Chapter 32: I’m Willing to Take Full Responsibility

Upon hearing Iris cry, Rebecca rushed forward to hug her.

“Mom, what happened to Dad?”

Seeing how pitiful they looked, the doctors were upset.

The doctor at the front sighed,

“We have done everything we can, but there is one more option…”

Rebecca’s face immediately lit up as she looked at the doctor. “What is it? As long as there is a glimmer of hope, we will try it.”

The doctor nodded. “I know how much you want to help the patient, but… it’s hard to say.”

Rebecca wiped away her tears and earnestly said, “It’s okay. Please tell me.”

The doctor sighed again.

“Well, there is a very remarkable doctor. We don’t know if it’s a man or a woman or how old it is, but it has awesome medical skills.”

Rebecca instantly became excited.

“Where is this doctor? No matter how difficult or expensive, we will find a way to see this doctor.”

“It’s not a matter of money.”

The doctor looked helpless. “All we know is that this doctor’s code name is Kate.”

In other words, there was no other information except for a name.

Rebecca was disappointed.

Her face turned pale.

The doctor gave her hope and then took it away.

“Thank you, doctor.”

She mumbled.

But tears streamed down her cheeks.

Iris covered her face, “We haven’t done anything wrong Why is this happening to us?”

“Hey, what are you doing? Get your hands off the patient!”

A nurse’s exclamation interrupted the cries of Iris and Rebecca.

They both looked into the ward.

Sandra had walked into the ward and was standing by the bed.

Iris, whose eyes were now blurred from crying, couldn’t see clearly.

But Rebecca saw clearly!

Sandra inserted a thin silver needle into Oliver’s head.

Her eyes widened in shock.

“Are you crazy?”

The nurse in charge of the ward yelled.

If something happened to a patient under her supervision, she would get fired.

So, when Sandra was about to pierce the second needle, she quickly stepped forward to stop her.

As the nurse rushed over, Sandra used her spare hand to press down on the nurse’s forehead.

The nurse weighed around 120 pounds.

Sandra appeared to weigh no more than 100 pounds,

Her arm was so slender.

But she was strong enough to stop the nurse.

“Stay back. I can make him wake up.

The nurse was furious. “Save your breath! This is a hospital. Even top experts can’t wake the patient up!

“If you don’t let go of the patient right now, I will call the police!”

Sandra inserted the third needle.

She got impatient.

“If you can quiet down after calling the police, c

ahead!”

She then moved her finger slightly and pushed the nurse away, causing her to almost fall to the ground. The doctor, Iris, and Rebecca, who were discussing Oliver’s condition at the door, immediately reacted

The doctor rushed in to stop Sandra and even called for security.

Rebecca and Iris just wanted to make sure Oliver was okay.

Sandra frowned in annoyance.

“You’re all so noisy!”

She looked displeased.

By the time the doctor arrived, she had already inserted the tenth needle.

“Miss, you’re committing murder!”

The doctor growled, hoping Sandra would retreat.

Oliver’s attending physician, Eddy Parker, was filled with anger.

“Stop her. She’s killing the patient! If she could wake the patient up with just some needles, we wouldn’t have to work anymore!”

As soon as Eddy finished speaking, the security rushed in.

But they didn’t dare to make any rash moves because Sandra was treating Oliver.

Eddy gritted his teeth, “What are you waiting for? Stop her before she kills the patient!”

Sandra warned again, “Only three more needles to go. You’d better be quiet!”

Iris cried even more, gripping Rebecca tightly. Though she was agitated, she couldn’t utter a word.

Rebecca stared at Sandra, who used to buy fruits from her on the mountain.

She didn’t know why, but when she thought about the years they had spent together, she trusted Sandra.

“Don’t move. I believe in her.”

She didn’t even know what had come over her to say those words.

Iris looked at Rebecca in disbelief.

Rebecca was determined.

She repeated, “I believe in Ms. Hill.”

Iris covered her face again, tears of sadness seeping through her fingers.

She thought maybe Rebecca was right. Since Oliver was unlikely to wake up, they might as well let him find peace.

If he died, he wouldn’t have to suffer anymore.

But she still couldn’t bear to let Oliver die.

Tears blurred her eyes.

Eddy was furious. “Can you take on the responsibility?

If they extorted money from the hospital, he would lose his job.

Rebecca took a deep breath. “You can take out your phones now and record a video. I will explain the whole situation, and it won’t involve the hospital.”

Eddy immediately took out his phone. “Okay, go ahead. Just to be clear, we are not coercing you.” Rebecca said firmly, “I’m doing this voluntarily. I will take full responsibility for all consequences.” By the time the video was recorded, Sandra had already finished inserting her silver needles. Then, she began her countdown.

“Three, two…”

Eddy put away his phone and sneered.

“You think you’re a remarkable doctor? Save your breath!”

“One!”

As soon as Sandra finished speaking, a gasp came from the hospital bed.

Oliver’s pale face regained some color, and even his eyes opened slightly. He was really awake?!

All the doctors, nurses, and security guards stared at him in shock.

They couldn’t believe their eyes.

The hospital director and other higher–ups who received the news quickly rushed over, and the ward soon filled up with people.

“This can’t be happening!” Eddy yelled.
