think... A light smell of wolfbane. That’s inhibiting our wolves, preventing us to shift into our wolf’s skin and cut all the mind links. Someone is diffusing wolfbane's gas through the ventilation system.

"Crap!" Luna Charlize says.

“What going on?” I heard Elliot asked scared.

“When you can’t take the head’s pack, you take the heart!” Sage mutters.

Yeah, we are in deep shit. Not only we are under attack and we can’t mindlink anyone nor shift but also they knew where and how which means we have at last a traitor.

“I can shut the aeration system with your help.” I tell them.

“How?” Sage asks.

“Give me your hand and picture the control panel." I reply and he gives me his hands and focuses on the panel. I can see it through his mind and I'm able to turn it off.

"Thank you Lana but only win some time and we can't still mindlink anyone." Luna Charlize comments.

"Yeah... And diffusing wolfbane they're either waiting for us to come out or they're waiting for us to blackout before attacking." Sage comments

"We are 73 people here, can you create a portal to evacuate everybody?" Luna Charlize asks me.

I shook my head: " I don't have enough energy right now and they might attack while we're evacuating."

"Then what choice do we have?" Luna Charlize says exasperated.

"We send someone for help and we fight!" Sage replies.

"In human form!" Luna Charlize says.

"It's not like we have the choice." Sage reply.

I see him looking at Mathilda and Clint. Mathilda nods, ready to die to protect our Luna. Clint is shaking out of fear. I take his hands and tell him:

"You're the faster runner in human form that I know. I will open a portal close to the mirror lake, you should be close to the battlefield but far enough to arrive safely. Go get some help!"

He nods not able to speak. I look at Luna Charlize and add:” Go through the portal, you will be safe. I will gain times.”

“No, I stay!” She replies.

“But you’re their target.” I protest.

“I will not leave! We are over 73 people here including my son, I will give me life to protect them.” She says, whispering the last sentence to be not heard by Elliot.

Stubborn Luna! I don’t want Asher to lose his family, he’s too young for that. But I also know she is acting like the Luna she is.

"We need to attack first to protect the people here." She adds looking at Sage who is nodding.

"Fine! In this case, I need salt, marjoram, fennel seeds, water, and a bowl."

"We have salt, water, and a bowl here but no marjoram or fennel seeds." Luna Charlize replies.

"I will go to the kitchen." Mathilda says.

"No I'm going it's too dangerous. I'm the one going." Sage replies.

"Because you know what marjoram and fennel seeds look like? Moreover, you're the Gamma you stay with Luna." She tells him and he can only surrender.

"Okay, let me send Clint away and after you go. I need to be ready just in case they already are in the packhouse." I say.

"Be careful, son, and tell your brother we love you both." Mathilda tells him, hugging. He nods and gulps, his eyes full of tears before hugging his father who whispers to him how much he loves him and he's proud of his sons.

Once the portal is closed, Mathilda is going thought the packhouse to find what I need.

"What's your plan?" Luna Charlize asks me.

"I'm going to seal the safe room with a spell. Nobody will be able to enter but people can go out if needed. We could all stay, I'm sure I can keep it sealed until help is coming." I explain.

When Mathilda comes back, she tells us that there are rogues outside and members from another pack and she heard them thought the kitchen window and they are speaking about setting the house on fire.

"Can you spell block the fire?" Luna Charlize asks and I shook my head. I can absorb it if it’s small but the smoke would remained.

"We need to attack now! Thank you Lana for your help. Take care of my sons for me." She adds.

"I'm only doing what I have to do. You don't have to thank me for that."

Sage and Mathilda look at each other with love and determination. They are ready to die and knowing both of their sons are “safe” bring them some kind of peace. They both ready the give up their lives for our Luna but for the sake of Ash and Clint, I can’t let that happen. The same goes for Luna Charlize but I will not let that happen, for Ezra and Elliot... And Alpha Elijah. Luna Charlize kissed Elliot and tries to convince him that everything will be fine but it's difficult for her. After that, the 3 of them and 4 retired warriors leave the room.

I close the door and start my spell. In a few minutes, it's done and I start to walk towards the exit of the house. Smoke starts to fill my lungs so I decide to find the source. When I found it with my hands I absorb the flames. Fire always has been my favorite element, it's feeding me. Hopefully, it will be enough. When I'm finally out, I found Luna Charlize, Sage, Mathilda, and the warriors in a bad position. They are surrender by wolves and two of the warriors are already dead. We a movement of my hand I send all the wolves away and create a shield around them.

"The witch! Attack the witch and take her down now!" Someone orders.

So I create a shield for me to but I can already feel my energy going down. There are 5 or 6 wolves attacking me and I'm so drained by my shields that I can't even attack back. In a few minutes, I feel my head spinning and I know it's over for me. I just hope I win enough time. I never thought I would die like that but maybe it's better like this. Now I will be free at least. When my shield goes away, one of the wolves jump one me and bite me in the neck. It's so painful that I'm already feeling myself fading away but before one of them can attack me again a big white wolf attacked them. Good that means the help is here.

Suddenly, I see the wolf turns into Ezra, a naked Ezra. He's screaming but I don’t understand what he’s saying. He looking at me with pure horror. Oh no! He knows! He knows I'm his mate this why he's looking at me with horror. After that everything went black.
