Chapter 31: Rebecca

Chapter 31: Rebecca

The clarification released on the intranet was simple.

In the video, Debra said that because Owen worked hard before, she wanted the finance department to give him three more months‘ salary.

Owen needed to write an application, and she would sign it.

So, Owen went to her office to apply for her signature, and he left after she signed it.

As for why Owen appeared next door and even used the company’s internal computer to attack the firewall, she knew nothing about it.

This explanation seemed to be watertight.

However, in reality, the entire company witnessed the incident. If Owen had not been approved, he wouldn’t have been so calm while stealing confidential information.

Even when he was caught, he loudly insisted he was not at fault.

Of course, no one dared to say it.

Sandra looked at the computer screen with a half–smile.

Without investigating the employees, she could tell that everyone was disappointed with Debra.

Debra’s reputation at the Cooper Group had at least dropped by thirty percent.

Following that, the Cooper Group held a press conference.

The statements made at the conference were similar to what had been said before, and the reports by the journalists were based on the company’s press releases.

The matter had been contained, and there were not many discussions about it online.

It could be considered a satisfactory response to the board of directors.

In the evening.

Sandra really didn’t want to leave the company.

It had been a long time since she had freely played games.

The internet speed there was fast, and the computer configuration was much better than in Wesley’s villa.

But she must go back.

She still had to give Wesley acupuncture.

She logged out of her game account and cleared her traces before leaving the technical department.

These days, she played games during work hours, and her game score had become the highest in the country.

When she logged off, gamers across the country were all disappointed.

Many people wanted to spectate.

Wesley was waiting at the entrance of the company.

Seeing his car, Sandra pursed her lips in disdain. Then, she took out her phone, ready to call a cab.

Joey didn’t understand why she suddenly got upset, so he quickly rolled down the window and invited her.

“Mrs. Cooper, please get in the car.”

Sandra retorted coldly. “Are we close?”

Joey was straightforward and didn’t think too much.

“Mrs. Cooper, you are Mr. Cooper’s wife. Of course you are close!”

Sandra sneered.

“Do we have each other’s contact information then?

Joey frowned.

As a bodyguard and driver, how could he possibly have Sandra’s contact information?

Then, he secretly glanced at Wesley.

Wesley’s face was gloomy.

He took out his phone

And he discovered a friend request on social media.

Only then did he remember that when he had reached an agreement with Sandra before, they had exchanged contact information.

But then, they went to the Cooper Mansion and the Hill Villa…

He totally forgot.

Besides, he rarely used social apps.

So, he hadn’t noticed Sandra’s friend request before.

Uh…

He looked a little embarrassed.

Sandra said on purpose, “Since we’re not that close, how can I get in your car?

“I’m going to a bar for a drink.”

With that, she waved her hand, and a taxi stopped in front of her.

She opened the car door and said, “Goodbye.”

Joey was speechless.

He asked anxiously, “Mr. Cooper, should we explain to Mrs. Cooper?”

Wesley fiddled with his phone, looking somewhat serious.

The dim streetlights shone on the two cars, casting a halo of light.

It was so quiet.

Finally, Wesley put down his phone, opened the car door, and prepared to get out.

But the next moment!

The taxi honked and drove away directly.

Wesley was speechless.

Joey was stunned.

He didn’t expect Sandra to leave directly.

He cautiously glanced at Wesley.

Wesley’s face was livid..

Joey asked tentatively, “Mr. Cooper, should we catch up with Mrs. Cooper?

Wesley gritted his teeth without saying anything.

In the taxi.

Sandra looked at the driver with a puzzled expression.

“Rebecca, how did you get this job?”

Rebecca felt a bit embarrassed.

“Actually, after that customer left, I was promoted to store manager. I don’t have to work the night shift, so I’m doing some part–time driving

Sandra knew something was off.

“You seem to be in need of money?”

Rebecca looked awkward.

“No…”

Sandra knew that Rebecca was a proud girl.

If she wasn’t in dire need of money, she wouldn’t be working so hard to earn it.

After thinking for a moment, she changed the subject.

“Are your parents still in the countryside?”

“No, uh, they are… yeah, they are in the countryside, Rebecca stuttered.

Sandra could tell that something had happened to her parents.

Ignoring Rebecca’s red face, she continued questioning

“Does Mr. Reynolds still sell fruit? I want to buy cherries from him to visit a friend.”

“Huh?”

Rebecca suddenly put on the brakes.

She quickly turned the steering wheel to avoid hitting the flower bed.

Sandra was sure that something had happened to her family.

She sighed, “What happened to Mr. Reynolds?”

Rebecca leaned over the steering wheel and burst into tears.

“He had a stroke.”

Sandra frowned, “Is he in the hospital?”

“Yes.”

Chapter 31. Rebecca

Rebecca cried for a while and gradually calmed down

“I’m sorry. It wasn’t intentional…”

“It’s okay. Now drive me to the hospital.”

Sandra said softly out of concern.

Rebecca shook her head, “You don’t have to bother. My father is still in a coma,”

Moreover, her father, Oliver Reynolds, valued his pride and didn’t want anyone to see him in a critical condition.

Sandra insisted, “Mr. Reynolds has been kind to me. I have to visit him.”

After a long struggle, Rebecca finally nodded.

“Alright, let’s go to the hospital.”

With that, she started the car.

In fact, she didn’t just want to take Sandra with her. It had been three days since she had seen Oliver.

She had been busy making money.

But in reality, her parents needed her company.

The car quickly stopped in front of the hospital. When the two arrived at the ward, they happened to see a doctor coming out.

“The patient’s condition is under control, but the chances of waking up are not high. Please be mentally prepared,” the doctor said.

Rebecca’s mother, Iris Reynolds, choked, “Doctor, please help him. He can’t become a vegetable.”
