Chapter 49
Her expression had completely changed. Wearing a white belaya and a wrap-around skirt with her hair neatly pinned up with a dangling pearl on the left side, Tasya felt incredibly awkward as she stepped out of her room. She met Nathan's family, whom she had already gotten to know. She smiled thinly as she looked at each guest who had come as witnesses to their wedding.
And then Nathan casually approached her, extending his hand for them to hold hands, even though Tasya was only a few steps away from reaching him. It was the table where she would sign their marriage documents. There, she saw Ronan, who greeted her with a wide smile. And Naina, who was already seated next to her grandfather, witnessing this historic event in Tasya's life. At least Naina hadn't misbehaved during the entire wedding ceremony. "Hey, Wife," Nathan greeted her with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "I can't wait to meet you today."
"We've already met, haven't we?" Tasya sighed, but truthfully, she felt embarrassed. How could she not? Nathan's voice could be heard by all the guests. There was a microphone pinned to the inside of Nathan's black blazer. "We have." Nathan chuckled softly. "My wife is so beautiful, isn't she? No mistake, right? Her name is Tasya Rosmerry, my wife. Don't let anyone else claim that."
"Nathan!" Tasya scolded him with annoyance. She really wanted to give him a good, hard pinch in the side. The man who had officially become her husband. Although there was a tinge of sadness because among the many wedding guests, she didn't see her mother's face, Tasya believed that one day her mother would understand why she wasn't at her daughter's wedding.
Let's go back to Nathan, who still can't get enough of praising how beautiful his wife looks right now. Tasya often accompanied him to client parties when Faldom held events. Tasya usually wore casual clothes-pretty, sure, but nothing like today. Tasya's beauty suddenly made Nathan into a possessive man.
The thick glasses that usually adorned Tasya's face were gone, replaced by gray contacts, which Nathan knew were an aid. Tasya also sometimes wore makeup, although it was light. Maybe it was because everything Tasya had was perfectly concealed by things that made people underestimate her. But because of Tasya's performance, which kept him content and never disappointed, Nathan disregarded all those remarks. And now, he regretted ever underestimating how, if Tasya showed her other side, he would be overwhelmed.
The belaya hugged Tasya's body quite snugly. The wrap-around skirt seemed designed to ensnare Tasya's legs and steps perfectly, which made her even more enchanting. Don't blame Nathan's brain for suddenly being filled with thoughts of Tasya's curves and contours. Blame whoever put that white belaya on Tasya!
That's right!
Nathan would find out later. His business wasn't finished yet. He couldn't have Tasya suddenly let go of his hand and choose to leave their wedding. Even though they had already gone through the ceremony, Tasya hadn't signed the papers yet. But Nathan had already spoken the marriage vows, right? It had been witnessed by many people, and everything had been carried out according to the custom. So Tasya wouldn't run away from this marriage, right? Nathan's thoughts were ridiculous!
"I see you can't wait, Mr. Nathan," the officiant joked. At the table where Nathan had confidently held and loudly proclaimed their wedding vows earlier, there were now two marriage certificates that needed to be signed. "Well... what can I say, Sir? My wife looks so beautiful like this. I can't wait, can I?"
Laughter erupted from everyone present.
"Come on," Nathan said with a wide grin. He was so relieved to have made them the center of attention, but little did they know it was Nathan's way of reducing his anxiety. Since he woke up this morning, he had wiped his sweaty forehead so many times. His stomach suddenly felt knotted, and he had to run to the bathroom, but he didn't. Not to mention the countless negative thoughts that plagued him.
Not because he couldn't take responsibility for Tasya's life. Oh God, no! It wasn't like that at all. He was truly ready to start a new life with the girl who had already taken control of his mind. No matter how far he went, many others had passed through his life, but if Tasya's name was already in his heart, could Nathan deny it?
No, he couldn't.
With confidence, he proved that he could change. His determination was clear; he only wanted his name to be associated with Tasya's in everything: invitations, wedding decorations, the rumored five-tier wedding cake, and most importantly, their names in the marriage certificate and the country's civil registry.
"Ugh! Why does Daddy always tease Mama Tasya? Can't he see that Mama Tasya is embarrassed?" Naina must have left her seat at some point, hands on hips, glaring at Nathan. When she directed her gaze at Tasya, Naina broke into a wide smile. "Mama Tasya looks so pretty today. Well... not just today, actually. She's pretty every day. I'm afraid Naina will be left behind again."
Tasya burst into laughter. "No, you won't be, sweetie." She released her hand from Nathan's and reached for Naina's hand to hold it. "Where's Mama sitting now?" "Oma said earlier that Mama Tasya has to read a prayer before signing. She needs to look carefully at the name and photo there. Just to make sure it's Daddy Raptor." Tasya couldn't help but laugh even harder.
"And most importantly, so that Mama realizes that she has me and Daddy now. I'm sorry if we both often make Mama upset. But we both really love Mama Tasya."
If it weren't for Koni's laser-like gaze at the side of the venue where the ceremony was taking place, Tasya would have definitely shed tears after Naina's heartfelt words. Tasya couldn't resist emotional words, and Naina's speech was one of them.
Koni had been warning Tasya not to cry too much, saying, "Your makeup will run." What's wrong with shedding tears of joy during this once-in-a-lifetime wedding moment? Yes, only today. On the day she saw her name next to Nathan's. When she signed her name, confirming everything about this wedding ceremony. May... this come true. Amen.
Has all the commotion and chaos in this hotel come to an end?
Of course not.
After the wedding ceremony, which was followed by numerous photo sessions, Tasya was immediately pulled back into the room where a wedding dress had been hanging since morning. The dress Naina had chosen for her during the fitting a while ago. The dress that had made Nathan lose his composure, but Tasya had returned the favor.
Pathetic!
He should be able to restrain himself, right? But what woman could resist Nathan, who was so skilled at playing with his lips? Who, without a word, made Tasya surrender to his every action? Oh... Why did such thoughts cross her mind?
Come on, Tasya! There's one more event she has to go through: the reception. It seems like it's going to drain her energy completely. How could it not? The venue where the reception would take place already shimmered with lights just three hours before. Not to mention the flowers that adorned almost every corner of the room. Tasya's initial wish was for the decorations not to be too elaborate. But it seemed someone had changed it, and she knew who the instigator was. Sunny. Who else?
