Moonville Series 1: Secret Lovers

Chapter 42

Bryan took Angel to the student lounge of School of Physical Sciences.

"Is it okay for us to stay here?" Angel asked worriedly.

"Yes, of course. We're students of this university, so we can go here even if we're from BS," Bryan answered. "But, it's too obvious that we're not from here."

Angel looked around, aware that students are looking at them because their uniform is different from theirs. "Don't worry. I'm here with you."

Angel looked at him. Bryan suddenly wanted to take back what he said. But why should he? Isn't that what he really wanted to tell her? That he's always there for her. She could always count on him. Maybe that's really how it is when you're with someone you like. It's like you don't know what you're doing and you feel so shy all of a sudden.

"Thank you for saving me."

"It's nothing." He scratched the back of his head, like he is a kid being praised by his teacher. "I'm the one to blame. I didn't realize that others might misinterpret how I treat them." "Maybe she really likes you, that's why."

He looked at her. Angel's expression tells him she meant every word she said. He suddenly doesn't know how to react. "I don't know..."

"She told me I don't have friends." Angel looked like she's about to cry.

"Hey..." He held her shoulders. "There's a reason why you're like that, remember?"

"Yes, but it hurts to acknowledge the truth."

"But at least, you have me now."

She looked at him again, and he felt relieved when he saw that somehow, her eyes sparked. She also managed to smile a little. "Thanks..."

And there goes her smile again. However small and sad it might be, Bryan still can't help but get mesmerized. He just gaped at her. "I'm sorry that I ignored you yesterday. I'm just really worried about this confrontation."

"Huh?" She anticipated that this confrontation would happen?

"Joshua saw you visit our house last Saturday. Dad told him that you are my boyfriend, so... We know how Joshua Ignacio feels for Gina, right?"

So that Joshua Ignacio is the one responsible why Angel was humiliated earlier, why she cried and why she is sad right now? He cannot help but feel annoyed because of what he discovered.

"Where is that Joshua Ignacio, so that I could teach him a lesson?" He really is mad at him. 'He's the one who made my Angel cry!'

"Just let it be. He just did the right thing," Angel said. "We are the ones who are at fault. We lied to everyone. We're the ones pretending." She became sad again.

And again, Bryan got furious but this time, to himself. He doesn't know why, but he feels guilty about the sadness that's in Angel's eyes. And so, he wasn't able to stop himself. "Why don't we just make this real?"

Angel gazed at him, obviously caught off guard not knowing how to answer him.

But he really cannot take it anymore. He really wants to tell her how he really feels. "What if I become your real boyfriend?"

Angel looked away. "But... isn't it... like..."

"At least we don't have to pretend anymore."

He suddenly felt more nervous. He is anxious as to what her answer would be. Would she accept his proposal?

'Please accept it...' He really wants her to be his girl... But wait. It seems he knows why she's in doubt.

"If you want, we'll start from the beginning. I'll court you."

Angel looked at him again. Bryan felt his confidence renewed. But Angel just looked away again. "I don't know..."

'What?' He suddenly felt confused. 'So, what does that mean, then?'

And it seems Angel is really playing with him. She suddenly changed the subject. "How did you know what was happening? I thought you went to the cafeteria already?"

He was a little bit disappointed, but he still answered her question. "I was at the restroom when one of my teammates called me. He said you and Gina are fighting because of me. He even sounded like a courtside reporter, telling me all the details."

He really can't take it anymore. He cannot just let this end without knowing the real status of their relationship. He was trying to talk to her since yesterday, but she's not answering his private message on Facebook or his direct messages on Twitter.

"I'm serious, Angel. I really will court you."

They stared at each other again. He didn't want to lose his gaze to show her that he really meant what he said. In the end, it was Angel who gave in.

"If that's what you like..."

Was it a yes? Yes, maybe it was! Especially since Angel seemed so shy she turned her back on him. He felt like jumping because of joy. But of course, that's quite exaggerated. She just allowed him to court her. He's not yet her boyfriend. "I kind of feel hungry," Angel suddenly said. "Let's have lunch?" She stood up and started walking away.

"Hey, wait!"

He ran to her and held her hand, to which Angel silently agreed.

That night, Bryan told Richard everything that happened that day. He needed to tell someone about how he feels or his heart will burst. And so he told his cousin about it amidst the embarrassment he's feeling. "What?" Richard looked like he heard a very big problem. "That's what you told her?"

"Yes." He was quite surprised at his reaction. Isn't he glad he did his first move on Angel?

"You told her you want your relationship to become real, so you'll court her?"

"What's wrong with that?" 'Is there, really?' For him, he didn't say anything wrong.

"Bry, why didn't you tell her that you really like her? That that is the real reason why you want to court her, and not because you want your make-believe relationship to be real?"

