My Ex-wife’s Hidden Personalities ( Freya Kaufmann )

Chapter 391 His Purpose

Chapter 391 His Purpose

It depended on her?

Freya furrowed her brow and asked, “What do you mean?”,

Jamie smiled and replied, “I want to share a story with you, Miss Kaufmann.”

Over the next period, he recounted his childhood, the death of his parents, and his involvement with the organization.

He then described how he had been ruthless and cunning in scheming to rise to a high position.

When he spoke of killing, his demeanor was as indifferent as when he asked Freya to have tea.

“Later, I was seriously injured during a mission. It’s actually quite ridiculous. I didn’t know anything. myself. I only knew that when I woke up, I was already in the hospital, and a long time had passed.”

Freya said coldly. “That mission was to take the book from my hands, right?”

Jamie nodded and replied, “Yes. When I woke up, the first thing I saw was Edward. He is my only relative in this world. If I still have a bit of humanity left, it must be completely devoted to him.”

“Why are you mentioning Edward?” Freya furrowed her brow.

Jamie continued, “Later, I investigated and found that two years before I fell into a coma, Edward suffered a lot. Eating leftovers and doing odd jobs were common occurrences for him. He was bullied and eventually ended up having to become a male model. Those two years must have felt like hell for him, but those in hell long for the sunlight the most.”

Freya listened silently and understood one thing in her heart.

Edward didn’t know about the things that Jamie was doing now.

Jamie continued, “You saved me, but I wasn’t very moved. I think you’ve also noticed that in the previous. incidents, I didn’t intend to take your life. At that time, I was grateful that you saved Edward, and secondly

Freya furrowed her brow,

He smiled and added, “Secondly, because you are the sunshine in Edward’s eyes. The two most important people in his life are you and me.”

She remained silent for a few seconds and asked, “What exactly do you want to say? Are you afraid that I will tell Edward about what you’ve done in the future? But since Edward is so important to you, you probably won’t let me go back.”

“As I said, it depends on you. The smile on Jamie’s face disappeared. “Originally, it was just Falcon who wanted that book. Now that Falcon is gone, I also want that book, but there are more important matters ahead of the book. Recently, Edward found out that he has advanced stomach cancer. I thought since you were able to cure your brother’s illness, which was also a terminal illness, maybe you can find a way to

re Edward’s illness too.”

Freya looked up sharply and exclaimed, “Advanced stomach cancer! How did I not know?”

Jamie’s face remained calm as he replied, “Even Edward himself doesn’t know yet. After he fainted, I injected him with medication to keep him in a coma until now. Freya, if you can cure my brother, I can le you go back. As for the secret of that book, I will also tell you about it.”

Freya tightly pursed her lips. Cancer was a difficult problem that all medical researchers in the world wer trying to overcome, but so far, advanced stomach cancer was almost impossible to recover from.

Even for her-

She looked at Jamie and said, “No wonder you wanted to kidnap Lucius and the others.”

“Yes. I thought since they had been your partners and worked on drug development, kidnapping them would be a way to make the most of their abilities and also keep you in check.”

Jamie spoke with a faint expression on his face, which was completely devoid of any guilt.

She narrowed her eyes. “If you wanted me to treat Edward, I would have done so even if you hadn’t kidnapped me.”

“I knew you’re a kind-hearted person for the longest time,” Jamie said with a smile. “I’m just afraid that you might not be doing it wholeheartedly.”

Freya squinted her eyes and realized that he wouldn’t trust anyone in his eyes.

“Where is Edward now? I want to see him.”

He stood up and replied, “I’ll take you there.”

The room Jamie arranged for Edward was at the far end of the villa, with a view of the backyard from the window. It had a pleasant environment.

Edward lay on the sickbed with his eyes closed, and he looked much thinner than usual.

Freya’s heart ached when she remembered the phone call Jamie made during the last live broadcast. “During the last live broadcast, you said you took Edward to pay respects to your parents. Was that a lie?”

Jamie stood by Freya’s side while looking at his brother lying on the sickbed and replied, “Yes. At that time, Edward had just been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Freya closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“If you want to treat Edward, you’ll need a lot of medical equipment. It’s not convenient to stay here. It’s best to be in the hospital for treatment.”

Jamie didn’t think it was a troublesome matter and said, “You don’t have to worry about that, Miss Kaufmann. Whatever you need, I can have it sent directly to you.”

“All right. Now that you’ve seen him, let’s go out.” Jamie turned around with Freya and left the room.

He led her to the main hall, where Lucius and the other two were already sitting.

She sized up the three of them. Maddox, the one with the least courage, was now hanging his head, with big beads of sweat dripping down his forehead. He adjusted his glasses and didn’t even dare to lift his head.

Russell, on the other hand, had stabilized a lot and cautiously stared at Freya and Jamie.

Lucius, the youngest and most impulsive, immediately stood up and stared at Jamie and Freya as they came out. “What do you want?”

Jamie’s lips curled up with a faint smile as he looked at the two men guarding beside Lucius. One of them. immediately understood and stepped forward before punching Lucius in the face. Lucius struggled and wanted to fight back, but the dark barrel of a gun was pressed against his forehead.

He froze in place, and Freya stood by with wide eyes.

“Stop!”

However, the guard didn’t listen to her. Instead, he turned to look at Jamie.

Jamie’s lips carried a smile as he walked step by step toward Lucius and the other two. His gaze swept over them, and it finally settled on Lucius.

“I don’t like people who have no manners. From now on, you three will stay with me for a year or so. So, it’s better to be obedient and polite.”

As he spoke, a faint smile played on his face, but no one could ignore the underlying hostility and thirst for blood in his eyes.

He emitted a menacing aura that left no doubt in people’s minds that he would strike at any given moment.

Lucius clenched his teeth and fixed his gaze on Jamie while refraining from uttering another word. Freya approached Lucius and positioned herself in front of him.

“Mr. Fraser, if you wish to cure your younger brother, you cannot afford to lose any of these three individuals.”

Jamie’s expression changed. “Of course. I invited them here to have a meal and discuss the illness. I simply did not anticipate Mr. Gray’s impulsive behavior.”

While speaking, Jamie stared at Lucius, devoid of any trace of a smile in his eyes.

“I’ve heard that you’re a prodigious young talent in the medical field, correct? If you wish to avoid an untimely demise, you should be more obedient in the future.”

His demeanor resembled that of someone raising Lucius as a pet. Jamie made a gesture, and the gun pressed against Lucius’ forehead was immediately withdrawn.

“All right. It’s time for lunch. Please proceed to the restaurant.”
