Chapter CHAPTER 18
While at her desk, Blair couldn't stop feeling low. All this time, Jenny knew about her true self! How could they use her to confirm Jacob's sexual orientation? Well, she deserved to be fooled, after all, she started it!
She wanted to concentrate but the women's chatters distracted her. "Didn't I tell you to sort the documents?" She snapped at all of them, and it was during that time when Jacob got out of his office. She thought that he would scold her but he just ignored her as if he didn't see her at all, and what's worst, he went to one of the women. Later on, she witnessed Jacob going out with one of the girls.
She recalled their not so recent conversation that he would need a woman whenever he's bothered. It shouldn't bother her but Blair couldn't help but imagine Jacob's body on top of the pretty woman. What's wrong with her?
Ever since Carmela Gordon asked her to seduce Jacob, her head was filled with his images. When Jacob went out with one of his future secretaries, she was jealous. Supposedly, she's the one to accompany him. Of the three women, he chose the most flirt of them all.
"If you're done, you can go to the canteen now and have your lunch," she ordered.
"How about you, Blair? Hmmm, I hope you don't mind to be called with your first name since we're on the same level," one of the girls said.
She concealed her irritation and smiled at the bitch who tried to be bitchy around her. "It's alright, Veraminta."
"Vera," she corrected Blair.
Blair smiled at the woman who seemed uncomfortable with her first name. "Veraminta is much better, don't you agree Elizabeth?" She asked the other woman who's so focused on her task. "Yes, Blair."
Araminta frowned at her continuous usage of the woman's hideous first name. Until the newly hired staff finished their task, she didn't open her mouth again and pretended to be occupied. However, she did nothing! She just stared at her monitor while thinking about Jacob and the other staff.
When Veraminta and Elizabeth went to the canteen, she turned off the light and made herself comfortable on the swivel chair. She used the neck pillow that Jenny gave her last week. A deep sigh escaped from her lips before she closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes, the room was dark and she was disoriented for a few seconds. "Ohhh," she groaned as she managed her neck. Her eyes squinted as she tried to check the time. It was so dark that her best option was to turn on the computer. "Holy shit!" She screamed upon seeing Jacob's face looming above hers.
"How's your sleep?"
His deep voice penetrated her senses and as soon as she realized what she's thinking, she got up as fast as she could, causing her head to bump into Jacob's. "Sorry," she said and walked towards the switch to turn on the lights. "You shouldn't bother with the lights," he called.
"Oh!" How did she lose track of the time? When she glanced at Jacob, the man just smiled at her. Or should she say that he mockingly smiled at her?
"Let's grab something to eat before I'll drive you home," he offered.
Blair shook her head to refuse. "You don't have to mind me, sir," she said.
"I insist."
She's been working with Jacob Gordon for several months and she learned that it wasn't hard for him to attract women of all ages. How many clients have fallen for him? She already lost the count. Well, who wouldn't fall for someone like him? He got the looks, the money, and the connection!
"Do you like the new staff?"
"Yes! Alexandra was good," he replied without giving further details. "I'm moving out tomorrow to the apartment so I need a companion," he announced.

Several questions ran through her head about the things he did with Alexandra in the afternoon but before she could even ask, he mentioned that almost provoke her devil side. "Do you mean a mistress?" "Yes. My mother said that you'll help me find someone suitable as my mistress."
Blair assumed that she would be free of Jacob once she'll quit the job. Yes, she accepted the blank check but she already realized that she didn't have the guts to do it. "I don't know what you're talking about," she answered but after he announced the mistress thing, she wanted to snap the breath out of him.
"I want you to do it discreetly," he ordered Blair to find a woman who's willing to live with him in the apartment.
"Okay, but you must tell me the terms. Will there be sexual intercourse?"
Earlier, when he left with Alexandra, she was cranky and vent her frustrations to Veraminta and Elizabeth. She couldn't accept that unknowingly, she developed unwanted feelings for Jacob. She wouldn't be jealous of Alexander if she didn't want Jacob for herself. When did it begin? All this time, she was careful in guarding her heart.
"No!"
At least! Because she's not yet ready to give herself to any man especially to Jacob Gordon! "I'll make sure to hire the best woman before my last day in Wolf Bank," she assured him.
"Thank you, Blair. You know, I like our partnership in the office but I won't stop you if you want a greener pasture somewhere else."
All of a sudden, she became emotional in his words. "I also love to work with you but something came up, I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I understand, and I'm used to it."

Since it's already late, Blair opted for takeout. Jacob also agreed that he would only drop her off at the gasoline station closed to her residence. "Thank you," she mouthed upon getting out of his car. As expected, Jacob didn't say anything and just drove away.
When she got home, the entire house was dark, and wondered where Tracy was. The rusty gate shrieked when she pushed it, and suddenly, the house was lit up and Tracy came out with a cake. "Happy birthday, Blair!"
Blair fought back the tears in her eyes but they were unstoppable. No wonder she was out of herself today because it's that time of the year when she would be reminded how lonely she was. In her entire life, she's always alone on her birthday, until Tracy came.
"I forgot about today," she said in a shaky voice.
Tracy felt bad for Blair. If her life was miserable, no one could beat Blair's experience. "I wish that you'll find the happiness you deserve this year," she said and blow the candle on Blair's behalf.
It was supposed to be a happy occasion but they ended up crying and ruined the mood. "I'll be lost without you, Tracy."
Tracy shook her head in response. "No, you won't be. You are stronger than you imagine, my friend."
"I'm tired of being strong...alone."
"Blair, please don't make me cry. I don't want to waste all the goodness waiting for us inside," she tried to lighten the mood when Blair became emotional.
"I'm sorry Tracy but I just can't help myself from crying. Today has been hard for me," she said.
Once again, Tracy hugged her good friend and patted her shoulders. "You will always have me, but of course, I'll be happier if you'll find someone who will become your champion forever."
Blair forced herself to smile. As a child, she also dreamed of finding her prince charming, but her life was far from being a fairytale...especially when she had feelings for the wrong person. "I hope so," she said.
