Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant

Chapter 33 Heartsick, Because the Heart Has Turned Bad

Her other leg which not yet crossed the entrance stayed inside the room. Riley looked at the people who were passing by in front of the emergency room with an expressionless face and said airily, "They're jus someone I encounter by accident."

Oh? Just encounter by accident? From her nervous look just now, and how she was so anxious to ask the security guards to come to the scene, it did not seem to be the case. William shrugged. "Is that so...' He passed by her and shoved the medicine bottle into her hand. "Apply the medicine at night, and your wound has to avoid contact with water these days. Don't carry out strenuous exercises. If your wound is torn apart again, it might leave a scar."

Riley took over the bottle and glimpsed at it. "Are you doubting my medicinal knowledge?" William smiled without saying yes or no. "No, I'm doubting your ability to take actions. Old wound follows by the new, if you still want to wear skirts, you better mind your knee these days." After finishing reminding her, he left without waiting for her to take a step out, leaving her watching his back. Riley sneered. What cool personality he had.

As Riley had just finished treating her wound and was going to take the lift to go to the cardiology department, a bunch of people suddenly swarmed into the lift and she was forced to the very corner. She moved her knee slightly backwards and thought it was indeed her responsibility to take care of her own knee. "Did you see Lydia Saunders just now? Oh my gosh, she's really beautiful! She even looks prettier than when on TV, especially her heart-shaped face!" Oh is she? What's so pretty of that cunning face?

"And she's slim too! She looks like she only weighs 85 pounds at most! And she even has long legs, I'm jealous!" Long legs? Riley sneered. She was two centimeters taller than Lydia in heights. "That's not the only thing! She's sexy too! She does not have any fat over her body and they're all stored in her breasts and hips! She has a nice body!" This? Riley looked at herself and moved her eyes away.

As Riley finished changing her clothes in the changing room, her phone vibrated in her pocket. She tidied her collar with one hand and picked up the phone with another. Seeing the name that was shining on the screen, her heart leapt. She took two breaths to calm herself down and answered the call. "Hello?"

"Where are you?" His tone of voice exactly resembled the way a supervisor talked to his subordinate, impatient and frustrated. The message Euan wanted to convey to her was he really disliked her! Riley tidied up her clothes and attached a pen on it. "I'm at the duty room."

"Come here now."

"...I have to go to work, the patients are waiting."

"Then let them wait. Come upstairs now."

"..."

"Riley Watson, don't test my patience. I give you three minutes."

"Hey..." The phone was hung up and she was avoided of any chance to reply. She stared at the screen and let out an aggrieved grim smile. He wanted to torture her, humiliate her and make her embarrassed in the three-people relationship.

He actually dared to use such a despicable trick! She shoved her phone into the pocket of her white coat with hatred and headed towards the lift with a frigid and indignant look. Nurses who passed by her all lowered their heads and no one dared to utter a word. "Ma...Doctor Watson, you're here." She was surprised that Euan was not there when she reached the obstetrics and gynecology department and there was only Elijah waiting outside the entrance.

Riley nodded and asked, "Where's Euan?"

"Mr. George has left due to some matters. I'm waiting for Miss Saunders here. Mr. George is worried that something would happen to Miss Saunders and he wants you to keep her company here." Riley tightened her clenched fists in her pockets and replied, "Okay." Elijah glanced at her. It was the first time he saw her wearing the white coat in person.

Her long hair was tied into a ponytail and her clean and pale forehead was shown, highlighting her heart-shaped face that made her looked younger than her actual age. Her skinny body was clad in immaculate white coat, and with her deft and neat appearance, she inevitably gave him a comfortable feeling. But that was just his feeling. Who knew how Mr. George would think of her?

After waiting for more than half an hour, Lydia finally came out after the checkup was done. Elijah stood with his hands at his sides. Seeing Euan not there when she came out, and Riley was there instead, Lydia felt annoyed. She handed the checkup report to Riley and said, "The report's come out, Doctor Watson. Do help me have a look." Riley flipped it and basically knew the situation after having a look through. "The fetus's development is good, and the result for every criterion looks nice."

Lydia crossed her arms before her chest and sneered. "Doctor Watson, you better have a closer look. If anything happens to me and the baby, how should you be held responsible?" As she said the last word, she moved her eyes to her abdomen and made a cold sarcastic remark in contempt.

The veins on Riley's hand bulged and she had another look through of the result once again while tightening her grasp on the report. "You're slightly anemic and you could fix that by having supplements. It would be alright to pay more attention to your daily diets and remember not to be picky during pregnancy. The diet must be a mix of vegetables and meat, and the nutrition must be balance. Pay attention to protein consumption, and appropriate proportion of fat could help in fetus's development."

Lydia sneered. "Fat? Doctor Watson, I'm an artist. Artists can't get fat. Are you trying to ruin my career? As for the anemic part, I can take drugs." Riley glanced at her abdomen and said, "The fetus is only five weeks old and it's unstable. Pregnant women can't simply take any drugs. Miss Saunders, getting pregnant is a risk of its own, it might get your body out of shape."

Lydia sneered. "Sounds like you've gotten pregnant before! I'm afraid that somebody would love their body to get out of shape; it's just that they didn't get a chance to do so! Don't you forget, Doctor Watson, many eyes are watching this child. You better figure how to nurse my health!" Riley handed the checkup report to Elijah and said, "Miss Saunders has been tired due to the checkup, please bring her back to rest."

