Chapter ANMER
The book's front cover has four border lines that come together to make a box on it. Outside the four border lines were a circle at each sideline and a line (path) that linked the circle to the border lines at each side. Inside the box was a maze and in the middle of the maze was also a circle.
After checking out the book, Adetutu said to Fawrus ''what kind of book is this that has a maze on top of the front cover?''.
''It is not a book and it is also a book'' said Fawrus to Adetutu.
''What do you mean by that? I can even feel its weight on my leg. It's heavy'' said Adetutu.
''It is called Anmer, which humans refer to as answer'' said Fawrus.
''Anmer? Have never heard of such a book with such name'' said Adetutu.
''Yes, you won't because it is not an ordinary book. It's a living book that has answers to all things'' said Fawrus.
Adetutu found what Fawrus said about the book funny making Adetutu smile and said to him ''you are joking, right? Answer to all things? Maybe I should ask it how to kill you''.
''The book will surely tell you but you won't be able to ask it because I won't allow that'' said Fawrus.
''Wait, are you for real? I thought you were joking'' said Adeutu, seeing Fawrus was serious.
''Am not. The book is a creature created in the shape of a book by God'' said Fawrus.
''If am to hear you right. You are saying this book is a living thing, not a book'' said Adetutu.
''Yes. It might not be able to talk to you or do things physically but it has powers of its own'' said Fawrus.
''Wow. Ignorance can be a disease sometimes. So this is what you spent your day searching for?'' asked Adetutu.
''Yes, I need it'' said Fawrus.
''And how were you able to find it if it takes much of your time and why do you need it?'' asked Adetutu.
''Anmer was stolen a long time ago by Lucifer in heaven's library and then was lost'' said Fawrus.
''Why would Lucifer steal it?'' asked Adetutu.
''And why do you need to know? Enough of your question“ said Fawrus.
''Why can’t I ask questions anymore?'' asked Adetutu.
''Nothing'' said Fawrus.
Then Adetutu tried to open the book but the book's front cover wouldn't move or budge, it looked like it had been glued to the pages. Adetutu also tried to open the book from the middle and still couldn't. Adetutu tried to open Anmer several times and still wasn't able to. The book covers refused to get separate from the pages and the pages refused to get separate from each other while Fawrus smiled watching her as she tried to open the book.
After several trials from Adetutu to open Anmer which failed, Fawrus said to Adetutu ''do you think the maze is just for decoration?''.
Adetutu stopped trying to open Anmer upon hearing Fawrus say that and asked ''what is the maze for then?''.
''Humans can't open Anmer. Only the gods, Angels and God himself can'' said Fawrus.
''Please tell me more'' said Adetutu, curious to know about Anmer.
''A god even needs to sacrifice his or her blood to be able to open Anmer... You see the circle at the middle of the maze is where a god will place his or her palm then the circle will spin very fast to be able to cut through the palm, and when it cuts through the palm the blood that comes out of the cut will enter into the circle. Once the blood enters the circle, the blood will have to find its way through the maze to the four circles outside the maze. That's the only way a god can open Anmer'' said Fawrus.
''What if the blood can't get through the maze to the four outer circles?'' asked Adetutu.
''The blood is the player in the maze it has to find a way to get through the maze to the four outer circles. If not on time the blood will dry up. Only if the blood is worthy can it make it to the outer circles'' said Fawrus.
''Has any god ever tried to ask Anmer a question or open Anmer?'' asked Adetutu.
''I don't know about that but Lucifer once opened Anmer when he was still an Angel. As an Angel, he doesn't need his blood to open it but just say some words only known to the Angel and Anmer will open itself. Lucifer opened Anmer because he wants to ask Anmer how he can kill God but before you can ask Anmer any question it will have to get connected to you. And not just that, Anmer will also have access to your memories.
Lucifer placed his palm on a page to get connected to Anmer and it did work then he asked Anmer how he could kill God but what Lucifer didn't know was that Anmer couldn't be asked anything about God. Instead of Anmer giving Lucifer an answer it began to kill Lucifer slowly from within. Lucifer tried to remove his palm from Anmer so he could stop Anmer from killing him but he wasn't able to because Anmer wasn't going to let him go of him but kill him for asking a bad question concerning God.
As Anmer was killing Lucifer from within and Lucifer trying to free himself, at that same time, Anmer was also going through Lucifer's memory, then Anmer came across a memory where God called Lucifer his favorite son, and because of that Anmer let go of Lucifer and disappeared from heaven to earth'' said Fawrus.
''So Anmer could have killed Lucifer if it had not seen the memory?'' asked Adetutu.
''Yes. Lucifer asked the wrong question. He asked Anmer how to kill Anmer's creator and that made Anmer want to kill him'' said Fawrus.
''Which means Anmer can't be asked the wrong question. So where did Anmer go when it comes to earth?'' asked Adetutu.
''Anmer hid among humans. For many centuries, humans had tried different methods and tools to open Anmer but they couldn't. Some even threw it inside a fire to burn it but it didn't and that made Anmer also move from one human to the other but it stopped moving when it got to humans who made it an heirloom and it became their heritage, and those who keep Anmer has heirloom was favored by Anmer.
Anmer opened itself up once in a while to give them answers to solve their problems and trouble. It also gives them answers to how they can be wealthy and live a successful life, but humans will always be humans.
