Chapter Chapter Two
The first things she acknowledged around here with her silver orbs were the variation of COLORS, SOFT SOUNDS, LOUD SOUNDS, ACTION happening, A DIVINITY-POOL around herself was the TEXTURE Of CHILL surface in which she's been lying, SMELL, TASTE and altogether makes a unique sensation to pour all at once. Making herself presentable for the journey, Edwina ambled along the mountain pathway early in the dawn to find the secret falls behind the forbidden valley.
But a hidden saying is left behind the soul reason for her adventure calls was the crescent Moon-she used to dream of which is one of the things so special when an elf started being in love. Dreaming about a sweetheart and believing it all true is something every elf lover has done. Now is Edwina's time to imagine her love- the prince on the moon and invites it to come down from the skies for her. Beautiful right... It's the most sacred period of clocking that happens in every Elf's agenda.
But here is an unspoken promise left unsaid in Edwina's heart. It's been quite a season since she saw her prince charming. It's not usual for a newly budding couple to stay apart. But it's Edwina we are speaking about. Here is her living she has so many unquestioned lines left trails behind her. So like one, she shrugs her mind out to stay on her prior purpose to walk around in this Woody mountain range in these unlikely hours. Little did she know that a rail of surprise awaits her search. Skipping stones one after one, Edwina heard an unusual humming sound vibrating in the air. She thought it must be the early birds, buzzing around. But it sounded like a swarm of bees. Then the buzzing transferred to the rock beneath her feet. It traveled all through her body thus making her feel a tingle that ran up to the fingertips. She rounded the corner and the source of the sound revealed itself.
It was a whirring waterfall hidden in the restriction zone.
"Aww... the forbidden is always chocolaty!" Whispered Edwina. And even at this distance, the trails in it looked like silver tear tracks on the wrinkled face of the mountain. To her eyes, it looks as if a loom of liquid silver was pouring down the rocks. But the sound was cacophonous now to let her mind drift back to the running reality. The spout was hitting the cavernous hollow of the pool like a thunderclap. An unknown smile reached her lips on seeing the widespread falls and the various slimmer threads rushed down the mountain, roiling and bubbling, boiling and churning.
The gathered-up waters in the pool fed two other smaller waterfalls, but they were not as deafening as the older falls.
The younger and budding falls were icy-blue with a mixture of magical solutions. It was gushing and swishing over the rocks joyfully in rhythmic beats. At its widest point, it was surging and plunging down the mountain making a beautiful serenity pool at the bottom. Though the elder falls get thundered down into the pool like a gigantic water spout at the very end of the running it was tiered and plunged into the depths like a paradise-blue pool. As Edwina began to get closer, the noise of the cataract increased. The nearer she goes she could hear the growls and rumbles in a high-pitched tone. And when it toppled into another ecstasy pool, layered below the former pool it foamed all of it at the bottom. The ground-level pool lays as clear as it was veneer compared to the pool laying upsides. The waterfall flowed as smoothly as syrup enabling Edwina to see down into the rocky bottom. Fronds of forest-green plants waved gently in the depths. In a few words, it looks like a sheet of blue velour as it swishes down. Its edges were hemmed with whipped-white lines. But the atmosphere here was so cold that she started shuddering. It's pretty early though, but it got a shivering sensation in this place. Serene yet slightly off the comfort.
But the living spirit controlling nature here somehow got her discomfort and raised the volume to play the background effects by allowing the frogs to croak nearby which is an add-on to the wonderful sounds therefore successfully distracting Edwina from the chilly breeze grazing on her flawless feature.
Alongside a gaggle of geese can be seen grazing by the bank and the flowers next to it were nodding and smiling gently at the arrival of the guest. With all the scenery happening around, on short notice it is picture perfect. But no picture is perfect without a wild sign in it. And here comes
a group of wild animals, edged with saw’s teeth and statue still, added a tropical flavor. Overwhelmed by the beautiful part going on, Edwina slowly as molten lava without her concise strolls down the rocks and stood under the thread of younger falls to cool down, forgetting the living coldness resides in it and got the answer when she plopped in it. And realize It does feel catacomb cold. It gave her goosebumps immediately. So she ended up quivering and shivering on the bank. On the contrary, the flowers growing nearby filled her senses with a honey-sweet smell causing her to lick her lips.