'Oh yeah.' Why haven't he thought of that? Maybe because of the nervousness he felt, like his heart is racing while he's talking to Angel.

"But, he said I could court her."

"Yes, but it's better if she really knows how you feel for her. Girls like guys who are straight to the point, you know."

"And you're really teaching me, huh?" He had more girlfriends that he had.

"I'm just reminding you. It seems like you forget everything when you're with Angel."

He has a point. "Sorry. I'm in love, you know."

Richard sighed. "I understand. It happens to me, too. Anyway... We should just find out how Angel reacted about what happened."

"What?" He suddenly felt worried about what he said.

"We have to know if she's happy, if something is different about her. At least, we'll know if she's happy you're courting her. Because she might have just said yes out of consideration for you."

"But how will we know?"

Richard took his cellphone. "From my love."

*************

That time, Angel and Alex are also talking about the same topic. Angel could not hide her joy as well so she decided to tell her sister about it. And Alex is also glad at what Bryan did. "Ate! Oh my God! You'll really have a boyfriend now!"

"You're so happy, huh?" Angel commented with a smile.

"Because Bryan did the most romantic thing, Ate! He asked you to be his real girlfriend! Eeeeeeee!"

Angel watched her sister with a big smile. She's happy that their problem with Gina has been solved. Then there's a bonus - the guy that he likes will start courting her. Alex's cellphone suddenly beeped. "It's Richard."

Angel suddenly felt alarmed. "Just be quiet, okay?"

"Ate, as if Bryan hasn't told him everything yet? For sure he's calling right now to confirm what Bryan told him, or to ask for more details. Or maybe..." "Maybe...?"

"He's spying on us."

"Spying?" Angel frowned.

"Maybe he wants to know your reaction about what happened. Maybe Bryan wants to know."

Angel thought that could be possible. She warned Alex not to tell him anything. The latter nodded before answering the call. She put Richard on loudspeaker. "Hello?" Alex said.

"Hi, my love!" Richard told Alex.

Angel wanted to laugh because of Richard's cheesiness. Alex signaled her to be quiet.

"My love! What's up?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to talk to you."

"Really?"

Angel really is about to laugh because of their cheesiness.

"Why do you sound unbelieving?"

"I believe you. I also miss you, you know." Alex tried to sound as sweet as possible.

"How's your sister?"

Alex looked at Angel. "My sister? Why do you ask?"

"I heard something about her."

"Oh, about Gina?"

"Yes," Richard answered.

Alex knows what to say. "Well... She's okay. Because the problem has been solved, Ate is back to her usual self. She's at her room right now studying. You know Ate, she's such a nerd." Angel glared at Alex, who in turn smirked at her.

"Is that so? Is she really... just okay?"

"Yes. As I've said she's back to normal. Like nothing happened."

"She has no other reaction? She's not happy?"

"Happy? How can she be happy when she was humiliated? Relieved, yes. But definitely not happy."

Angel bit her lip to prevent her laugh.

"Is that so?" Richard sounded disappointed.

"Yes," Alex said. "Don't mind Ate. As long as she has something to read, she will be fine."

"Okay, glad to hear that. At least she's okay... Okay, my love."

"Wait, are you saying goodbye already?"

"Well, you know... I have to do something. With Bryan, that is."

"And what is that you need to do?" Alex pretended to be annoyed. "Is that more important than you talking to me? I though you want us to talk?"

"Well... This is also quite important. I'll tell you about it when I can."

"Whatever! Go ahead! Go with Bryan, then."

"Are you mad?" Richard sounded very worried.

Alex is about to laugh at what she's doing. "Just a little bit annoyed. Go ahead, or I might get totally mad at you."

"Promise, if I can tell you already, I will tell you everything."

"Okay. Bye." She ended the call.

That's when the two sisters released their suppressed laughter.

Going back to Richard and Bryan.

"Girls!" Richard said while looking at his cellphone. Then he looked at Bryan again. "See? Angel is back to normal again."

Bryan heard everything. Richard's phone is also on loudspeaker when she talked to Alex.

"Like I've told you, what you told her is not enough. You really should have told her how you really feel. Even if you told her that you'll court her, it still means nothing. Have you forgotten that she's the Snub Queen? She's always ignoring you before, remember?"

Richard has a point. It seems like what he did earlier is not enough. He should have done everything to make her know he's really into her. But it's not yet too late. This is just the beginning.

"Don't worry. I will immediately start courting her tomorrow. I won't waste any moment. I'll make her feel what I really feel for her." "That's what I'm saying! I know you can do it, Cuz. And if you need back up, I'm just here."

"Thanks, Cuz."

Bryan knows that everything will not be easy, but he's willing to do everything just to make Angel know how he really feels for her.
