Moonlit Fur Chronicles: Rising Moon

Chapter 2 The Search For Answers

Peyton and Sawyer decided to not tell anyone. No one would believe them anyway. No one believed Peyton was attacked, why would anyone believe that Peyton had turned into a beast? She had no idea what life would be like. She never even dreamt about something like this. She had seen movies about werewolves and vampires but they were made up, unrealistic, just stories. She wondered what she would do at work, her weekend was almost up and she was due back on monday. She figured she would burn that bridge when she came to it.

She decided to research her condition, she looked on the internet for anything or anyone that might have a clue to this mess she was in. She didn’t find any real answers, unfortunately, just bad movies and weirdos who wanted to become werewolves. Peyton tried to think of something to do. She knew that she had to figure out how to restrain herself if she ever lost control. Peyton remembered how powerful and savage the werewolf was that attacked her; she would need something incredibly strong and resilient. Her dad would know, he was interested in big game hunting. She dialed his number and had an awkward conversation with him. She told him she wanted to get a huge dog to replace Princess.

“You want to replace Princess…with a bullmastiff? Sweetie, that’s a mountain of a dog. Princess was a little bitty lap dog,” her dad explained. “A bullmastiff is a huge dog. The kind of dog I would take on a hunting trip.” Peyton thought quickly, “Yeah well if that monster is still out there, I don’t want to get all attached to a little dog and have her eaten again. Once was traumatic enough.” He had to agree with her logic, “Speaking about that, I’m putting a crew together to hunt it down. I’m not letting it get anyone else.” Her heart sank. She would have to be extremely careful to keep her secret and herself safe. Her dad gave her some information about bullmastiff dogs and lots of suggestions on how to train and keep one healthy. She thanked him and hung up the phone.

Peyton tried to think of ways to get through this mess. She couldn’t find anything helpful on the internet. Her dad didn’t seem to be a resource. She scoured the internet for anything that may help. She widened her search to magic and the occult. If werewolves were real, why not magic? There was the basic stuff, sleight of hand, party tricks kind of magic all over the internet. Peyton found a whole store devoted to it. She kept up her search. Sawyer watched her struggle and hunt for answers. He massaged her shoulders as she sat at the table, “I think it’s time for a break, let’s go get lunch.”

Peyton rubbed her eyes and yawned. “Lunch sounds great,” she answered. Sawyer smiled mischievously, “Guess where I’m gonna take you?” Her eyes lit up with possibilities. “Sandy’s,” she guessed. Sawyer thought about Sandy’s but decided to keep the game going, “Nope, try again.” She scratched her head and thought harder. She guessed her favorite restaurant, Cindy’s. “Dang it! How did you guess? Can you read my mind?” Sawyer feigned surprise. Peyton smiled. “Fine one more time,” Sawyer begged, “Read my mind.” Peyton had the perfect answer ready, “My boobs.” Sawyer laughed, “Oh my god, you gutter head! You’re right though. You have perfect boobs!” She blushed and stood up. “Oh you mean these,” she squeezed them together with her forearms. “Hey now, don’t get me all excited! We are going to get lunch!” She giggled, “Maybe you can have them for dessert.”

Peyton ordered her regular meal, chicken fried steak with a side of waffle fries and a piece of apple pie. She had come to this little mom and pop restaurant for years. It had the best food in town. Sawyer had his favorite burger and waffle fries. They sat side by side and enjoyed their meal. They talked about a road trip to get away from everything for a while. The notion of a road trip intrigued Peyton as she had never been on one. Sawyer had been on a road trip years ago with his family, before he met Peyton. He had enjoyed it and told her all about his adventures on the road.

They finished their meal and decided to wander the mall to kill a couple of hours. They passed all kinds of stores and shops, they stopped in one of Sawyer’s favorite shops. This particular shop sold various sets of building blocks, some sets were themed after the most recent action movie. Peyton saw a cute set that looked like roses. They left the shop and continued their stroll. They came across a shaved ice stand and Sawyer bought one for them to share. Peyton enjoyed her time with Sawyer in the mall. She was able to forget the werewolf in her chest for a few short hours.

Peyton and Sawyer finally returned home exhausted and content. They tumbled onto the couch and gazed into each other’s eyes. “Thank you for today Sawyer, I really needed it,” Peyton whispered. “I’m glad it helped, I saw you were struggling and thought you could use a change of scenery.” She snuggled up to him and kissed him. He seemed to know what she needed and when she needed it. It was one of the best things about it. He paid attention to her. He studied her. She was quite important to him and he made sure she knew it. He groaned softly as her lips met his, a shiver ran down her spine. He felt her body relax against his. He took a deep breath and held her close.

In light of everything chaotic that had happened to her, Peyton handled it very well. Sawyer would do everything that he could, but he had no idea how to support her. Peyton didn’t even know what she needed in terms of support. She decided that she would try to keep life as normal as possible. She would go to work, try to keep everything nice and quiet. Peyton worked part time as a veterinarian assistant. She went to school to pass her state license exam. She was about two years into her undergraduate studies. It was her dream to be a companion animal veterinarian.

Peyton thought about how she would go back to school in the morning and work later in the afternoon. She wondered how much life would be different now she had a monster inside her. Her anxiety started to rise. Sawyer felt her heartbeat quicken. “Talk to me baby,” he cooed softly. Peyton took a deep breath, “I don’t know how I’m going to make this work. This…thing…inside of me. I’m scared. I want to know what it is. I want to know how to get it out of me.” Sawyers’ heart sank, “Whatever we do, we will do it together.” She leaned up and kissed him hard on his lips. She felt him grow hard under her. She kissed him again and he moaned softly.

His moan excited her; the beast in her chest stirred at the sound. A deep rumble echoed in her throat. Peyton shifted her weight so she was on top of him. She could feel him under her. She wanted him, she needed him. Peyton needed him inside her. She kissed his neck and dragged her nails down his chest. She nibbled his ear and whimpered, “Sawyer, I need you.” His breaths were ragged and heavy. She pressed herself down on him. She growled with desire and bit her lip, “I need you inside of me.” Sawyer gently pushed Peyton up, “I’m all for a good time baby, real quick question.” Peyton blinked, his hesitation confused her.

Sawyer took a deep breath, “Since when are you so forward? You usually let me start this kind of stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love that you are going after what you want. I wonder what changed.” Peyton didn’t want to answer questions. She had only one thing on her mind. “Sawyer,” her voice was deep and full of desire, “Fuck my brains out and then we chat.” He grinned, “That works for me!” He picked her up and carried her to the bedroom.