" Am I only the one who got all the awakening?" Questioned Edwina to herself. But duh! The nectar sweet smell of the spring flowers perked up all the magical spirits around the valley. This serene climate makes Edwina yearn for a cup full of chocolates after all the moments of madness come around in this early daylight.
So, whatever the witchery this unique falls spelled on her, it's working its magic just right. Among all the things happening Edwina forgets her prior source for the journey.
Just when her senses awakened, the sun came out like a spell revoker. Its rays caught the watery slide, giving it a trance-like quality. It turned into a glitter, like a shred of silky silver. The airy sparkling of its spray was magical. It looked like a spritz of fairy dust, flickering in the slanted light. It had the dreamy and illusory façade of an ancient painting and the same shimmering sorcery the atmosphere is bringing. The drizzling spray created a filmy mystique above the pool, dazzling her with its beauty which gurgled from the depths and tinkled on the surface, swishing with a serene-like melody.
Just when she was to look ahead on the gem's studded blanket, a silver dusting butterfly caught her gaze hypnotized. Edwina's eyes followed the little actions the butterfly did. It circled thrice before her hand and flew back in the direction of the kingdom to follow along as if beckoning so, she did. But the living sound subsided as our sweet Edwina walked slowly away. It became a distant humming again which made Edwina pop out from the trance and venture a look back over her shoulder in search of the crescent Moon but got a blanket of nothing but the usual sky filled with multiple layers of hues. As much as she was feeling happier to find the legendary secret place which no one has ever dared to walk in, deep down in her heart she is saddened for not finding the one thing her heart yearned for.
" Think the fly was giving me a heads up to follow it so I don't have to add yet another disappointment in my row of sadness. Silly me." Murmured Edwina, under her nose. The willowy waterfall flashed it's silver one more time making her beam at the beauty for the last time before she started her way back home but right then the waterfalls soul-swelling magical aura whichsoever held her captive all longer start following the naive Edwina with her concise to her home which lays in the other end of the kingdom in the middle of the lotus waterbeds.
On her way back she saw her fellow neighbors running errands and prepping their kids for the early classes. 'The kids at least had someone dear to them to lean on in their childhood, unlike HER!' Edwina thought to herself as she reached her colony.
The willowy glimmers adore her home roof remind her of the concealed agendas of the falls back in the Ally.
Just when she was about to enter her pathway a buzz of bees marched towards her. She stood her ground waiting for the arrival of the mini messenger.
A chill blows her senses thus signaling the Beauty-fly's arrival.
Bowing a little the fly opens the scroll and delivers the carried message to Edwina from its commander.
And it spoke in its tiny cute buzzing sound,
"To, Effly.
Walk ahead the garden street,
And wait till the unusual pops.
Wait for my command, not so long,
Till then close bubble eyes,
Just for a while.
So, follow my lead, to let get going,
I know you have questions to ask.
Now my love do as I say for this once,
And crack thy bubble apart,
When you feel the magic in you,
Cause now I'll be in your bubble,
devoted to you forever!
" Yet another heart-melting letter from Quentin. My prince. But this ain't his usual words. It's quite....-- Oh my Moon! He's back at last! " Edwina squealed in utter disbelief at the change of events happening around. Subsequently thanked a million moons adorning their sacred valley for blessing her with goodness at last. Edwina caresses the Beauty-fly which holds a scroll in its hands (aka), a fly resembling a butterfly but has wings placed above its head, and rather than flapping, it spins like a spin wheel to fly high. Which looks like holding an umbrella with its legs. Cute right!? And the Beauty-fly itself reads the message in the scroll as well as it also conveys whatever the emotional state the opposite party felt at the moment of conveying.
Though the fly can't stimulate the voice like the sender it does give vibes of the emotion held in the message through the waves of its buzzing chirps.
