Moonville Series 1: Secret Lovers

Chapter 53

Angel has a lot of projects in school, so she goes home late almost everyday. Fortunately, Bryan is with her, and her father has let her go home with him, so that Alex can go home by herself since she also has a lot of projects because of the upcoming finals week.

That night, they are going home together again. Bryan is driving and Angel is in the passenger seat.

"Were you referring to me earlier?"

Angel looked at him. "Hmn?"

"The love letter."

Angel contemplated. "Ah..." She smiled. "Why, were you affected?"

"A little." He then scowled.

Angel's smile widened. "At least, Richard took the effort to make a love letter, even if the content is not original."

"Do you like that also?" Bryan asked.

"If you do that, then you're more unoriginal. You just copied the style of your cousin."

"You're so mean."

Angel giggled. "You have to think of another strategy."

She's enjoying their conversation. Her tiredness for a whole day of studying seems to melt because of Bryan's cuteness.

"I know!"

"What?"

"I'll just serenade you."

She laughed at what he said. So he really took what she said seriously. But, it seems he's really serious because after he said that, he really did started singing.

"I look at her and have to smile, as we go driving for a while. Her hair blowing in the open window of my car. And, as we go the traffic lights, I watch them glimmer in her eyes in the darkness of the evening..." And that's it. Angel just sat there quietly and just stared at him. She can't help but be drawn to him again.

Bryan continued singing while driving.

"And I've got all that I need right here in the passenger seat. Oh and I can't keep my eyes on the road knowing that she's inches from me." He winked at her.

Angel smiled. Not only because the wink is kind of corny, but because of the overwhelming feeling she's starting to feel because of his melodious singing.

Bryan continued serenading her until the end of the song. Coincidentally, they also arrived at Moonville by that time.

"Did you like that?" His good mood was back again.

"Hmn... that will do," she joked. "You're just a little pitchy."

"Maybe because you're making me nervous, that's why I'm being pitchy."

"I'm just joking. You're not really pitchy."

"But you're really making me nervous."

"What?" Angel asked like Bryan said something ridiculous.

Bryan nodded. "Hmn... But not that much anymore, unlike before."

Angel remembered how he was when he sang during the Mr. Business School. "It doesn't show."

"Because I'm good at pretending I'm not," Bryan said. "Actually, every time that I saw you before, I feel nervous. Especially when I talk to you. But now, I don't get nervous that much." He held her hand. "I can now hold your hand like this" Then he kissed her hand.

Angel felt the thrill of that kiss send shivers to her spine. She suppressed the smile that wanted to appear on her lips.

"We're here." Bryan stopped the car in front of the Martinez residence. "I won't get out anymore. Your father might not let me go home." He took her things from the back seat. "Here."

Because she's too overjoyed at what Bryan did for her this whole day, she wasn't able to stop herself from what she said and did next.

"Good night, Bryan de Vera." She kissed him on the cheeks.

Bryan was surprised at what she did, that he wasn't able to move. She had already gone out of the car, but Bryan still didn't say anything. She just continued to their house, and after closing the door behind her, she let out the giggle she was suppressing after the naughty kiss she just did.

The following day, Angel was expecting that Alex's mood has improved because of the letter given by Richard yesterday.

"Good morning!" she greeted with a smile. They are now walking together in the second floor landing, and they're headed to the dining room.

Alex just smiled at her, and Angel's smile faded as she saw the sadness on that smile of her sister.

"Hey! Why are you still sad?"

Alex sighed. "I now know why it took so long for you to have a boyfriend. Ate! It's so hard to be a college student! There are a lot of projects that I need to do!"

"You're just like that because you and Richard are not okay. But if you don't have a problem, you won't even notice that you're busy with those projects... Wait, the love letter didn't help?"

Alex shook her head. "I appreciate it; but, I still need time to think. And right now, with all the things I need to do for school, I don't have the time to think about those things." Alex went ahead to the stairs. Angel followed her.

"Don't worry. Just make sure you finish all those projects before the intrams, so that you can enjoy the one week of no classes and have the chance to relax before the finals."

"Don't worry Ate. I will try to finish everything before next week."

The two of them proceeded to the dining room.

Angel and Alex went to CPRU together, but once they arrive they went on their separate ways. Alex proceeded to her class, while Angel went to the office of JPIA. She was quite surprised to see Bryan waiting for her. He's wearing his basketball outfit with his grey T-shirt, white jersey shorts and black rubber shoes. He's leaning on the wall beside the office door, and upon seeing her, he straightened up and smiled at her.

She went to him. "Hi!"

Instead of answering, Bryan took out a white rose from behind him. He gave it to her.

She smiled and took the rose. "Thanks."

Angel's life these past days have been blissful. Unlike before during the weeks before the finals, when multiple projects from different subjects are given to them, she can't make herself to even smile. But now, it seems like she's smiling all the time even though she has a lot of things to do. And even though her sister has a problem, she still can't feel the weight of the situation. Before, if Alex has a problem, she too becomes problematic. But right now, she feels so light. She suddenly felt guilty at that thought. Because of that, her smile slowly faded.

Bryan noticed her sudden change in mood. "You don't like it?"

"It's actually very lovely," she said as she tried to sound light again. Though she can't help but think of Alex again. "I just remembered something."

"Care to share?"

"Alex."

"Oh..." He gave her that It's-Alex-again look.

"Sorry." She grimaced. She knows she's becoming a cliché when it comes to her problem with Alex.

"It's okay. What about her? She has a love letter from Richard, right?"

Angel nodded. "Yes, but it seems the problem is already big it cannot be solved by a simple love letter."

Bryan held her hands that were still holding the rose. "Don't worry. Everything will be resolved." "Yeah..."

He smiled, then gently pinched her chin. "Please smile again."

Angel smiled. "Thanks for making me feel better. Always." "Anything for you."

That's when Hannah arrived.

"PDA is not allowed here. I don't have a love life."

They both looked at her.

"I heard that Joshua Ignacio is single," Bryan joked.

"Hmp! If you like, he's yours!" She left them as she entered the office.

The two giggled at Hannah's grumpiness.

"By the way..."

Angel looked at Bryan. "Hmn?"

"You stole something from me last night."

She frowned. "Stole something?"

"Yeah," Bryan answered.

"What is it?"

Bryan gave her a meaningful look. That's when Angel remembered what she did last night. Her embarrassment made her bow down as she felt her face warmed up.

"I demand you to give it back to me."

She looked at him again. "Huh?"

Bryan suddenly kissed her on the cheeks.

"I'll see you later!" he shouted as he ran away.

He accidentally bumped into an elderly female professor.

"Running in the corridors is strictly prohibited!"

"Sorry Ma'am!" Bryan answered without even stopping.

Angel giggled as she followed him with her gaze. She can't help but feel proud of herself. Why wouldn't she? She has the best boyfriend in town. Best, not only because it's Bryan de Vera, but because she knows he loves her so much and that he's very sincere in what he feels for her.

And also, it's because she loves him, too. As she opened the door to their office, she can feel that the right time for them to become official, for real, is coming very, very soon.
