Chapter 56: Car Race
Adam felt extremely awkward.
He shouldn’t have gone straight to the parking lot to confront Sandra.
No matter what, he was in the wrong.
Sandra treated Jefferson, and Adam was already grateful.
So, no matter what Sandra asked for, he would do it.
Jefferson was not an ordinary person.
So, Adam asked carefully.
“What if it’s an emergency?”
Sandra pointed to Joey, “Talk to him.”
Adam was speechless.
Well, at least he could contact Sandra.
Sandra returned to the villa and went straight to bed.
But Joey was too excited to sleep.
Seeing Wesley coming out of the room, he hurriedly approached and asked directly.
“Mr. Cooper, do you think those bodyguards came by accident?”
He called them bodyguards in case the walls had ears.
In reality, those people could be classified as assassins.
But… they were all too incompetent.
Wesley asked, “You already have the answer. Why are you asking me?”
Joey just wanted to ask for confirmation.
But he changed the topic.
“Mr. Cooper, did you notice that Mrs. Cooper wasn’t afraid at all when
I dealt with those… bodyguards?”
In Joey’s opinion, Sandra was only bold in the company.
In a life–and–death situation, she would undoubtedly be afraid.
But today, no matter what methods he used on those bodyguards, she remained expressionless as if it was nothing out of the ordinary.
“Mrs. Cooper used to live in the countryside, but she seems to have experienced these situations frequently.”
Wesley asked in his wheelchair, “Have you identified those people?”
Joey quickly reported.
“Yes, they are indeed foreigners, but they have long–term residence permits in Helwanis.
“They are involved in surveying ancient tombs, tomb–robbing, and artifact–trading.
“Thé ancient book was stolen from a castle.”
These words couldn’t be fully trusted, but they couldn’t be completely dismissed either.
Wesley closed his eyes and filtered through the information in his mind.
“Find the location of this castle and investigate it.”
Joey nodded and turned to leave.
But he suddenly remembered something.
“By the way, Mr. Cooper, there’s a car race lately. Would you like to…”
He hesitated and smacked his own mouth hard.
Considering Wesley’s current physical condition, it was impossible for him to participate in a car race.
“Mr. Cooper, I’m so sorry…”
“It’s alright. Tell me more about this race.”
Wesley knew Joey well. If it was just a simple race, Joey probably wouldn’t have brought it up.
Joey came back and reported seriously.
“Actually, this race is sponsored by the Cooper Group. The winner will receive a Pagani Zonda as a prize.”
Upon hearing that, Wesley emitted a cold aura.
This car was a limited edition and held a special meaning to him as it
was his first collectible car.
But before he fell into a coma, Debra had set him up and registered the car under the company.
In all these years that he had been in a vegetative state, the car had
become a regular at auctions.
Because of its sentimental value, there were always people bidding for it, and it eventually returned to the auction.
The auction house was also part of the Cooper Group, and Debra thought the car had lost its appeal.
So, she made it a prize in the end.
Debra’s idea was quite good. This race had indeed attracted countless foreigners.
Joey continued.

“Debra has set up a car company. After this race, the company’s reputation will be established.”
In other words, this race was beneficial for Debra.
Unless Wesley participated in it and became the champion.
“I see.”
Wesley’s eyes dimmed as he let out a long sigh.
Car races not only required familiarity with the cars but also tested a person’s endurance, physical fitness, and adaptability.
He no longer possessed any of these qualities.
He hadn’t touched a car in three or four years, and he was now too
weak to stand.
There was no way he could participate in this race.
At the Hill Mansion.
Emily cried in front of Gary, Kyle, and Jagger for a long time.
Gary was heartbroken.
He had always indulged and cherished Emily. Seeing her cry made his
heart ache.
So, even though he knew that it was because of Emily that the Hill family had lost a lot of money, he couldn’t bring himself to blame her.
“It’s not your fault. Those people are cunning and set a trap for Ben. You and Philip were just implicated.”
Emily cried even harder.
She had spent so much money on the bottle of red ink just to exchange it for The Beauty.

She had thought that in a couple of years, the painting would be worth a fortune, and then she could sell it.
But now, with Ben’s reputation ruined, the painting was worthless!
She had spent millions of dollars on a piece of worthless paper!
“Alright, stop crying. Go wash your face.”
Gary.got annoyed and wasn’t in the mood to comfort her.
“Get a good night’s sleep. Just let it go for now.”
Emily didn’t want to listen to her brothers lecturing her, so she nodded and turned to go upstairs.
After she left, Kyle lit a cigarette and sighed.
“Gary, although the company received some funds earlier, we have no more liquid assets now. If we don’t have any funds by the end of the month, I’m afraid the company won’t survive.”
The Hill Group was a large company with over ten thousand employees.
So, they couldn’t declare bankruptcy lightly, but it would be delisted and face various investigations.
They would get in a lot of trouble.
And they still had to pay their employees‘ salaries.
Therefore, Kyle didn’t want such a thing to happen.
Gary looked at Jagger.
“Jagger, I heard that there is a car race recently, and the prize money is 50 million dollars.”
Jagger came back today to comfort Emily.
As Emily was now fine, he put his phone away.
“Yes, I have to go back to practicing.
Gary, with a worried expression, pulled him back.
“Jagger, the Hill family is relying on you. This prize money is crucial for us.”
“I will do my best.”
Jagger was confident as he had defeated all the participants in this
race.