She is a little ticklish whenever the beauty-fly starts speaking in circles around her ear to ear. And that may be the reason why Quen uses this way to tease her. Either way, it's teasing her emotionally, and yet his never-ending charms are working the way he used to be on seeing her blushing cheeks. And with short notice, she sends the restlessly roaming beauty-fly to redeliver the message to her prince who is the upcoming throne prince of the kingdom-Elffenda.
The day Edwina was brought to this kingdom is a blessed day for her. She isn't aware of her kind until she was brought to the king and queen of Elffenda. They took her under their wings and later got her adopted by the Chief soldier-Titus and his beloved mate Nebilah of the Elffenda.
They were the only family she had till her early teens. For the time being, they taught her moral values and rules of discipline for living.
Later then Edwina started befriending nature by using the skills her adopted mom taught her to so she could one day lead their home without their help.
Ms. Nebilah is a natural talker. And a big fan of Flora. Edwina too loved the greenery and so she left it as it was kept and did the routine maintenance to feel their presence in the plants and flowers her adopted mom left to her with their demise.
All creatures including the Elf are named to follow rules and norms for better living for the harmony sakes. But it isn't the same atmosphere happening in the rival kingdom- the Alffenda. The other part was also ruled by Elves like others but they are wild compared to the lifestyle in Elffenda. The creatures in the kingdom are said to be vicious, more dangerous, and fight for survival. No one in this kingdom has seen an Alfie ((aka. the Alffenda creature specifical name calls for the Elf).
But the written manuscripts of the ancestors in this kingdom mentioned that the Alffenda was a restricted kingdom among several other kingdoms. It was also once called a Robber kingdom as they in the medieval era robbed the valuable treasures and manuscripts the Moon and nature goddess gave to them.
Right when Edwina is about to think more about the historical past, a voice in her head poked her numb cells to do as once told, which is to hurry on and move to the garden street which is laying on the border of the kingdom. No threats are around at the border. And to be said it's the traditional worshiping place in Elffenda.
And just before another voice scolds Edwina, she walked to her dressing closet and thought for an outfit and ran her finger in circles in the air like making a current of the mini storm appear in her palm.
The mini water tornado was on my palm ready to do as she says.
Edwina raised the mini twirl to her eye level and blew on it to go for the errand she asked it to. The water twirl moved in a blink hereby breezing the chills of the water on her way and came back to her within a couple of seconds with whatever she said it to carry. Edwina raises her palm in the air and so she beams at the pool of whirl remains in her palm as she walks to the bathing room. With a quick pace, she places herself on the edges of the fountain pool with her legs left dipped in the chill water. Edwina eyes the whirling tornado with a gleam and says,
" Thank you, Willow." In her ever smoothie-like voice. And the whirl slowly vanishes into thin air but beforehand it moves to caress her cheeks lovingly. Now that the whirl was gone Edwina dips her neck to her palms to see a globe of water floating above her palms and the transparency of the water layer reveals a long ankle-length coat and pieces of equipment for her journey were placed accordingly in it.
" Sweet! Stockings made of vineries, flat sandals, and a thigh-length top. I hope the weather cooperates with my suggestions." But that isn't all, a scroll was also placed beneath the water which is an Elf's precast to acknowledge the fellow Elves about the change of weather and humidity in Elffenda.
With a tap on the scroll cap with her pinky finger, she opened it and took a glance at today's report.
"It's a mango day. ( Reference: Use pastel-hued cloths.)"
" What! I thought it would be a lemon day. You never fail to rub your victory on my face at least once will you, Willow?" Edwina grumbles underneath her nose and then later laughs at her stupidity to blame the faithful spirit for being truthful.
" Aww... I should've been a predator once back to being so heartless. Poor Willow has no choice but to bear my nonsensical actions." Edwina sighs at the thoughts and dips in the water to cleanse the imaginary dirt on her. Now she should hurry or else her chance to meet him is futile. So she thought to make a whirl of a tornado in the water by tracing her fingers in circles thus creating a current to flow on it and back a step two to make the transition complete. As the middle of the pool swirls in a rhythmic beat, she walks into it and sits in-between the cone, and soaks her body inside the surface so that Willow can take care of her job. Once the whirl slowly suppresses them into nothing but the blankets of water, the fountain on the other end pours some scented fragrance on her to finish the bathing session. It contains the smell of after rain and chocolatey specks of dust.