"Doctor Watson, my child has developed normally and grown well, are you disappointed?"

"Miss Saunders, it's better for pregnant women not to become so calculating and overthink, it will affect the baby's intellect. Mr. Parker, could you send her out now?" Elijah stooped and said, "Miss Saunders, please come with me."

After Lydia left, a bunch of doctors and nurses were raring to inquire in a cautious manner. "Doctor Watson? Could it be you know Lydia Saunders? From the way you talked just now, you two seem to know each other well."

With an indifferent attitude, Riley replied, "You guys have nothing to do anymore? If you have time to gossip, why don't you finish your own stuff first?" The junior nurses all kept quiet the moment she spoke. The soft discussion voices were only heard when the sound of her footsteps faded as she walked away.

"Doctor Watson, why do you come so late? The deputy director had come just now, he seemed disappointed when he didn't see you, I wonder what happened." Serena held a patient logbook in her arms and blinked.

Instead of a caring look, she looked like she was more into gossips. Margot giggled. "Someone said the movie star chatted amiably with you for a long while after the checkup! I was curious and baffled, it's still reasonable that the surgical department asks for your help, as it always concerns the heart after all. Yet as for the obstetrics and gynecology department, they're completely none of our business."

"Oh! Could it be my idol has problem in her heart? Doctor Watson, what's wrong with Lydia Saunders?"

Riley glanced at the time lethargically and was ready to go look for the deputy director. "She indeed has a bad heart."

"Gosh! Is it true? Is it serious? Is there a need to stay in the hospital? I wonder whether I'm eligible enough to be her attending doctor."

Riley let out a soft chuckle. "You can't save her. Her illness has spread all over her body, it's a malignant tumor."

"What?!" Without caring for Serena's dramatic exclamation, she turned and walked out of the office.

Inside the deputy director's office, David who was wearing a big smile gestured her to sit when he saw her came in. "Riley, you're the brightest junior doctor in the cardiology department, the director and I all have high expectations of you." They were just some courteous words, and she acted attentive when she did not really care about it. "Thank you, Doctor Hamilton. I wonder why did you look for me?"

"Oh yes, I do have something for you." He took a few papers stapled together from the desk and said, "This is the application form of our hospital for the professor assessment this year, do fill this up." Feeling surprised, Riley asked, "I thought only those thirty and above are eligible to apply? I still have few years before I reach thirty."

"No, no, this year's evaluation criterion is the clinical result. We've seen your performance, but you still lack one professional essay, you only need to write one by the end of this month." Light dawned on her and Riley nodded with deference. "Thank you, Doctor Hamilton. I'll do my best."

"Good, you can get back to your own work now."

Riley flipped and looked at the form as she walked. She froze upon seeing one of the sessions asking for her relationship status. Everybody in the hospital thought she was still single and she too would sometimes forget she actually had a husband. She frowned when she was asked to write about that. Is she still considered married when the marriage did not look like one, and even her own husband did not acknowledge it?

During the next day at the hospital, Riley headed towards the office while reading the patient records after settling her tedious work. Her way was blocked by a shadow and with her eyes still lowered, she saw the comer's clean and shiny shoes. The moment she budged to the side, the comer also did the same and blocked in front of her. After repeating for a few times, Riley finally kept away the records impatiently and looked up. "What are you doing?"

Hendrix's frivolous handsome face gradually zoomed in right before her and he grinned. "What are you looking, Riley? You look so serious." He leaned to the front wanting to see what she was looking yet Riley deliberately hid it behind. "Why are you coming here again?" Hendrix covered his chest and coughed severely. "I've really fallen sick this time. My chest is tight and I can't breathe. I feel weak and I feel so uncomfortable. Please have a look at me."

This trick again! Does this rich boy have anything else to do? Riley walked away without paying attention to him. Hendrix chased after her and continued, "Riley, you can't be that coldblooded, can you? I'm really having a severe illness now. Look at my face, my tongue, aren't they looking abnormal?"

Riley sped up her footsteps instead and said, "Hendrix, if you dare mess around here again, I'll tell your big brother." Hendrix pouted and both of them had reached the lift at the same time. "Riley, don't you have any response when my big brother brought Lydia Saunders here for checkup?"

He had actually come for this matter? Riley pressed the lift button heading downstairs and continued to reply indifferently, "What response should I give? Cry and yell that I want to kill myself? I don't have time for that. If you want to watch the fun, you can watch it at the square at 9pm."

Hendrix choked. He was dissed. "How would watching a bunch of grandmas dancing be more fun than watching you acting cool? I'm feeling aggrieved for you, could you possibly be willing to get trampled by Lydia Saunders? Are you willing to watch her reaching her goal with her bulging stomach?"

The door of the lift opened and Riley walked in. "You're not here to watch the fun, but to encourage me to deal with the other mistress?"

"Exactly! You're smart as expected. But, I know you're busy, and you're kind-hearted, therefore I've figured out a way for you, and I guarantee Lydia Saunders would not dare to bother you anymore!" Riley glimpsed at him from the corner of her eyes with a doubtful look. "Oh?"

"I knew you'll be interested! But, if I help you deal with Lydia Saunders, I hope you can promise me one thing."
