My Formidable Husband

Chapter 28

Chapter 28 The Ruckus

At this point, Julianna's face had already turned ghastly white. Had Christopher taken out a card of other colors, it might still be possible that it was Globetrotter Winery's VIP card. But since the one he was holding was black, she immediately figured it was not the right one.

"I'm sorry. We've made a mistake..." Overwhelmed with awkwardness, Julianna desperately wished for the ground to swallow her. However, she knew she could not blame Christopher for falling behind with the times and bringing the wrong card since he had been away for five years.

Displeasure surged within Christopher when he heard Eleanor and Cedric's words. The man turned to Julianna and assured her, "Don't worry. This card indeed a card issued by Globetrotter Winery." Similarly, when the female lobby attendant received that black VIP card, they thought Christopher had passed them the wrong card. After all, they had only seen the red and gold card. "I'm sorry, sir. It seems like this VIP card doesn't belong to us. Did you happen to take the wrong one?"

"Hahaha! Your husband is really on another level, Julianna!" Eleanor chuckled triumphantly and began to spew insults upon hearing what the lobby attendant said.

"Christopher, I know it must've been a huge blow to you after comparing yourself with me. But it's more than normal for differences to exist between people. Don't be disheartened." Cedric glanced at Christopher with a mocking grin before giving Julianna a side-eye. That disdainful expression on the former's face only made her feel extremely humiliated.

"Let's go." Julianna forcefully dragged Christopher, preparing to leave the venue.

"Julianna, this card is real." It was out of the man's imagination that even Globetrotter Winery's lobby attendant would fail to recognize the black card. Nonetheless, it did not take him too long to figure things out. It was most likely because the card Diane had given him was too high a class that average employees would not know of its existence, let alone see it.

Christopher then added, "Miss, take a look at it. There's Globetrotter Winery's logo on this card. You can bring and show it to your manager."

"I don't see the need to do that. It's purely a waste of everybody's time!" Eleanor coldly scoffed.

"Honey, that's not right. Perhaps, the card might be a legit one? If that's so, we'll benefit from it and get the chance to tour the winery. Miss, please bring it to your manager to have a check!"

Listening to Eleanor and Cedric fanning the flames only made Julianna feel her cheeks burn. It's enough that I've suffered so much in the Murray residence. But now, I've to go through the mockery of my classmates even out here.

She hated herself for asking Christopher along earlier and resented why he was being so obstinate.

"Are you done with all this ruckus? Please spare me from the embarrassment!" Julianna shouted at Christopher.

The latter wanted to explain to her that the card was given to him by the general manager of Globetrotter Winery, but noticing that she was on the verge of tears, he felt a sudden heartache. As he sighed and tried to retrieve his card, Cedric immediately uttered, "Julianna, you should let the lobby attendant enquire about it!"

The lobby attendant, in fact, was also a little hesitant. After all, there was indeed the winery's logo on the card. She would have rejected these visitors under normal circumstances, but because of the number o colleagues and managers who were fired that afternoon, she dared not act recklessly.

She smiled. "Please hold on for a moment. I'll head inside to check with my manager."

With that said, she turned and walk into the office.

Just as she entered, she bumped into the duty manager walking in her direction. Instantly, she rushed over and nervously explained, "There's someone outside who flashed this card and tried to fool me by saying it's our VIP card. Luckily, I've managed to stop him from stepping in."

The manager calmly nodded. He did not find anything strange since it was not the first time he stumbled into such incidents where people got drunk and faked a VIP card with a random membership card. But when he took the card from the lobby attendant's hand, he immediately turned ashen-faced.

Oh gosh! Isn't this the winery's VIP black card? The highest class of all!

The manager was scared to death. Aren't we courting death for stopping such an esteemed guest?

"W-Where's the person?" he asked tremblingly.

"Outside. The young man in a camouflage outfit." The lobby attendant was probably in a state of panic that she had no chance of asking further when the manager had already run toward the outside. It was so obvious that he had absolutely freaked out!

Meanwhile, while Cedric and Eleanor were gloating and waiting to watch a good show, Julianna was immensely ashamed and regretted her decision. I'll never bring Christopher out again!

"Julianna, don't be like this. Maybe it'll turn out to be a real one..." Before Eleanor could continue mocking, she spotted a man in a suit darting toward them, then grabbing Christopher's hand while shaking violently. "I'm truly sorry, sir. My subordinates don't know any better and have never come across Globetrotter Winery's VIP black card. That's why she blocked you from entering. I sincerely apologize on behalf of the winery. How about this? We will waive all of your expenses tonight."