Picking her robe from the edge Edwina spins her hand aside and the water moves to the side her hand was facing and makes a pathway for her to get going. And after it goes, bases to the pool surface like a blanket.
Dressing up one after another Edwina combed her ash-blonde hair in a two-pleated braid. Though it isn't suiting her dress code, she loves braiding her hair in two partitioned pleats. And here comes the fun part. Elves are naturally beautiful so they don't have to bake themselves even more. But there are days like the marriage ceremony and when the sacred ritual happens in the garden street held at the border of the kingdom, Elves are forced to look pleased so, she just took a once over glance at her appearance on the reflection of the rhythmic flow of the thread-like running water placed in the wall. And later with the help of the twig placed in a magical solution, she draws a lightning bolt symbol on her forehead to complete her outfit for today's meeting with her love. It's her biological family's sign representing her as a Rain family. And it is mandatory to show the house symbol. The glitter which is applied instantly glows and a chill passes through her and that's when it finally allows her to gaze at the silver glistening symbol.
Placing the twig in its appropriate place, Edwina cross-checked for any missing pieces left undone.
Edwina's house isn't large or spacey like others built in her kingdom but it's quite homey and comfortable for her, as she is the only one living in it. Feeling better with her work she strolls to her existing pathway which was adored by Daisy flowers in a neatly trimmed order and later beams at the happily swaying plants at her arrival.
" Will be back around nightfall. Keep your fragrance highly on alert around our house beauties. And if anyone comes for me pass this vile to them." In it was written her current location. The glass vile will monitor & show the person's live location on a thin sheet of plywood. After spraying water to the ally of happily smiling Daisy flowers & before she walks away it offers Edwina a bunch of flowers to adore her hairstyle. Holding a handful of fresh flowers, Edwina opened her doorway which is made of fall waterbeds with her fingertips slightly grazing the current flow of the falls. The willowy glimmers of the waterfall parted into two thus making a Passage to pass through. Though some droplets of the water can be seen dripping and falling on her head. She quickly walked her way out and with a calculating step she jumped on the lotus leaves and paved a way to cross the water beds surrounding her nest.
Once she's out of the frondescence, Edwina retapped her fingers thereby allowing the gates of her nest to continue the white watershed falls. And so it did as she says. Her walk to the garden street took her nearly 1000 steps to reach the Oasis of the conservatory. Once her sight caught the hues emitting from the various shrubs and trees. Edwina's gaze searched for the unusual around the valley of greenery. Slowly with baby steps, she moved forward in search of the unusual thing which Quen has referred to in the scroll. But her searching quest got to an end when she walked along the one-way street. It hit her that there isn't anything unusual.
So she just stood admiring the countless changes in the color of the flowers as well as the sky covering the conservatory.
In-between her haze trail of eyeing the beautiful creation, a voice too familiar to her sounded behind her back. But when she turned around, there ain't nobody except the richness of a specific wood and mint fragrance were gingerly breezing her way. She knows he is around here somewhere. And that thought made her go all giddy like a spitfire. And when Edwina was about to turn around in search of her prince when a hand was placed on her eyes blocking her gaze to find the right person. She frowned at the moment but when the familiar sparkles ran along her skin she smiled widely at the person's sweet gestures. Right the moment I caught his unsaid words. So I obliged to close my eyes. And he took my hand and made me walk nearly 150steps on the grainy terrace which I presume is faced in the northern part of the garden street and was stopped when the chills of the breeze headed ahead. Edwina looks utterly puzzled by the unknown sensation that lies in this arena. Getting anticipated when no other instruction was said by Quen, she unlatches her sealed orbs and blinks remembering the words said in the scroll. In front was Quen of course but his glorious height thus makes her a little more like a Littleton. But what got me to blink rapidly and simultaneously jump like a kangaroo gone crazier is the thing Quen has in his hands which means so dear to her heart.
