Moonville Series 1: Secret Lovers

Chapter 45

Angel was invited to the de Vera mansion on Thursday night. The time set was seven o'clock, but it's already quarter to seven and she is still not ready.

"Ate, we only have fifteen minutes left," Alex told her. "We still have to put your make up and do your hair."

They are now in Angel's walk-in closet. Alex is at the vanity, while her sister is choosing what she will wear for their dinner with the de Veras. She's even more prepared than her as she sat there on her pink dress. "I just want to impress Bryan's mom and dad," Angel said.

"I understand, but we only have fifteen minutes left. Ate, we might be late," Alex said.

"But I don't know what to wear." Angel sat down on a nearby chair. "We should have bought a new dress at the mall yesterday."

Alex sighed. It seems like she needs to help her sister now. "You know, I don't want to interfere with you because I want you to take charge with your future in-laws."

Alex went to Angel's closet and chose a dress for her. "But you look like you're getting crazy already, so I guess I'm stepping in. Try this one."

Alex gave her the white chiffon dress she chose. The dress is sleeveless with V-neck and A-line silhouette. The balloon skirt goes down to Angel's knees.

"That?" Angel examined the dress. "Isn't this too simple? Your dress is even better."

"Ate, simplicity is beauty. Pair it with these." She took a pair of silver glaze glittering strappy stiletto sandals.

"So you think this is okay?"

"Trust me, Ate. When did I do wrong when it comes to choosing what to wear?"

"Okay, then. This is what I will wear." She went to the bathroom to change. "Finally! It's done."

Alex looked at her reflection on the oval-shaped life-sized mirror. She's wearing a simple vintage style pink dress with short sleeves and flat collar. The A-line skirt of the dress goes down to her knees, and the lace is a combination of pink and white floral designs. She paired it with beige nude heeled stiletto court shoes. Her long straight hair is in ponytail and her make up is just light.

She really wanted to be pretty tonight. There might be a chance that they'll meet not only Bryan's family. For sure, Richard will be there. She knows Bryan and Angel would arrange for them to meet as well. And there's a chance that Richard's parents are also there.

So she made sure to look beautiful tonight, because of the possibility that she'll meet her future in-laws. Come to think of it. If she marries Richard in the future, that will make Bryan's family her in-laws as well. She can't help but feel thrilled with that thought.

"Alex, can you come here please!"

'What now?' She sighed as she went to the bathroom to check on her older sister.

************

Bryan was immediately greeted by his mother as he descended the stairs.

"You're finally done changing," Helen said as she went to him. "My son is really very good-looking. But let me just fix your collar a little bit-"

"Mom!" Bryan wasn't able to prevent his mother from doing what she wanted.

"I'm just making you more handsome," Helen said.

When Helen tried to fix his hair, Bryan finally moved away. "Mom! It's fine. Please just let it as is."

"I'm just making it look better."

"Just let your son be, Honey," Raul said. "He got his good looks from me, so it doesn't matter what his hair looks like."

"I think you're mistaken, Mister. He got his good looks from me!" Helen said.

"Isn't it obvious? The way he carries himself screams Raul de Vera."

"He got his charms from me, and his appeal."

"Aren't those two just the same?"

"Of course not!" Helen answered. She then contemplated. "Oh yeah, they are just the same thing."

Bryan chuckled at his parent's antics.

"Whatever! His good looks are from me," Helen insisted.

"His talent in singing, no doubt he got that from me," Raul then said.

"Uncle Benjie said that I am a combination of you and mom," Bryan said to his father.

Raul looked at his son. "What? That Benjie still don't know how to do a proper judgement. You're obviously my mini me."

That's when they heard the arrival of Angel and Alex.

"Oooh! They're here!" Helen almost run to the door.

Bryan gazed at her overly excited mother. He felt his father wrap his arms around his shoulders.

"Son, I think your mother is more excited to see Angel than you do."

"I think so, too."

And after a few seconds, Angel emerged from the front door. Bryan can't help but smile when she saw her. She looks like an angel in that simple white dress she's wearing. She's just so perfect. "Angel, you met my husband, your Uncle Raul."

"Good evening, Uncle," Angel said.

"Good evening, Hija," Raul greeted back. He then greeted Alex after.

"Bryan! Why don't you attend to your girlfriend?" Helen said to him.

"I thought you're already taking care of her," Bryan joked. He then went to Angel and held her closely. "I thought you're not coming." They were almost late that he thought they might not come. Angel grimaced. "Cold feet."

"And a lot of wardrobe changes," Alex intercepted.

Angel glared at Alex. Bryan smirked. He understands his girlfriend, because that's also how he was when he went to their house. It took him a lot of changes before he decided what to wear. Because of that look on Angel's face, Alex just changed the subject. "By the way, Dad wanted to give you this." She handed the box she's carrying to Raul. "For you, Uncle."

It's chocolate tiramisu, Raul's favorite dessert. Bryan smiled. It seems like the two ex-friends are starting to patch things up.

"Hmn... Good for Benjie to remember," Raul just said. "Thank you."

"Okay then, let's eat!" Helen said.

Bryan's parents proceeded to the dining room, leaving the three teenagers in the living room.

"Bry, is Richard coming?" Alex asked.

"He attended an event with his parents."

Alex felt sad. Bryan understood her sudden shift of emotions. It's not every day that she gets the chance to be with Richard, and now that they have a chance, he's not even available.

"I'm sorry," Bryan said. 'Now's the only time my parents can meet you before they go to their vacation tour. They will be gone for a month, or they may extend depending on their trip. They're going to Europe, and for sure they would like to visit a lot of tourist spots."

"Good thing they can relax," Angel commented.

"Yeah," Bryan agreed. "Mom has been bugging Dad about that for too long. Finally, they're doing it. But they want to meet you first before they go."

"It's okay, Bry," said Alex. "Don't worry about me."

"Let's go to the dining room?" he asked the two.

The three of them proceeded to the dining room and joined Raul and Helen.