War breaks out between humans when the other humans find out that Anmer blessed only one family leading to jealousy. The jealous humans joined hands and waged war against the ones that had Anmer, and they were able to take Anmer from the humans that once had it but the bloodshed didn't stop.
The jealous humans were all too greedy because they all wanted to have Anmer for themselves and that also resulted in war between them, then Anmer disappeared to stop the bloodshed and was never seen again until now that I found it'' said Fawrus.
''So where did you find it?'' asked Adetutu.
''Anmer was with Kuntapha all this while, I guess that was why he is more knowledgeable and has wisdom than anyone. When I killed Kuntapha and the mountain was destroyed, Anmer left there to a human and that was where I found it'' said Fawrus.
''Am curious about how you know a lot of things'' said Adetutu with curiosity.
''I don't know anything if it was just me. All that I know is either from Lucifer or Leo. Am just a soul'' said Fawrus.
" I guess you need Anmer for an answer'' said Adetutu.
''Yeah and don't bother to ask 'cause I won't tell you. And again you have known things you aren't supposed to know'' said Fawrus, and took Anmer from Adetutu's lap and then placed it on his lap.
Fawrus placed his palm on the circle in the middle of the maze, and then the circle spun and cut through Fawrus' palm. Blood came out of the cut into the circle then Fawrus removed his hand as the circle stopped spinning and the cut in his palm close up.
Fawrus said to Adetutu ''now watch''.
Adetutu saw as Fawrus' blood went on four different paths into the maze, Adetutu stared at it amazed.
Uncle James kept on ranting inside the car that they were following the necklace blindly and that the necklace was leading them the wrong way because it had truly malfunctioned but no one gave a response to him. Fawmus, Adewale, and Detective John all shut their ears from any word that came from uncle James. Fawmus also keeps following the directions given by the necklace.
The necklace stopped glowing and moving (as it rested back on Adewale's top) once they got to a big uncompleted building. They all took a peek from the car outside to see the building. Adewale said '' I think this is the building''.
Detective John said to uncle James ''see, you just wasted your saliva shouting in the car'', and that made uncle James angry.
''Don't you ever talk to me like that again or else'' said uncle James angrily to Detective John.
''Or else what?'' Detective John (boldly) asked uncle James.
''Would you both shut up or maybe I should mute you both'' said Fawmus, annoyed at the behavior of both Detective John and Uncle James, and they both couldn't say anything again.
''We stick to Kuntapha's plan'' said Fawmus to the three others, and gave the poison to Adewale.
''Okay'' said Adewale, as he put the poison inside his pocket and necklace under his top.
''Let's go everyone'' said Fawmus.
Just as they were all about to open the car door and get out of the car, Detection John said ''wait everyone'', and they all stopped and looked at him.
Adewale asked Detective John ''what is it?''.
''I just heard him say we stick to someone else plan which I don't think is right. Why don't we make plans of ours to be able to conquer whatsoever that is waiting for us inside this building'' said Detective John.
''What plan?'' Fawmus asked Detective John.
''Okay, let me tell you the plan. Fawmus will take the lead because he is supernatural, while Adewale will....'' said Detective John.
Detective John was cut short of words as uncle James cut in, ''Shut your goddamn mouth. Does this look like a soldiers' war or a policeman's mission? This is gods’ mission and it doesn't require a plan from you'' said uncle James to Detective John.
''Every mission requires a plan, we....'' said Detective John, but was short of words as Fawmus and Adewale (holding his gun) stepped out of the car annoyed.
''Where are you both going? Am not done talking the plan yet'' said Detective John out loud to Fawmus and Adetutu.
''I wonder if you are truly a Detective, you look like an amateur. If you like staying here with your stupid plan, am going'' said uncle James, and came down from the car holding his gun. Detective John also came down from the car holding his gun and the briefcase.
The four of them stand beside each other looking at the building. Fawmus said ''it's time'', and led the way into the building, followed by Adewale.
Detective John tried to follow Adewale and Fawmus but uncle James stopped him and said to him ''wait, I need to tell you something''.
''Am not interested in whatever you have to say'' said Detective John, refusing to hear what uncle James had to say and tried to move but uncle James held him to stop him.
Uncle James said to John ''calm down John, you have to listen to what I have to say because it may be what will help us in the end''.
"Nothing from you can help us at the end. Rubbish is what you want to say and am not interested in listening" said Detective John.
"You haven't even listened to what I have to say and you said it is rubbish. Sometimes you think and talk like a kid" said uncle James.
"And you think and talk like a guy," said Detective John, knowing it would get uncle James angry and it did.
"I thought I said not to refer to me as a guy" said uncle James angrily.
"I just did so what are you gonna do" said Detective John boldly, then uncle James stood very close in front of him and glared at him which he also did back.
They both glared at each other for some seconds before uncle James stopped glaring at John and said to me "we shouldn't be doing this we are not kids. And you need to listen to me"
''Okay, let's hear you and I hope it's not something that will make me shoot you'' said Detective John, as he also stopped glaring at uncle James.
Uncle was annoyed hearing that and asked “why would you shoot me?”
“I was just joking, so calm down. Let hear you” said Detective John.
''It is something I hope happened, so it can work'' said uncle James, as he looked at the building.
